Why you so mad? Everyone knows that Diablo 3 being delayed is downright upsetting, Blizzard always releases the intro cinematic 1 month ahead of the release date, granted they could push it back again, they did the same thing with The burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich king, Cataclysm was special since it was at Blizzcon.
My theory on why Starcraft II's intro came out almost a year before the release date is as follows, They needed to build the hype since they knew about splitting it into three games would piss off the customers, so they did the stupid 3 day Splash leading up to Blizzcon, and they showed everyone at 3am eastern, everyone went nuts, game came out everyone bought it, got slightly disappointed. since its basically Starcraft: Broodwars with better graphics, but now feel semi-obligated to buy the next two to finish there beloved story.
I just pray they are not doing the same thing with Diablo 3.
7/10 imho. It lacks something! And we know from the beta Cain is alive, so from that perspective, the ending is underwhelming.
So its underwhelming because it is setting up for the story in which we are to play? Sure we know Cain is alive in beta...That doesn't negate the fact taht some people will buy this game whm have never seen a single shread of the this game, so to say it lacks something because you spoiled the hell out of yourself is very arrigant and childish.
I'll be honest and say that I was pretty schwasty when I watched the cinematic last night, and posted my original "letdown" feelings. Having re-watched it now at least mostly sober, here are my feelings.
1. Still a letdown
2. Was that really the reveal that Blizz was talking about?
3. Not as good as any of the WoW cinematics, and nowhere near as good as the black soulstone.
4. What a letdown...

3. Meteor falls in Cain's head (hype level 4.... I already kno he lives so whats the big deal >_>)

Only grudge I can hold is the fact the meteor is not blue...and hte pit is Orange, but in game its blue..

4. What a letdown...
1. It is not a let down, it is an intro to a story, not a "I'm the next bad guy listhen to me talk about destruction" cinematic like WoW, There cinematics are good, but they tell no story at all.
2. Yes
3. I will admit Black Soulstone was very good, however that is most likely the into for Act 2 or 3, which again is telling a story and you know what you have to do by the end of it.
4. really? child.

