But you do see Marvel at the beginning of games like Spiderman or DC at the beginning of a batman game. And more people watch the opening cinematic more then the credits I would think.
That's because they own the rights...
Blizzard North does not own the rights for the Diablo series.
Blizzard North does not own the rights for the Diablo series.
LOL, aahhh thank you for pointing out my stupidity.

"The most tragic thing about religion is that evangelical people who have such a degree of blind faith, who do and believe terrible things because they are sold as the will of God. Unfortunately this is almost half of America and leads to such things as electing George Bush, twice..."
True they don't own the rights, ANYMORE. When Blizzard North was still in existance, they created and developed the game right? And before Blizzard North was made, Condor still was developing the game when Blizzard hired them.
Anyways, now the argument is about indirect and direct influences:
First off, Bill Gates may have created Microsoft, but did he create Blizzard? Did he created Condor? Did he create the DIablo series and franchise? No, he did not, but he still contributed to them INDIRECTLY for creating Windows and Microsoft.
AS for Blizzard North, they CREATED (pay attention to the capitalized), CREATED, CREATED, the DIablo series, franchise, and universe. They also DEVELOPED the game to what is today (Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction).
Yes, yes, you are right. Blizzard North made Diablo and Diablo 2/LoD. They do not exsist to make Diablo 3, thus they have as much a right to get credit to Diabo 3 as Atari or Bill Gates or Nintendo, or anyone who contributed even the smallest.
Fact is, the only reason people want Blizzard North on Diablo 3 is essentially nestalgia.
Did Bill Gates create the Diablo Universe/Series/Franchise? NO
Did Atari create the Diablo Universe/Series/Franchise? NO
Did Nintendo create the Diablo Universe/Series/Franchise? NO
Did Blizzard North AKA Condor Studios create the Diablo Universe/Series/Franchise? YES
Thing of it as like this:
Atari, Nintendo, Bill Gates, and whatever, created the building blocks. Condor Studios/Blizzard North used these building blocks to create a solid foundation for Diablo that has lasted for many years. Now the new team thats going to created Diablo 3, is going to build atop this foundation:
Building Blocks: Bill Gates & Friends
Foundation & Lower Spire: Condor Studios/Blizzard North
Upper Spire & Head (Pending): New Diablo 3 team
As for your nostalgia comment, we all have nostalgia for coming to play Diablo
(Note: Its Natural)
But you do see Marvel at the beginning of games like Spiderman or DC at the beginning of a batman game.
They own the right to Spiderman franchise. But the comic writers of Turok simply wrote the comics, they do not own them. Same with Blizzard North. They wrote Diablo, but they don't own it anymore, and so they are not listed because the listing are made for advertisement. How can you advertise a dead company?
If you ever played WoW, there is this in-game monument dedicated to a developer who died before the release. Seeing how Blizzard has done this before, why not a monument or a rememberance credit to Blizzard North?
That's a different story. If they want to monument something, fine. But Blizzard North should not be listed as neither a developer nor franchise owner.
Fail to see how it is a different story, due to the person died and is a developer to the WoW franchise, just like Blizzard North is dead and created/developed the Diablo Universe and franchise.
They are not obligated to do it. They did it because the felt like it, but they don't have to do it with Blizzard North.
Considering that there was a huge fuss with Hellgate because of Flagship Studious, which is partially Blizzard North, maybe Blizzard is not all that eager to commemorate them.

He is a developer of the WoW franchise, commemorated in WoW. Blizzard North developed Diablo II and should be commemorated in Diablo II, not in Diablo III which they'll never touch, probably.
Never touch? Diablo 3 is going to be based upon the foundation of Diablo 1 and 2, its the universe that Blizzard North made, that they are expanding. How is it, they will never touch?
And Diablo 3 is going to be based on the foundation of the computer operating system that bill gates made. And Diablo 3 is going to be based on the home gaming notion that Atari and Nintendo pioneered.
Why do I keep coming into this thread?... I honestly don't get what's hard about this logic...

Ok, ok, in my closing statement before ignoring this thread completely, Blizzard North did not touch Diablo 3 directly. Thus they do not deserve direct credit. If you give them credit for indirectly touching Diablo 3, you must, by the same logic, give Bill Gates, Atari, Nintendo, and everyone else credit for indirectly touching Diablo 3. It is a simple concept really, giving credit to only those that worked on it.
Nope. Unless they came back as ghosts to their death day party or something... they are gone.

There is nothing unique about Diablo's universe, firstly. 300 such universes can be made in a split second. Look at how many books Knaak managed to write off the bat.
Secondly, they still don't touch the game. They just made something prior to the game. Just as some developer first made up the idea of motion capture for sprites, and Diablo II used that. Or Someone developed scrolling... or the Hack&Slash style. Diablo II has many foundations, much stronger and more serious foundations than its feeble "universe".
But I have to say the Diablo universe is unique because... it's Diablo. I've read almost all the Diablo novels, I like Diablo.
What I'm trying to say is Hellgate is Hellgate but Diablo is Diablo. It is unique, it has the history of Diablo and D2 being successful games, with an established universe that's cool.
That prolly made no sense, hard to explain. I'm actually more of a game play person myself screw the universe LOL
You can have the best story ever but if the game sucks to play it fails.

Blizzard North doesn't even exist anymore so why would they put it on it? It was closed down and the team was moved to Blizzard HQ and integrated into the rest of Blizz staff.
