What do you mean work on it? It's really vague and can't hold it's own ground. You're going to have to clarify your posts with some suggestions like tone down the <noun> or something of that matter. Even if a Blizzard employee looks through your posts and sees someone asking for them to 'work on the design,' 99% they'll be left scratching their heads because they don't understand what it means to 'work on it' because its purely subjective.
Its hard to believe people are complaining about flash from the d3 demo. There is really not alot in the way of flash, the animations and effects are done very well. There is more blood on screen than "flash"....... sometimes I just dont know what people think they are talking about. /sigh
and as far as the 4 player gameplay we saw at the end........ very very easy to see what was going on and no where near over-chaotic......... if you cant tell whats going on in that gameplay you have either never played any of the previous Diablo games or should not play D3, seriously.

Maybe that's because we're not familiar with the spells yet.
I didn't think it looked out of control, pretty basic attacks.
Yeah, I thought the gameplay video looked very boring to be honest. It was waaaay too scripted and just made me not really care for it like I should have been. To be honest, the end was the worst. The combat with the siege beast was so snoozy. The two barbs just ran around for a while as the two WD's casted spells. It was also very scripted. "Lets have one of the barbs die right away and then have one of the WD's die as well - make sure you're in the area at x-time so you can die!"
The pathing made it look like nobody would ever have issue with this boss.
I think Blizz aimed to get new fans for the Diablo franchise and screw over their old ones.
That what they did with Warcraft when they launched WoW!
the Warcraft rts series has had 3 renditions developed for it not including expansions and Wow. You may want to bitch about Wow because its popular and cool to hate it, but there are somwhere in 11 million subscriber range for that game. As much as you may never admit, nearly all of the hardcore warcraft fans play wow or have played wow and enjoyed it. The argument is old and annoying. You guys arent the only blizzard gamers out there no matter how much you want to be the majoirty representation. Stop acting like warcraft fans have been ignored.
For the record I do not play wow, and I happen to be a "hardcore" (I hate the term really) Diablo player who loves the new different artstyle, animations, witchdocter..... and so on.
ps I just chose your post to quote because it was the last one there, so Ill use it as a general example.

I'm pretty sure that they've said the entire dungeon and boss event was scripted for demonstration at WWI.
And, like I said, this was why it was snoozy. Scripted demonstrations are terrible for getting people excited about a game. The cinematic did much more for me, and that's saying a lot.
Usually if you were to announce a game, would you not want to show off some of the game's capabilities? Even if it means rigging a dungeon to show what the game can produce, I think they'd do it.

The issue, for me, with this argument is that Warcraft is not Diablo. I could care less if Warcraft had every single person on the planet playing the game, it's irrelevant to the subject matter of Diablo and how it looks, plays, etc.
When you bring up WoW, the only thing that it should have in relation is that the same art team is working on it. That's it.

No, I wouldn't and most game developers wouldn't either. When they show gameplay footage, it's live and unscripted. That is, unless they are hiding something.
Hellgate had scripted gameplay stuffs and it showed in the final product.
It's infinitely better to go in unscripted to make the game look like somebody is actually playing it and isn't simply talking about it while a video is being played.
And considering my quote was Referencing a warcraft point as to Blizzards suipposed lack for Fan favor, thats why i brought it up.......... read what i quote next time?
edit: its part of being sick of very baseless arguments where we often see warcraft brought into the argument to try and give a lazy attack at blizzard, sorry if it annoys you.

Just like Konami's Rock Revolution at E3 right? Right. Sometimes it's better to go in scripted to show off what the new engine is capable of, what graphical improvements have been made and how the new characters, monsters and bosses look visually and interact. For a gameplay demonstration, I think it was fine.

Your request will be denied. There has never been a class in diablo that did not use magic in some form or another, If a class had no magic abilities whatsoever nobody would play them out of sheer boredom! Who wants to play a class that is as boring to play as it is to watch?

I liked how the video went, I'm glad we didn't see the first half of the first act, it would have taken away some magic, and it showed a lot of sweet things, npc's, destructible environment, Bosses, scripted encounters.
Don't pressume something is better than anything else just because you like it more that way.

"If we're actually making the game worse with no other reason than to be different from WoW, then it's a bad choice." - Jay Wilson (D3 lead designer)
I have to agree with people who are saying it's not too flashy. Like Daemaro, Almost everything he says is about the exact same opinion I have so I can't exactly add much to that, but I will say this again:
If you don't want them, don't invest in any "magical" skills. There.
No, no, go on, you're on the right path...
They could make the hammer fill half of the screen, make monsters explode and blood splashes spoil most of the display, and let a fireball explode like a nuke or supernova. All while letting the screen shake like an earthquake for 10 seconds.
Does this make the game better or the skills more exciting? No.
Which is why they didn't do that. Hypothetical hyperbole isn't the best debate tactic.
Here's my question. What kind of skills would you suggest, sticking to the purely physical? There are only so many ways you can swing an axe. Everyone seems to find the hammer of the ancients to be the worst offender, so would you prefer he do an overhead cleave?

Tell that to Soul Caliber.
In D2 we were limited in what animations could be played, this is a flaw in all 2d games. But as I've said before, it is possible to use full range of body motion in a 3D engine. Instead of a giant hammer, the Barb could have jumped into the air, and with a small magical effect slammed his weapon down onto a group of enemies in front of him.
And if you say that it would get to boring to have less magical attacks, you're basically saying it's boring to use the same attacks over and over again, which is what you would be doing anyways with or without massive magical hammers.
To be perfectly honest, I have never played WoW, but I have played WC3. In WC3, the most flashy spells were noticeable, but you could still see what was going on. Frozen Orb, flashy, noticeable, but you can still see what's going on. If they go flashy, but not so over the top it's ridiculous, I'm fine. As soon as I can't tell what's going on due to blood and fireballs, I'm turning off some graphics options.
