Why are news updated so slowly? Mike's announcement came 6 hours after it was first published. Everyone already knew on the forums. And now the EU opt-in invites have gone out 1 hour ago and still no news? Why the slowlness? The news reporters are constantly online.
I understand waiting to structure out the changes in a patch, but there's no point waiting hours for some big news segment like Blizzard firing 600 employees. MMOC updates on the fly. Why not here?
As a former member of the news staff I can pretty much assure you that they want news to go out as quickly as possible with minimal delay whenever possible. If you catch drift of something news-worthy that is not yet posted and see someone in the news team online at the moment send them a quick PM with a link and description. Being in the news team means you have to be alert, but they can't always spam F5 on the blue trackers and sometimes time differences and other stuff gets in the way.
Additionally the online list shows online in the last 60 minutes so they might not still be on even if they are in the list :).
Obviously since I'm not part of the team any longer I cannot answer if they've actually changed any policies in how they do stuff, but yeah.. my 2 cents
A man constantly learns during his lifetime. Although I assumed the two were synonymous.
Also not to sound like I disrespect Molster. He's an awesome dude and I admire all the work he's doing. I know what it's like, since I'm a news reporter/journalist/editor myself.
But in those cases it's simple copy/paste. That's what I mean that it could be done faster.
And I know all about MMOC Freddy. Registered there July 2007.

The Morhaime and beta announcement yesterday and today were an oversight on my side, I wasn't around and I'm usually in charge for announcements around this time (or at least in charge of yelling at people). They weren't extremely big announcements tho, it's not like it was a release date or a new beta patch (where we're pretty much always first)
