In the U.S. (I don't know where you live), video game clerks are not legally able to sell an M rated video game to anyone under the age limit (and you are prompted for identification.)
It's a general store policy to not sell M-rated games to 16 or under.
I was just pointing out the fact that its a non-profit organization with no legal enforcement behind it who rates games.
All the kids i know that play WoW use game cards, not credit cards.
Still updating d2? 1.11 came out what, 3 years ago? Thats hardly updating. WoW is 15 bucks a month because there is a patch of some sort that comes out every week.

And on this "kid" note: we were all kids at some point, and whether you want to admit it or not, I'm sure you've been annoying as a kid. Games are made for kids to play. We played Diablo I as kids (most of us), and Diablo II (most of us), and the expansion (most of us.) They learn from their mistakes and they grow up. I think that is one aspect that online gaming actually benefits society- there's a point when you realize how you're acting and what you're saying, and BAM you grow up. Or at least that's how it happened with me.
Hm... At least, I hope I'm growing up...
Nope... there is no law stating that a game clerk cant sell and M rated game to a minor. Just like you can't do anything to someone who lets a kid into an R rated movie. Why? Cause rating systems like the ESRB and MPAA are not government funded, but privately funded and the government has no right to enforce them.
You can buy games over the internet no matter what your age Same with porn.
No you can't, porn sites have disclaimers that say if you are a minor you are not legally able to view it. Same with M +17 games. Now, kids will always circumvent and find ways around this, I.E. lying about birthdays, falsifying documents, etc.

But every large-end retailer of video games and movie theater company holds its clerks personally to the rule that they hold as companies that they do not distribute products to underage customers. It may not be legally binding in the sense of government, but within the company it is a rule (if you look at an application for a game retailer, in most cases it will openly say this in the document.)
*Facepalm* wow... insulting poor people.. this has gotten to a whole new low. The subscription in wow dosnt stop kids from playing so why would it here? -no I just cant get over how some people dare-DARE to try and give advice on other people. Some people really cant afford a lot of stuff... saying not to buy beer... god... Im just so angry.
If anything the kids will be able to get their parents to pay it for them and it will keep the people who need to save their money out of diablo 3. *facepalm* damn...

find ways to circumvent this? all you do is click enter... lol The birthday method is a joke, and it's completely pointless. I'm over 18 and I still lie about my birthday on all of those things. I just click Jan. 1st and some random year in the early 1900's, its faster than entering a real birthday. Falsifying documents... lol what are you talking about?
Lets get back on topic eh ? We are talking about Diablo not Porn right? haha.
I mean... nothing is wrong with either one imo but seriously this is a Diablo thread.
I think it being P2P is not going to happen, it IS ON BNET.
Well remember it has been said repeatedly that battle.net will be receiving many changes and updates for SC2 and D3. One of the changes could be the P2P systems. Just a thought.
Also side note: Most players fall between the ages of 16-24 for WoW or so I read.

I been lurcking around this forum for about a week and finally registered. I just wanted to add my thoughts in about this. Read before you flame please.
There are many reasons I would like there to be a monthly fee, or at least wouldn't mind it.
1. Keep the kiddies out. I am tired of 14 year old punks ruining my gaming experience. With a monthly fee, that is payable by credit card not game card, it would get rid of a lot of immaturity and would result in a better game. The game is rated M for a reason. Go watch your bob the builder and leave the gaming to the adults, thanks.
2. If blizzard plans to regularly update this game like wow, then I don't mind one bit paying for the content. It would give extra money to blizz for new enhancements and whatnot. We were all complaining about how d2 hardly ever got updated. Well, why should they when they have no reason incentive to. Added levels, bosses, items, bug fixes, and world events is way worth the cost to me.
There are many other reason however those are the main two.
Also, something else i thought of. Let say they start out with a fee of 5-10 dollars a month. Thats cheap as hell. However, every time you are caught using a hack, cheat, or exploit they raise that price 5 dollars. It would be a incentive not to cheat because it would start effecting the wallet.
Lastly, to the people who say they they cant afford a monthly payment. Honestly, if you cant afford 15 bucks max a month then you really need to get a better job or something and not play games. Im sorry, but if you are struggling to pay that small ammount of money you have other issues.
Bring your lunch to work 3 days a MONTH and save that money.
Dont spend 19 bucks at the movies and have that money.
Dont buy a case of beer and you can have the money.
If you are responsible with it you can easily find extra money.
Well thats my two cents, flame on.
He has a point... but there is not going to be a monthly fee due to battle.net :X. sorry

Yes leave the gaming to adults to play video games, the ones who still live at home and dress up as diablo 3 characters when the game is released.
I agree with a sub, $15 a month is pocket change but get a fucking life already. Anyone who is 30+ who is into video games so much they cry about it on a forum needs to go outside and get a life.
Yes I am old enough to play this game, and old enough to have my own credit card, but really get over the fact that teenagers make up 80% of the video game market.
I can pay 15$ dollars a month... but if i'm paying im gonna want a lot more than just anti-hacking service and ''kids stay out'', I want pvp worlds, i want world servers(493893 ppl online at the same game), i want guild system, i want a new act every 2 months.
In other words, i want World of Diablo... so no, there wont be monthly fee in D3.
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.
I don't want new items anyway. I feel like my items would constantly be outdated to the new superior ones coming out! I'm sure they already have a ton anyway!
Forget paying to play im going to be really upset if you make us pay to play. just bec little annoying kids such as yourself. jk, but really that why i dont play WoW its ludicrous that i have to spend almost 60 Dollars on a game and then pay a monthly fee of $15.00 or what ever it is now

I stopped reading here, simply because you know, I know, and the person who posts next knows, (not to mention the rest of the Blizzard community knows) that a monthly fee will not keep the kiddies out.

You still get 1 month free of WoW from that $60 you pay. $15 isn't a lot and I am fine with subs for d3 if it gives us full time moderators.

I have never played a game with as many kids as WoW.
Oh look! I just nullified your argument

There you go
