One thing I do remember about the Diablo series is that we always needed a 3rd party program to back-up our characters for whatever reason. Is it possible to include one into game so we don't have to depend on one?
No it isn't. You just go into the save folder, copy every file that has the same name as your character, and put them somewhere safe. There's your backup
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
Easier just to push a button "back-up character" to a different directory. I'm just getting lazy in my old age and YEAH I have tons of backup chars out of the save folder on cd from years ago.
too much trouble for something uninteresting to them.
Most people that have internet will prefer the closed realms anyway. Every new computer has a dvd writer on it and almost everyone has a usb flash disk. We could always save our characters there (its what i still do with my WoW Add-ons, works pretty well too!).
