And to the person who wrote the letter, No randomized dungeons have not been removed, they have an even better system for it from what I gather, even some random adventures "quests" that can be strewn through dungeons and what not.
They have an entire engine they created for randomizing the dungeons and areas of the game.
Also I think your note is well thought out, but partially uninformed, do more research.
Watch all of the Dev Panel video, and the Enviro Panel, and the Gameplay Video, and the Teaser, and read up on this site.
Especially before actually sending a letter to Blizzard.
Mario...you didn't really understand what we mean by this letter do you?.... we do NOT want different setting of the game... we want darker and more diablo-ish feeling... not this warcraft pooh world...
You havn't seen the damn world! What you have seen is a 20 min gameplay trailer of an area made to show off the current state of Diablo 3. Diablo 3 is not even in the pre-alpha stage.
Not to mention that this game does not look like Warcraft at all.... I swear people see Warcraft graphics anywhere when it comes to 3D gaming unless the game is made to run on a damn super computer (Assassin Creed/Crysis). These people are going to start seeing Warcraft in their Toast for christ sakes!
Wait until you get all the information before you form an opinion.
It's about time for Blizzard to make games compatible with Linux.
To TychusFindlay
If you don't know anything about Linux, please don't talk.
I think that Blizzard supporting Linux is a good idea, maybe more large gaming companies would follow, this could definitely help Linux grow as an OS especially in popularity.
It's not like it would take them THAT much time to do so, it would be icing on the cake if they did.
I would dual-boot Linux/Windows XP if they had D3 on Linux I would probably boot it up on there instead of XP.
First of all you need to realize that this is Barbarian armor and not ALL armor
The Witch-Doctor is got tribal feather and leather type armor
Also, another point to note - The Barbarians in Diablo 3 have (been reported to have) changed somewhat. Becoming more fierce and barbaric
Mario...you didn't really understand what we mean by this letter do you?.... we do NOT want different setting of the game... we want darker and more diablo-ish feeling... not this warcraft pooh world...
You definitely should not have mentioned your warcraft thought... flaming has and shall erupt upon you for this Blasphemy.
Diablo 3 still retains most of the darkness of the series in my opinion, it just adds a little color to top it off, they want the game to appeal to larger audiences of course, a little color and new atmosphere to the game's look help greatly.
1. The graphics need to look more realistic (Diablo-esque)...not like WoW.
2. Some of the demons/monsters need to be renamed. (Thousand Pounder?)
3. The lighting and texture need to be altered a bit. (Darker environments and more corpses are good)
4. The new skill & damage systems need to be a tad more like that which was in Diablo II. As is, it is too much like Wow and Guild Wars.
5. They need to reintroduce the majority of classes in the previous installment to properly continue the story.
6. The inventory is interesting, but again, too much like WoW and Guild Wars.
7. Despite the new concept of health orbs being innovative, they make the game too easy and less Diablo like.
8. Despite the Witch Doctor being a new and interesting class which had much thought placed into it, it isn't exactly crucial to the storyline nor does it follow the (original or Knaak) lore.
a guy talking out his *** if ya ask me, NO-ONE has played the game and yet you guys critiicize an act 1 area. "too WoW-ish" come on dude, who the **** do you think you are? the lead developer or something?
Well you tell me I lost my credibility after not carrying about your opinion and then you said, in other words, to Tychus shut up ...YES that makes YOU the one who should jugde...
What do you think? How credible are you now after this?
He was saying to not talk about Linux if he didn't know about it. Opinions on any subject are not very respected or even listened too if they are not backed up by knowledge.
Why would blizzard add linux support? Most games do not add native linux support, anyways. Linux isn't meant for gaming and you must accept that. Linux is more towards information and ... crap. People who own linux generally know how to pirate games, and often do so. Why would a company invest money into making their games easier to get stolen off the internet, resulting in a loss of income?
I agree with Micah, on watching the dev panels, as they explained a LOT about the whole "cartoony" debate thing. Realism isn't really on their mind, right now. They want a fantasy game where you can blow up stuff, because as they've said: Monster + explosion = awesome (ted nugent?)
I agree with OP, i saw all the in game renders at the blizzard site, and they deviate so much from the beautifully drawn concept art. post some in game screens of d2 armor... it looked so much better, even though its all sprites.
No, I'm the guy that has waited the better part of a decade for this game to be announced and actually gives a damn about how it turns out. We want Diablo III to be perfected in every possible aspect. Now stop flaming other members.
But the problem is people are basing their assumptions on half facts. If the girl cries rape do you believe her right away or do you get the other guys side of the story?
Odd analogy but the point still stands. Wait for more information until you go on a flaming wagon.

Wraak very true and valid points.
