by 4 times? seriously? I have trouble accumulating more than 20 30k money, and repairing is gonna cost like 16k MINIMUM now 24k if they up that by 6 times, (and my gear is not very good yet), how the heck will I be able to afford anything other than repairs now?
They said only level 60 items would get the huge jump in repair costs. Hopefully if you're at that gear level in Act 1 you won't be dying much at all (I rarely do in Act 1 these days), and Act 2, 3 and 4 are getting a difficulty downgrade, which will hopefully help too!
At the moment repairing is nothing more than a minor speed bump of having to go to town now and again, upping the costs makes sense. When you'd see the impact of that, you should be able to make enough to cover it.

Seriously, this should send gear prices slightly down overall, with repairs eating some more money out of the system. I am concerned whether the repairs are really going to scale properly up to that god gear on a4 farmers, compared to the income they pull in via the AH.

Remember, this is being rolled out in the same patch in which act 2-4 Inferno is being balance fixed. Essentially if you're spam dying, you dont have the gear to do what you're trying to do, so go back a difficulty.
I get about 80-100k gold per Act 1 inferno farm run that takes me 30-40 minutes (this does NOT include AH item profits). I spend about 7k of that on repairs. I don't stack Gold find, I think i have about 30%?
bring up repair costs by 10x I still don't lose gold. It comes down to NOT DYING AND FARMING FAST.

Done with my lululul Overpower crit, Revenge crit, WW crit heal, Wrath damage, frenzy axe toss, resistance shout sword and board 9k dps barb.
So if i can do all that shit in 35 min avg and come up with 80-100k gold with only a 7k repair bill. There is no room for the QQ. As i said, I have like 0 GF on my barb.

I agree with the changes, however my only small concern would be about natural item decay, since monks/barbs are in the frontline getting hit alot, they will have higher repair cost from just normal combat without dying. This isnt much atm but with such an increase it becomes noticable.

I agree, repair costs should definilty go up, way too many softcore players take dying too simply (especially no defense DHs... kill, kill, kill, get killed.. OK.. respawn and repeat). Not enough focus in the game on survivability.
With that said Id like to point something out oxnan, because so many Dhs, wizards, and WDs focus more on damage they are more likely to get 1 shotted. Thus they may not pick up the same wear and tear monks and barbs do but they can pick up chunks of -10% durability if they aren't careful.

Don't freak out. This only affects level 60 characters. And more to the point once you reach Hell Act 1 & 2, 20k is literally 10-20mins of killing. 1/2 my drops in Act 1 inferno are 500+gold, I've seen up to 800+gold and my gold find % is in the single digits.
People who say 'Just don't die' clearly don't play a DH on Inferno. This change for ranged classes is going to hurt a lot more than for melee. Wizards, DH and WD are more or less all one-shot death classes in Inferno, so our gear breaks exponentially faster than a Barb or Monk's. Being a ranged class just got very expensive.

problem is I need better gear, how do I get better gear? by farming inferno but to farm inferno i need better gear, see the viscious circle there?
also I tried doing so Act 4 Hell runs, got absolutly nothing over like 10+ tries, everything I got was either something worse or something not helping that much (like +30 HP WoW, i'm so gonna tank Inferno Diablo now)
and for the AH everything costs millions, I've tried selling things, nothing sells and I can't get more thant 30-40 before it's spent on gem combining/leveling jeweler/blacksmith/potions/repairs etc...
while I do agree prices for repair are laughable i'd increase them by 2 or 3 MAX but 4 times MIN is simply too much...

I think you are right. If they don't stop the glass cannon builds, it'll just get completely out of control to where if you don't have one you can't compete with those who do.

but they themselves said that Wiz ARE glass cannon, now you,re saying they want wiz with 2k rez and 5k armor with 70k HP? that's a barbarian or a monk... long range are meant to die withing 2 to 3 hits, but in result they have thigns to avoid damage, like teleport diamond skin, spirit walk, vault, smokescreen etc... Monks and Barb are meant to be tanks...

I agree, current repair costs feels fine to me.
Only thing that comes to mind is RMAH, we can buy gold there, I guess they really want us to do that.
Its quotes like these that just make me go WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!!!??? I just don't get it... You honestly believe that a whole quote talking about how death has little meaning atm in D3 and how that plays into poor gameplay and the three solutions they had in mind one of which may net them a few bucks on the RMAH and its instantaneous conspiracy.
Give it up people. There is no giant conspiracy. If you don't want to use the RMAH then don't. If you do then do it. Its clearly not integral to how the game functions. You just as easily can make gold selling items on the gold auction house. Is this just another tactic to control your brain??
I'll just be happy when EVERYone realizes the RMAH is a 3rd party selling site that removes all the bad aspects of buying third party and lets you make money in the mean time off of Blizzard's work.

I bet you've combined WAY more gems than you've died, so in the long run it should balance out....well, until you start making gems > Flawless Square.
