I watched about half of the G20 movie, letting the other half load right now. (Watching it at 720p.) It's amazing how many rights they took away... And if they would take one of my loved ones like that, I'd probably go batshit crazy. <_<
Every time I see the thread title I can see some US law maker saying "Challenge accepted!" lol.

Dae, As soon as I saw your post I watched the movie, knowing it would at least open me a bit more to the world, as all your posts usually do, But this. Boy have I ever been so appalled in my life. The amount of civil rights taken away by the police is astonishing. Then to find out they didn't even have that right! Geez, It amazes me how our world has come to globally accept this and to shun all this bullshit. I came out of watching that 2 Hour movie with a couple of things in mind:
1) I still hate people who do violent protesting as it only gives another reason for lawmakers everywhere to shut peaceful protestors down as well.
2) The police who incited some of this stuff should be tried for their crimes of "conspiracy to incite mischief" as one man was arrested for in the movie.
3) I hate governments even more than I already do.
I was surprised to see the beating dealt out by police force when people were willing to be taken, At one point the police said "You will be arrested, We would like to do this orderly and peacefully" yet when they come to arrest them they barge in grab them by whatever they can and drag them forcefully from their spot. Ironic how if anything, they themselves were more violent then the protesters, and should be the ones being arrested.
I want to join the Military, and become a part of the 75th regiment of Rangers, but this is not what I want to stand for. I want to go into battle and say I am fighting for freedom, for the peace of my nations, for the peace of nations around the world. I don't want to incite violence but instead put an end to it by eliminating those who look to incite it. Ridding the world of terrorists, and people who seek to take away our basic freedoms is what i strive for now. I want to save lives, so they can live another joyous day in a land where they don't have to abide by stupid laws that force us to lose our own rights, I want the world to know all they can about our government so that they can understand. There needs to be more openness in our government, and if they can't give us that, then we need to have a revolution, and we have to take back the land we won from Britain over a hundred years ago. Soon the Statue of Liberty is nearing its 125th anniversary, We the people should remind those in power what it stands for, a symbol of Freedom from oppression, a symbol that this country, yours, and mine, lets us be who we want to be without the pressure of being hurt demoralized, or denied. I can't say I truly love living this country anymore.

Heh, don't get me started on the Statue of Liberty.
Anyway, yea, at one point I wanted to enlist too. Now...not so much...
Do you have something against the statue?
And I do plan to proceed with becoming a member of the United States Army, Albeit with doubt, I feel the need to serve and save lives, Ironically I'll be taking some surely.

The rich elite of France give it to the rich elite of America, who then procede to state that it's a symbol of freedom for the poor? It just seems to me personally as a symbol of decadence from one nation to another.
Oh, and fyi, there are two statues of liberty. Look up the one in France. (I cannot remember if the French one or the American one was built first.)

It's important we have forces to defend us, unfortunately our forces are more used for attacking. I commend you for the decision anyways it seems like you're doing it for the right reasons.
I have a lot of family and friends both in the military and veterans.

Lol I do know there are two, Ours came first, And the reason it is a Statue of "Liberty" is because it is modeled after the goddess Libertas who obviously was the goddess of liberty. She holds a slate that has the 4th of July on it and broken chains at her feet to symbolize our freedom from the British government. This is why it is a symbol of freedom, and as far as I can tell what our country has always been about.
Edit: To Daemaro, I want to join because when i was around 12~13 I had an uncle who is a Surgeon and I was fascinated at how they go into the ER everyday and attempt to save a life, no matter what race, Ethnic Background or religion they are from. They sit there and operate for hours to save those people from death or pain. This inspired me to become a Cardiovascular surgeon, but when i turned 14 I started on Chemistry in High school, and lets just say that turned out less than pleasing, So I decided against it and looked for another way to save peoples lives, Viola The Military, albeit with Drawbacks and allot of Irony, It is probably the most direct way to save peoples lives. You are preventing the incidents before they ever grow large enough to injure millions of people. That is how I see it anyway, as I know there are many many views on the Military and their place in our world.

To defer to my avatar's poetic words: "This world is ruled by violence, but I guess that's better left unsaid."
As a peace corp. volunteer who's worked closely with the military in the past, i'll say that there are redeeming persons and qualities in the US armed forces, but I also have to agree they've been as much a problem as any human creation. Your biggest concern with the military right now would probably be the government budget cuts. The boots of today are not going to recieve the lavish vet. benefits of previous generations and i'm quite skeptical of anyone who says the boys and girls in uniform will always be taken care of.

Pff, the Chinese are way ahead of us in this regard too.
Anyway, I added the Into the Fire movie to the original post for easier access to anybody who wants to see it.
