Please keep all current skills and classes discussion here, thanks. ~Atrumentis
Well we know what 2 are and that there will be 5. A likely place to look to start guessing would be Diablo 2 Characters.
-Barbarian is obviously in and looks pretty copy/paste with a few new toys.
-Necromancer, always a little out of place, but looking at the new witch doctor, has a lot of similar traits (summoner/curses) and spells (confusion/raise dead/corpse explosion)
This leaves the others. Druid, Sorceress, Assassin, Paladin and Amazon
Out of all the remaining ones I believe that the Sorceress is the next mos likely to be brought in, in some form of elementalist. Everything seems rather Shamanistic so I wouldn't be supprised if they were literally brought in the form of a shaman.
My next guess would be an Amazon, seeing as a ranged attacker (bow/Javalins) is usually one of the most popular ones, it suits the current theme/feel. There is a possibility it might be combined with the Assassin, which is just a random idea. I believe it beacuse the amazon was always rather plain (spam multishot/straffe/guided arrow/lightning java depending on build) and the assassin was quite interesting but not as desired/powerful. I could logically see Martial Arts and Traps mixing with Bows and Javelins... Be interesting to get charges off shots and then release them with say a melee attack for a powerful effect.
That just leaves Druid and Paladin, and possibly Assassin. I honestly thought the druid was pretty bad/boring and never got far with one (made one were wolf with elite rib cracker once, was average) and Paladin was also lacking, it was pretty much go hammer or go home. I actually think the way the witch doctor works, it is like Druid combined with Necro, making it likely the last one will be a Paladin, but hopefully a more righteous arse kicking one than the one from Diablo 2.
What does everyone else think? Any ideas?

There will for sure be a Mage or something thats incredibly close.
I also expect the ranged type class will return in the form of a Ranger.
As for the last remaining class, I'm not quite sure. I do not expect to see the Paladin, Assassin or Druid to make a return.
Remember, not that classes can be both male or female, the names will have to be gender neutral, unless they do a Sorceror/Sorceress deal, which is fine by me. Until then, I'm using gender neutrality.
I think the Assassin had too much potential to not get re invited back... I like the idea of a ranger, utilizing traps, bows and hopefully some martial arts combo's.
I definitely think the druid is out, but I also think the druid is basically fused with the necro to become the witch doctor.
I'm most interested in the elementalist and potential rogue/range, the Paladin will have to have something seriously awesome about it to make me interested.

I never thought of the idea of a rogue. That would fit nicely into the game.. Having a very agility based hero. Specializes in either Bow/Dagger/Javalin and has skills that buffer weapon dmg ect. I don't think we will be seeing much of a druid either, dissappointing yes. I can assure you that we will be seeing some sort of elementalist in the game. My guess for the other one character is the Paladin/Death Knight combonation rolled into one character. A knight, which can choose a holy or undead tree to follow down. This may not work considering you will be able to branch out into both creating some sort of Holy undead knight but hey, its an idea.
Well, I can tell you for sure that 2 of the other classes are paladin and a amazon type class. Why? If you watch the gameplay video and look at the loot that drops, you will see that a bow drops, and a shield drops. In my mind those items are a direct result of those 2 classes. As for the 5th class... Sorceress. No way they will have only 1 magic user and the paladin is definitely a hybrid.
Paladin
barbarian
necro (witch doctor gets scrap and then remove from game, i love the necro too much for it to be replace lol)
Amazon
Sorceress/Warlock (Female or Male)
Barbarian: Already confirmed.
Witch Doctor: Looks qute exciting, though it will probably mean that there is no necro
I think it will be:
Shaman: Has to be, no RPG is complete without some kind of Mage. I think it will be some kind of combination between a Sorc and a Druid. Amazon: I think there will be some kind of ranged-physical class, and the Amazon fits the bill, as well as the theme Assassin: Can't see the Assassin being left as it is pretty much a staple for any RPG aswell.
I'm abit confused really, only 5 classes but that isn't enough to cater for all the classes and gameplay that was in Diablo II. I can't really imagine there being no Paladin, yet I can't imagine Diablo without any of the other 3 that I named!
My thoughts are that most of these classes are pretty hybrid of old classes. I suspect like in one of my old posts.
Revised list
-Barbarian - (barbarian, brute force shouts/melee damage)
-Witch Doctor - (Necromancer mixed with some Druid, summons the dead, uses curses, uses fire, I can see him summoning party helping pets like spirits)
-Elementalist - (shamanisitic caster using fire/ice/lightning, possibly have a warlock/dark side to him/her)
-Ranger/Rogue - (Assassin/Amazon Hybrid, using traps/bows/combo's)
-Paladin - (unsure)

Ah touche, I hadn't thought of that, that would be kind of cool, like how the Priest is in WoW now, except with a big recking machine melee bad ass side.

There might only be 5 classes, but don't forget we have no idea how customizable these characters may be. We don't know the skill or stat systems yet. Two barbarians could end up being very different, making it seem a lot more robust than simply adding 2 more characters. I'm all for a lot of characters, but I'd love to see a lot of different builds. I don't want it to be like WoW, where all high level characters are the same.

Witch Doctor
Paladin
Sorc
Rogue
Basically the Assassin, Necro, and Zon get left out. Rogue is basically going to be the Ass/Zon in this one.
Edit-Whoops had 1 to many
Only 5 classes. Your list without the Druid is what I think it'll be.

Really?
That's awesome if true.
The FAQ says 5.
