Hello, they call me Eskimo, but you guys can call me Esko. I have been a Blizzard fan for a few years now and have always wanted to see a class geared more towards a feudal/oriental feel...Obviously I am Asian and the truth is, we make up most of the world. Also the gaming industry was created originally in the far East so I feel that we owe it to these people to represent their culture atleast once in a while. (I am half white so none of you A. Holes can call me a racist.) I feel that we have seen representation of almost all of the other races: Barbarians(European), Witch Doctors(African), and in the first Diablo, I do believe there was an Asian Monk. But that wasn't deep enough.
Yes we all have a place in our hearts for Paladins (I myself place them lower on the list.), but with a new generation should come a new version of this blade-wielding, aggro-lusting, never wanting to die character. I propose a new class...a similarly heavy armored character that is also known for wielding 2-handed swords(aka the infamous Katana) and bringing hope to all those innocents who are lucky enough to cross his path. Those sworn to follow their master and protect him/her with their own life. We all know the story of the brave Samurai and I do not wish to soil the good name of the Paladin, but doesn't it seem like a very possible trade off. With the coming of an anticipated Diablo 3, we all know that changes must be made and sacrifices of certain classes are inevitable. As for the Paladin-Lovers...you know that certain Blood Elf will always be there, but in the words of our future president, "It's TIME FOR CHANGE!".
Please drop a comment/reply and let me know how you feel about Blizzard implementing a new Samurai/Ronin Class.
PS: If it makes you guys feel better, I was thinking more along the lines of a masterless Samurai, better known as a RONIN. One who wandered feudal Japan saving helpless civilians and rockin the formal iron-clad armor that we all know looks badass(even then...most ronin didn't have armor because they were broke, therefore they were ronin, not samurai). I just feel that Blizzard would know exactly how to make it work.
Please stop relating ninjas to samurai/ronin...Ninjas had no code of honor, they were assassins and thieves, and they traveled light (moving swiftly and diligently). Samurai are nothing like that. They followed orders given to them by their master and believed in ethics such as "Death Before Dishonor". If they were ordered to commit Hara Kiri(Suicide) by their master, it was done, no question. So what I really meant as a new class was a more adventurous type of Samurai such as a Ronin(an Ex-Samurai).
Quotes from Wikipedia:
-"A ronin (浪人, rōnin?) was a samurai with no lord or master during the feudal period (1185–1868) of Japan. A samurai became masterless from the ruin or fall of his master (as in the case of death in a war), or after the loss of his master's favor or privilege."
-The word rōnin literally means "drifting person".
Possible Weapons:
"Tessen" is an iron fan that was used by Samurai to defend themselves from an attack.
The "Jutte" was mainly used by law enforcement officials...but in most cases Samurai WERE the law.
The "Kabutowari"
The "Masamune" measures around 5 - 6 ft. in length.
Spears were common and there are too many different designs that were used for me to post them all.
Samurai Concept:
Male
Female (I apologize for the nudity, but I did not have time to put it through Photoshop, nor did I care. We're all adults here.)
Heavy Armor (Once again, too many designs for me to grab them all, use your imagination.)

I believe the samurai could have skills such as; Karma, Bushido, and something with discipline...
If there's a samurai in D3 he will also be the new ranged class, samurais are masters of both sword and bow.
Imo the samurai doesn't fit in D3, a samurai is a master of the sword(melee) and was expected to be an great archer as well, what i mean is, there is no samurai that isn't a melee specialist, but there was a lot of samurais that didn't know how to use an bow.
My point is, a lot of people will go with the ranged(bow) tree and will ignore the melee(sword) tree, thus, creating a lore/historical paradox.
My personal opinion: I hate samurais. (I'm half asian as well)
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.

True...but you have to admit they would make a good tanking class.
well since i did discuss about there being an asian themed area in d3, samurais wouldnt be too far fetched...but i dont like em, its too copied by other asian mmo games, as with assassins...both should be kicked out.

Sorry for double post.. but wtf do you mean by tanking class?? this is Diablo. everyone can dps for theirselves, no need for roles.
Yeah...dunno wtf I was thinking with the "tanking" thing...:offtopic:Reincarnation would be an interesting skill...the samurai would be able to Transform/Alter himself into another being such as an animal...but I guess a Samurai class wouldn't allow for interchangeable gender....I cannot see a female Samurai.

If Witch Doctor work, I don't see why not Samurai. But gun?!!! Are you crazy? This is Diablo, not Warcraft!!
In fact, I think Samurai fit Diablo more than the Witch Doctor (they seem too wacky). Samurai are more dark and violence (more so than the barb, I think).

Off Topic: How is using magic to raise zombies/undead mongrels and control swarms of flesh devouring insects "wacky"?
I doubt we'll see samurai, it'd just be another melee class stepping on the Barbarians toes.

Erm... since when is Karma a skill?
If they did it right I wouldn't mind seeing samurais or something to that effect. Rather just stick to the more logical classes though.

Yeah we don't need or want "tanking classes"
Besides wtf? Since when are Samurai known for their defense?

Hmm, maybe I just have an odd sense of humour!
I don't see it any wackier than a wall of bones or fire really.
Witch Doctors are known to use the undead especially zombies to do their bidding.
