Everyone is like: Diablo was realeased 96/97 it's 10th birthday should be celebrated!
What I find strange is that no one mentioned Diablo II, 2000. Maybe they will do something on 2010, also if there's a BlizzCon in 2008-10 then I'm ready to freak. I mean, why celebrate the game that most "gamers" think sucks(1) (the ones of todays world). Blizzard would want to celebrate Diablo II, when millions are still playing today (ok maybe 100,000's, I don't know anything for sure this just came to my head).
(1) I remember how Siaynoq was saying how he was so shocked thateveryone on Diablo II was saying "oh diabloo sux this sh1t is pwnz0rz. d2 ftw!!" Do you think that Blizzard would want to surprise the 1,000 members here who go into Diablo lore and care so much about the books and everything about it? Or the 7 million that purchased Diablo II?

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
What I find strange is that no one mentioned Diablo II, 1999. Maybe they will do something on 2009, also if there's a BlizzCon in 2009 then I'm ready to freak. -Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
Diablo II released in June 2000
LOD released in June 2001
so 10 years makes 2010 and 2011, like you said, just thought id clarify which game was which year.
I tried to find the bliizard news article on "5 years of Diablo II", but they dont archive back that far. least i dont think they do, that or i just didnt look hard enough.

like many blizzard games it had a scheduled december 31 release. dec 31 1999, then it got pushed back to june 2000.
least thats what i recall, not sure if its correct, but all we really need to know is it came out in 2000.

I saw that too, on my SC case. Stupid false advertising... Did blizz just put in on Dec 31st to make it count as '99, but really, for all intents and purposes, it was in 2000?
Blizzard always slates their games with a projected release date of Dec 31, then based on whether they think they have all the bugs (or at least most of them) or if other things need touching up or not, they will move the release date either forward or backwards.

Um, I think that Blizzard cares about all Diablo fans, regardless of the reasonsthey play Diablo 1 or 2. So just because there are more fans of Diablo II than the first Diablo, that doesn't mean they should disregard what fans appreciated about the first one. Ya know?