1. Whether or not it was a letdown is subjective, you can't tell me I wasn't expecting something different.
2. That was rhetorical, implying that everyone knew that the cinematic was coming, and it was hyped up for nothing
3. I'm not sure what to say to this, yeah... it's telling a story, just like almost all cinematics do. And it did it with a way sweeter video than this one did.
4. Calling me a child makes you sound extremely, well... immature. You took the time to half-ass pick apart my feelings on the video, and then ran out of cheap stabs by the 4th subjective point I made. Good work.
Honestly, the cinematic as a whole was meh. That first minute of the sketches that came alive was fuckin good!
Again, this cinematic is probably just one of the bits Blizz is giving to us to keep us busy and interested (not so much anymore tbh) till the time they announce the release date or even till the game is released.
All the people that's trolling and flaming Blizz about how pour this vid is, you're just raging cause they didn't give a release date and you have nothing else to do to keep you busy...I'm on the verge of this but I don't blabber my disappointment (in a very offending way) on the forums.
Anyway, Blizz should just give a release date in Des then I'll be happy. But this is just another hurdle we have to get pass (like we hoped for a release date at the VGAs). But with that whole Korean RMAH situation, we might again be disappointed for not getting a release date in Des...
I doubt Blizzard has any fear that D3 won't sell well. Diablo as a gaming series transcends the need for any kind of advertising. If anything, they are giving us the info they have simply because they want to. With or without all the data we have seen to date (gameplay videos, battle.net database, etc), it'll still sell a huge amount of copies.
I kinda disagree with the underlined part. They don't HAVE to give us info, but they SHOULD give us the info if they want to keep us just on the edge of the happy side. Explained above.
If its meteor and if its really significant the impact should destroy the katredal. Making hole to the hell that deep but the catrdal is still ok. Where is the crater... That last few seconds and leah screaming are so lame... I almost came but failed
I'm guessing you saw this meteor as an actual meteor, then yes, the impact was to insignificant. But it's not a meteor, it's probably one of the angles, we'll have to wait and see. Thus explaining the minor impact radius (theoretical, even an object of that size falling from the sky at that velocity should wipe out the cathedral), but the cathefral plays a significant role in the Diablo series.
I'm not an English aficionado (in fact, english is my second language [spellcheck helps a bunch!]), but the cathedral is probably a metaphor for a sanctuary, a place of piece, quite and a place to feel safe in, a fair place. And it has just been "invaded" by a darkness (whether it's angels or demons) and has disrupted everything the cathedral stood for. And it make it worst that the fact is that this will be the central breeding ground of hell's demons.
I don't even want to see it, and I don't understand why others do until we're actually playing the game (though I accept it because why wouldn't I? Free will, people).
There's a reason why it's called opening cinematic, you know. It's SUPPOSED to be reserved for when you start the game, not some game award show. Yet somehow Blizzard decides "not anymore!". Why? I don't get it. Is it really because they want to keep up the hype for a game that's been missing a release date for over three years now? No matter the reason though, it's clear that they've run out of stuff to talk about in order to keep people interested so instead they slowly start to rip pieces of the game apart. No pride there, apparently.
Agreed, Opening Cinematics is supposed to be first seen when you play the game for the first time. They are starting to run out of material to give us and keep us busy till the release (eg. battle.net balance [not even really Diablo 3 related, yes I know they have to tell us about how RMAH items and this will work]).
Screaming names in final sequencies is kinda of a prove that you use 60 years old cliches and have bad taste.
Well you should find out what 'bad taste' means. When you are a part of an extreme minority who dislikes something and the rest of us appreciate it and like it, you are the one who has a 'bad taste'.
Wow, ok. So according to you, Lady Gaga is good tste, Mozart is bad taste. Since, well, people who like Mozart are a minority compared to gaga. Oh wow.
Why is this thread turning into a flamefest? There are people who like the intro, there are people who don't like much. And it is their opinion. Why are people trying to impose their own taste on others? Wtf is wrong with you? I even said that IN MY HONEST OPINION and from MY PERSPECTIVE (having played beta) it was an underwhelming intro. And at least two crusaders of the good taste proceeded to tell me how I can't have my own opinion on the intro.
Eh what? No, not at all. Sorry I was saying that in regards to the colossal ingrates who were bashing the cinematic for reason A B C. Apologies if it looked like I was directing that at you, I had the post typed and didn't refresh the page before I posted heh.
It was directed to that maknywhatshisface and the other trolls.
Lol, sorry. I saw this appear directly after my post, so it looked like I was one of those it was aimed at.
Anyway, I think I kinda understand why a lot of people are looking at the into now, and think meh, which is alright, I guess.
I mean, this is an introduction, after all. Do you know when it will be great? When you first start the game up, see that intro flash by, and then immediately jump into the events that happens right afterwards. It's like the first two minutes of a film, so it's really only a buildup to the rest of the story.
To be honest, I never really liked the Diablo 2 intro all that much. It felt too drawn out and I cant put my finger on what bugs me about it. The rest of the cinematics are fine, but I'm not all that into the intro, so I will be disinclined to compare the two intros.
You know, trolling and bad feelings aside, I for one am no longer looking forward *as much* after a 5 hour beta experience.
Blizzard are really crap at either making games or hiring people. Because more than one person who has played beta with me has remarked that they cannot believe it took four years to make.
I defended by saying its just a beta... We'll see.
And no release date? I'm starting to view blizzard as that bully/jock at school.
Are you kidding?!?! I'm looking forward to it more than ever! The amount of time it took makes perfect sense, they created a new physics engine, all of the 3D CAD objects, story board, acting, etc. That's a 4 to 5 year process for 38 developers (as was pointed out in the awards ceremony). I've worked in IT for 25 years in that time I have been many things from an engineer, SQL DBA, to a developer, and more. 4 or 5 years is about right for this kind of undertaking.
They don't care, they can't stand it, they think it sucks, they aren't going to buy it, but despite that they still cared enough to come to Diablo Fans website to let us all know how much they just don't care.
Reminds me of kids who are forced to eat their vegetables, but because they fought so hard against eating them, they won't admit to their parents they actually like them.

Im talking about something that have come out just now, about one thing. If Mozart came out with something new simultaneously with gaga, then just maybe your analogy would work.
Besides i said it because the other poster used those words, and if they were to be used i showed how they would make more sense, since people who like it outnumber people who dont with something like 50:1.
You should go join those idiots occupying wall street. 99%.. That means there's more of them, so they MUST be right!
Mass mentality like that is the biggest accelerator of idiotic opinions, besides stupidity itself. This is why movies are all crap these days, good TV shows (Community) can't last, and we have a government that is completely paralyzed.
Hmmm. So its Tyrael that falls from the heavens. I suppose the Angiris Council kicked him out finally for helping the humans too much. Very interesting.