The game will be fine no matter how "dark" or "cartoony" the graphics are, even though in my opinion they are NOT cartoony at all, and DEFINITELY not WoW-like, so please just don't even mention those games here, this is Diablofans.com not Warcraftfans.com...
I agree with OP, i saw all the in game renders at the blizzard site, and they deviate so much from the beautifully drawn concept art. post some in game screens of d2 armor... it looked so much better, even though its all sprites.
WTF... are you serious? The last armor I put on in D2 turned my entire character purple.
Give me epic and crazy looking armor any day. I want to look like a bad ass and not some pansy. I need to look like I can take on the world. I don't care if the armor isnt practical in real life, its a damn game.
As many times as needs be for all the people whining about change to stop created stupid threads it seems.
They've already talked about the focus to retain the gothic style and I trust them to do that.
as do i.
i mean all of you were "CONVINCED" d3 would never come out and they delivered. why do you not trust them when they say they will stay true the the Franchise and just move foward from there.
its not pay to play
its not from a different gameplay perspective; still top down
its still randomized maps for replayability
its still bloody/gory
it still has returning characters/npcs
it still have returning skills
its still heavily mouse click oriented gameplay.
blizzard is ALREADY aware of our concerns of its art direction for they stated that on the 2nd of WWI. Sure, express your concerns by do not shun the game already for if you do you are a complete jackass and not a FAN at all, therefore leave this site.
Blizzard will be smart about it, make areas that should/need to be darkened caves/dungeons etc and still continue to expand on their great artistic abilities in different regions of Santuary by keeping different themes going and keeping the game's visual appeal fresh.
No, I'm the guy that has waited the better part of a decade for this game to be announced and actually gives a damn about how it turns out. We want Diablo III to be perfected in every possible aspect. Now stop flaming other members.
not flaming, just criticizing the criticizer. i just think you guys really need to take a look at what was shown, possibly a level 10 boss being taken down by a bunch of level 15's 20's, do you want them to be shown dying and having an unsuccessful gameplay demo? the game is meant to be made the way it is, this is not diablo 2 and if you want to play diablo 2 then by all means, go play diablo 2. they are simply improving on what is an old system, every skill having a 20 max in d2.. and not even all the skills we're worth it.. everything is made like this for a reason! okay in the video theres a rainbow.. .wait wait no it's not, have you ever looked into a spray of water cause it will do that. it's colourful OMG! yeah? its called the sun, the enviourment is colourful as is real life. if you want to play a black and white game, change your monitor settings please. also that armor you saw, definately not high level armor Okay??? if you look at the concepts you will see what a piece of high level armor will look like, stop criticizing the damn game when you haven't even touched it. we saw literally two small sections of diablo 3, yes mobs we're getting one hit.. that's the point of a gameplay demo. im done, if i find anything else to say ill post it up.
Originally I thought Diablo 3 had too much color and too big of armor. And I have too agree that these things have increased somewhat BUT Diablo 2 had more color and bulky armor than you remember
First of all you need to realize that this is Barbarian armor and not ALL armor
The Witch-Doctor is got tribal feather and leather type armor
Also, another point to note - The Barbarians in Diablo 3 have (been reported to have) changed somewhat. Becoming more fierce and barbaric
I'm aware that bulky armor isn't completely foreign, and I'm not completely against all bulk. It's all about just how bulky and mismatched you make it. The concept art there on the geocities link in my opinion is disgusting, and not what was actually used in game thankfully.
The D3 barbarian page is almost good, except for his belt(I can live with some items being this way, it's nice to have variety)... but most importantly the fact that you can't tell what material he's wearing. I actually like what appears to be his starting gear in the sort of imitation character select screen on the site. Not that I expect him to run around half naked for much of the game, just sayin'
The other two pictures you linked from D2 have a nice balance between realism, shine, and bulk / spikes etc, imo although they could be improved upon considering they're really old.
The other pictures from your newer post - the barbarian looks awesome in my opinion. Still pretty bulky and detailed, while keeping the colours somewhat matching and leaving some areas free to be smooth and reflective, showing it's actually plate.
The green sorceress is kinda weird, but at least she matches.
The druid.......dotdotdot.. yeah he's ugly >_< d2 wasn't perfect That isn't the general style they went with or that people enjoyed though. I'm concerned about the general style more than the oddball occurances that happen less often.
Just another thing, not a complaint though. Asymmetrical armor rocks! I hope we see more of it
It's a huge company and could easily do it. Tons of smaller companies did it.

That whole relation doesn't make sense, and I bet you a bigger percentage of Windows users knows how to pirate games as well. Again, all Windows games can be played on Linux through extra programs, but they would be played under worser conditions. Do you think Linux users would be too keen to buy the game instead of pirating it when they know it would run bad on their system?
