I would suppose Blizz would include the option of turning it on/off.
You could disable the mic feature and not hear anyone.

They already said in the Q & A panel that there would be an in-game speaking option.

Personally i have used the voice chat function in WoW...and it worked good....I use Ventrillo for some other games...so I think it would be a great addition....typing is too slow. plus i cant stand the normal chat shorthand....."y r u typing like dat"

Oh my god, yes, that annoys the hell out of me. It makes people sound like five year olds.

Diablo isn't a game where you need voice chat. We're not playing WoW here, people.

Yeah there should be, of coarse there's gonna be the losers that just act dumb but, I'd say it'd be a good thing especially for dueling and partying

I'd like voice chat, but people better use chat too, it'd really ruin the immersion if all of a sudden when we kill a boss and our characters trying to say something I hear, "OMG OMG PHAT LEWTZ HOOOOOLLLLLAAYY SHIT!! FUCK OH MYY GOD WOOHOO".

I voted yes. Ventrilo costs money. Integrated voice chat is easier.

Hard to say. Would work great for small groups of 1-4, but with all 8 people in the game using it at once, could be a nightmare.

i havent seem any threads about this.. but yea i think it would be good to enable ingame voice.. i dont feel like typing so many things to every1.. like strats.. trades and stuff u know.. it would be much easier and save us a lot of time.. like when your doing a dungeon.. u dont have to stop running to type..

I think its a must. If you don't want to hear people, you can always mute them.

In game voice has it's advantages and disadvantages. If this is included in Battle.net 2.0 there must be a way to mute people. I have played a lot of COD4 online and when I have a full group of my friends the voice is great, when I am not it can get quite annoying.
