See, these are the kinds of subject that I'd like to see petition's for, not people complaining about a little bit of colour.. Its drastic changes like these that deserve a ton of complaints, and petitions... I personally loved the D2 inventory..

Lace me with the words of destruction and I'll explode, but supply me with the will to survive and watch the world grow.
The only thing I don't like about the new system is the less detailed pics. Even the enlarged pic on hover isn't much larger/more detailed.

I'm going to miss seeing the big spears looking awesome and opening up my inventory to see that archon plate... I don't know why but it makes me feel all giddy inside those AP's do...
Either way though, the images for the items are really small and not very detailed. Even if they are single-slot, at least blow em up a bit.
yeah but now you actually get to see how the stuff you wear looks on your character in great detail. seeing detail in inventory < seeing detail on the character. I can live with that.
I think the inventory is ok i mean yay we get to hold alot more items but i definetley like the d2 one better because it made you tak eonly what you needed and it was actually cooler the weps were much bigger and easier to see what they look like i would keep d2 inv but make it a lil bigger cause it was kinda small

If the hover we've seen were to include a large scale preview of the item being viewed, in a size similar to what we would expect had the inventory taken the route of the tetris-style arrangements, it would at least provide some comfort to fans disagreeing with the situation. This would at the same time ween itself away from certain WoW influences, and provide a more classic approach allowing for Diablo-esque item art appreciation.
If it's not Diablo 2 with better graphics, a retro inventory system, constant potion management cramming, so dark you can't see, it's not good, it's lame

ERGH, I agree with most of your post then you have to bring up WoW.
Baldur's Gate had a one slot system long before WoW.

Indeed, however to say the developers were influenced more by a game released years before than a closer and more recent project, would be a ludicrous assessment, despite its ultimate origins.

Yes but where do you think they got the idea of WoW having 1 slot items? They weren't near the first to think this up.

As stated, its original origins does not matter, as is whether or not it is a valid form of arrangement. As it stands, the closest influence available to developers at the time of this games development very likely came from WoW.
^ Who Cares, Anyways, why does it matter if you cant see big blatant images of your equipment in the Inventory when you can just equip it and see the glowing, long, wide, large, smoking, steaming, sparkling, deathly, keen, poisoned, frosted, lacerated, wilted, spitted, vorpal, weapon in the first place.
the 1:1 inventory system works with the loot system.
since you can only pick up items intended for you, no one else can get them. This means you should have enough room for the item, and no one else has the possibility to get "that item".
and you never know... there could be a weight limit.
Don't care about inventory, as long as it is easy and fast to use and stuff fits there! About the item graphics all I care is that they put effort on how it looks on me, not in my dark bag!
dunno if this has been asked yet, but what are we supposed to do about charms then? do they still exist? how will they work in this new inv?
just wondering
I just hope there won't be any.. that was a stupid idea for LOD.. having inventory full of charms. Why not put those stats to items? I think there could be some special charms like anni and torch now.. you couldn't carry more than one of those.
