I still fail to understand the superiority complex apparently held by so many "adults" on this site. For one, they claim that immature children ruin their playing experience, yet instead of just be happy with ignoring them, they continue to bitch and complain like little children themselves. You wanna prove your age gained experience and wisdom? Then I urge you ignore those that annoy you, its not like you are being forced to play with them for Christ's sake. The point about ESRB "being there for a reason" is equally stupid, the ESRB exists as a guideline, with parental consent children are allowed to play the game to their little heart's content and considering 99% of children don't have a source of their own income, their parents by them the game, thus they have parental consent. Being an adult is more than about surviving to be 19 years old, its about being able to convey your maturity in a calm manner, and making informed decisions, which aparrently many adults here lack. Please, stop bitching and when diablo III comes out ignore people you annoy you (I say people because guess what?! Children aren't the only ones who can be obnoxious, rude and annoying).

Statistics. the degree to which two or more attributes or measurements on the same group of elements show a tendency to vary together. I just copy and pasted that off of dictionary.com for you.
What I am saying is that if you are graphing the age of someone and the maturity level they won't necessarily have a positive reaction. As in, as age goes up, maturity level goes up. They can have a negative correlation, as in a 34 year old could have the maturity level of a 14 year old.
I'm saying age often times has very little to do with how mature someone is.
Also, damn I forgot your name, Mantiea(?) the comparing the banning of all people from heroin can not be compared to banning kids from video games. That is comparing apples to oranges.

Correlation implies a broader range than a single person. If Joe Dirt gets more immature as he ages, it does not mean age and maturity are correlated. Generally speaking, when the term is used you use it in a broad sense. If you are using the term in this sense, you don't make much sense.
For instance, having a healthy lifelong sex life is correlated to living a longer life.
We do not arrive at the conclusion that there is a correlation by analyzing Jane and Tom--we do so by analyzing a broader range of subjects.
Secondly, and correct me if I'm wrong--there is no fallacy called Apples and Oranges....Don't go throwing the term around if you're not familiar with the fallacy you are accusing me of committing.
Well, firstly, you are doing a Red Herring. Herione has nothing to do with the banning of kids from an internet game. I don't feel like taking the time to look through my papers from my English Composition class I took in the Spring.
I just registered real fast to post on here, and I guess I remember now why I don't typically post on forums. It is really a lot cause to try and argue anything on an internet forum. So I guess this is me signing out.
M is the rating... so pretty much anyone under -1617 shouldn't play.. but that is your parents decision. If you have any issues with that, please contact the people that rate the game.
Nuff said.

I don't think it's right to ban either adults or children.
For one anybody, at any age can be a total ass, regardless of their age.
It depends on the person so banning all the adults or the children is not only the stupidest marketing strategy that I have ever heard but it is also just plain pointless.
Retribution, you are right that it is wrong for adults to complain about children playing Diablo 3 and that it is, indeed, age discrimination.
However, I don't think that doing the same thing to the adults is fair.
When I go on a MMORPG or any online game for the matter, 80% of the time I will be playing with people that I don't know at all. So I just give everyone a chance and see if they're a douche/ass/etc. then I judge what kind of person that is. That's just my input, sorry for the wall of text...

Retribution;277327'']What makes you think you're so specially entitled to enjoying the game anymore then us? Maybe we should petition to ban adults from playing. It's about as possible and legal as banning children from playing the game. Since they cannot restrict a group of people based on Sex/Race/Age. The system where they ask for age or credit card is flawed because it is indirectly related to age., anyway of direct restriction would probably cause some problems.
Btw.
Yes, you can be restricted for your age.
Cigs? Alcohol?
Pornos? Sex store?
The back room of a video store?
Credit cards require you to be at least 18.
Where do you get your info?
Age is universally direct.
Who is going to give credit cards to let's say... a 15 year old?
I'd love to know in what country you grew up in..
As for the Diablo III and age thing?
I agree everyone should be able to enjoy the awesomeness that is Diablo. It's an awesome game.. but it's up to the parents.
The rating is there to protect the company.

Yes, a game is not like Porn and Alcohol [which i have had access to, irrevelant?]
You're just like Manteia in bringing up Cigs and Porn.

False. My argument is not a red herring.
*My conclusions are not irrelevant. A red herring, for example: I'm a nice guy and I like jello--Slipknot should make me their guitarist!
It's a red herring because being nice and liking jello has nothing to do with my chops at guitar. *
At first I thought you were talking about false analogy--which my argument is not either.
My argument pointed out that some sects are willing to ban an entire group from doing something simply because a portion of that group tends to act irresponsibly. In this sense the banning of heroine is directly related to the banning of kids from D3.
Perhaps you should take that logic class over again, mate.

Don't you hate it when an adult comes in, and just because they see some flaw in your gaming style they go "ZOMG LOOK FUCKING KID GET OFF MY GAME/INTERNET, FUCKING NOOB FUCKER GET OFF!"?
...
If you think I'm 100% serious in this thread, it's just a spoof on the floodings of threads on banning children from D3 i have been seeing.
I just threw in a moderately thought out argument that is more likely then not, full of holes that will probably get me flamed.
Anybody who talks like your above example in an online game has pinpointed their age somewhere between 12 and 21 years. In the very rare cases where someone over 21 actually talks like that, you can be assured that that person's MENTAL age is still stunted somewhere between 12 and 21.
I'm not attempting to deny that I'm complaining, I was making a counter argument against those who claim that children ruin their playing experience with immaturity, yet by complaining incessantly like this, they act like whiny children, not well composed adults. Like you for example.

Every year he grew older, he grew 1 unit more immature.

However: The law does NOT deny you the right to buy a video game.
Retailers do, to avoid bad publicity.
Because adults have more money than kids, and all retail cares about is who's got the money.
Not irrelevent.
It's there to show that age does mean something and there can be direct restrictions on you because of it.
In the world of playing Video Games, age means nothing in Law.
