I think the main issue is it really does feel like I'm being forced to play a role I didn't sign up for. Now I haven't touched Inferno yet but I'm having a hell of a time in Hell. If the trend continues I just don't want that. Maybe it is just a gear thing in Inferno, although I've seen some ridiculous posts about people with damn good gear still having to play a very defensive role. I'm fine with Inferno being really hard and we hit a gear wall, but I want to eventually play the class the way it was sold to me.
Well what monks had going wasn't really an exploit. They nerfed two things, one was a bug where an ability that granted extra spirit on crit was always giving the extra spirit, I was fine with them changing that. Then though they nerfed a ability by half that heals us and creates a a shield for a few seconds. This was only really "exploitable" in hell and still you could be hit faster than you could heal/shield/build spirit.
I dunno I started out Barbarian and didn't want to be forced into a "tankish" feeling role, so I switched to monk which should be fast paced DPS, well right now it's just as tanky if not more so than barbarian so I'm just gonna take a break until they get their ducks in a row.
I've never played monk, so I don't know. But for a melee class, a few seconds of shielding seems to make sense.
Smokescreen on the other hand was just cheese. An archer should have to be constantly mobile, and getting to stand around that long with invulnerability was just crazy. It didn't feel right to me.
So glad they took care of force armor too. I'd loveto see this game balacned around PvM and inferno difficulty eventually. No class should be so obviously over or under powered that they aren't a viable choice.
Edit: Took out one word with 4 occurences in 4 sentences. I've got such stupid habbits when I'm typing fast. LOL
I agree, I loved my SS cheesing, but I'm really, really happy it's fixed. I'm all of the sudden trying out my own build which I think may or may not work, and I've actually been able to clear every champ mob and killed the butcher in act 1 inferno =) So it's working !

So it's not so much the fact that Inferno is going to be hard, it's that the class becomes not what it's supposed to be in order to even have a single chance at surviving.
The key word there is surviving. Yes, you totally need to play defensively while trying to progress / farm inferno. It won't be until you've gotten a TON of really good gear that you can switch to a more dps-ey build while still being able to survive, and that's for every class. I'm a DH and before the nerf that's all I used (ss) which got me and my buddy to act 2 inferno. Well, even SS couldn't save me from little bugs one shotting me in act 2 lol. But after the nerf I was like EFF, i've only got 38k dps but 13k hp. Well, I switched a ton of gems around, bought some dex / resis all + vita gear, and I just cleared every champ pack and the boss in act 1 inferno, and I'm at 25k hp and like 27k dps (like 15k w/o sharpshooter).
And even with that change, i'm having SO much more fun now that I don't feel like I NEED to use that broken build to win =D Also, looks like the new runes for the nerfs are in, plus a couple other changes such as my grenades passive suddenly doing 800% wpn dmg when I die lol.
I can't believe how much faster I am able to plow through normal mode with the Barbarian. Just a brutal ass kicking tank!
Sorry I haven't posted a lot in the last few days, a lot of posts I see I want to comment on but work plus getting ready to close (finally) on a new house has kept me busy, even away from the gym for a few days. Kind of a happy yet frustrating thing. But I always wind my night down with at least an hour of Diablo 3.
I wish I could still play games casually like that. Now it's like a drug. I just play and play and play until I'm almost sick of it.
It's bad, although I'm getting slightly better but unfortunately I find I'm lurking on this site more than normal... I'm glad work is slack right now. On another note I see so many people using the 300% mana regen build for Inferno WD's and it makes me sad because I don't want to use that approach... I hope mine works but I doubt it will.

Playing Diablo since 97. I know nothing and having nothing good to say, I be a troll.
so I switched to monk which should be fast paced DPS, well right now it's just as tanky if not more so than barbarian so I'm just gonna take a break until they get their ducks in a row.
You trying to troll me brah?
I'm rolling through inferno with 20 k hp and 13 k damage on my monk.

I'm a level 43 Monk in Nightmare Act 2 and have somewhere around 8k HP I think. Before I had 10k HP but had to replace items to get my DPS up...so I think 20k in Inferno is legit...my DPS is almost 800 atm; it may sound little, but Act 2 is fucking easy...
Edit: Gooby, why didn't you add me on battlenet you loser?!I know if we want to play together one of us will have to switch regions, but we can be friends at least with people in other regions right?!

I did try add you, nearly 5 days ago. So maybe you can't be friends with people in other regions.
20k is not even half as much as you need for Inferno. I have 37k.
I struggle against the the boss' but apart from that its fine. A lot of mobs do one hit me though, so it requires very careful playing. I don't need HP when I have serenity! Most other monks I see do have 30k +
keep an eye on the big guy to the left, he takes off his jacket, then his tie. hes ready for the fight. he becomes the centre of the fight very quickly
Too bad they outlawed fighting here in the US Congress while in session, it would make politics interesting again
Yeah Freddy I don't miss getting exp as much when killing stuff but everytime I turn in a quest it hurts my heart to see I only got like 1600 gold and nothing else.
I wanted to get on and check my auctions before I go outside for once and hope I don't burst into flames immediately. I hope I have time to run to shade. Auction house is down though.
Also yeah apparently I have a TON of tanking stats but almost no DPS, I need a better weapon but they're all ridiculous amounts of gold right now.
Well I finally hit 12 deaths now, just killed the siege breaker in act 3 NM. I can't wait for patches... It's painful being on any D3 forum right now. I wonder if I should sell my crappy yellows or keep salvaging them.... It's not like you can get a large margin since the market is saturated.
PS... I love you guys... and girls. Just sad it's empty in here but I understand why.

The market is getting less and less saturated as they fix classes and farm spots so if it's a good yellow for a class I'd hold onto it and sell it later or sell it now. Mats will always be coming in.

So if you add me I won't be able to confirm it til Monday.

Funny you talk about HP like it's money, I was thinking yeah 37/k in the bank is pretty good.
