When I look at that pic I was thinking the same thing.
Then I noticed the roof is actually transparent. you can see the stars (or what ever they are)
slightly, It's like he's peering into another dimension. But it's giving you a view of the dimension he is looking into, as well as his dimension, and both of them at the same time. What a mindfuck.
Nooo, don't bring release dates into this. The only thing this could have to do with is the storyline within the game world, not outside of the game world. And don't bring that other image into it too, we've already discussed that, it has nothing to do with No. 53. Its a concept art image of a cinematic, where a meteor comes down from the sky and hits the Tristram Cathedral with Cain and Leah inside. The person looking down into the hole that the meteor made is Leah. Its not another dimension, don't worry.
Look up what Epsilon is used for, look at how many circles there are and what they could be, and why some are joined by a single line and some aren't.
For instance, in astronomy, Epsilon is the name for Uranus' most distant and most visible ring, and is also used to name the fifth brightest (usually) star in a constellation (being the 5th letter of the greek alphabet).
Edit: And notice that most of the cirlces are assigned a latin alphabet letter (ie. a b c d e f g h i j k l...)
I think the image is just there as a way of saying "this is what is to come in Diablo III" (aka a meteor will fall and all that jazz). No. 53 also seems to be representing that way for evil to return, seeing as its part of that "III" image, but it doesn't mean the meteor and No. 53 are directly related. At least not in the way you guys were talking about.
You say you haven't seen that concept art before... well, go have a look at all the concept art on the DIII website and have a look at them all. You can kind of see a sequence of events. And you can easily 'look through a hole a meteor created' by placing the camera at the bottom of the hole and looking up
Then again, I suppose it could be a kind of other dimension in the same way that digging deeper and deeper below the cathedral in Diablo I lead the player right into Hell. But its not another dimension in the sense that someone cast a spell and opened a portal to another dimension.
I guess its just the artist's fault for not making a hole in the roof. Or maybe the artist thought that at that angle you wouldn't be able to see the hole it made?
OK I looked at all of the STUNNING artwork on Blizzard Diablo 3 main page, wow, all I am going to say. I also came across this....
"When Deckard Cain returns to the ruins of Tristram Cathedral seeking clues to defeat new stirrings of evil, a fiery harbinger of doom falls from the heavens, striking the very ground where Diablo once entered the world. This fire from the sky reawakens ancient evils and calls the heroes of Sanctuary to defend the mortal world against the rising powers of the Burning Hells once again.
We all know that the ruins of the cathedral in fact had no roof... wtf.. people are not re-building in ruins. Putting all of this aside, because it does not matter.
I think the reason the Leah image is in Cains journal along with that strange German image, is simply to link the two.
(a meteorite falls from the heavens, possibly someone plotted a course that meteorite took)
The whole reason you are apparently fighting evil again is because of this "harbinger of doom from the heavens" and I was actually shocked, I didn't even realize this strange image with German text is on the main Diablo 3 banner....(just scroll up and look at the main Diablo fans banner it's right there) I'm sure A L0T of people (like Num3n) missed that as well.
So maybe it is just some fancy map of the Diablo world (and outer world) with the course this "meteorite" took to get to the sanctuary. It would kind of make sense to have it in the main title since apparently, a meteorite has A LOT to do with the new game.
Also note the trajectories, look like pentagrams (coincidence, I think not) I am probably wrong here, but maybe not.
That PIC (is in fact in both Cains journal , and In the Main DAIBLO III banner) scroll up to the top of the page and look closely.
Possibly this has something to do with Tyreal I suspect. Maybe since the impact was so small, it was Tyreal himself, and not a meteorite. I think since he is on the main page, he is going to be a big part of D3, I just don't know how yet.
We all know D3 has A LOT to do with this (firey object from the heavens)
Also notice, if you look closely at the Epsilon, I appears to have crater marks in it. Many of them. Almost as if this was not the only attempt made.....
Also note that only one line intersects the epsilon, indicating this could possibly be a trajectory path. Many Greek astronomers have plotted similar looking charts......in fact Greek astronomy ( in early views of our solar system) seem to look very similar to this image. Very similar.... In early Greek astronomy their were also only Five planets.
I think this image is hinting at some huge parts of the storyline, what yet, I do not know, but since my brain hurts, and my eyes are heavy, I'm going to call it a night. (I have been on this forum for 10 straight hours today) I think that's enough for one day!
lol Dub, its kind of funny that you're only just discovering all this now. I mean sure, this Systema der fungften bericht is kind of new, but the rest isn't. The Tryael=meteorite theory has been recited so many times over.
I'd also like to point out that Hellgate: London had a similar thing for their logo too.
Fuck you, I'm a dragon.
hmmmmmm.....

And I beg to differ, to me that concept art screams inter dimensional, maybe it's just my take on it.

Ill go take a look at them all , 4 sure , but like Murderface pointed out, why is their no hole in the roof above the girl>?
To me everything seems transparent... no matter how you look at that image.
And I mean , come on , a meteorite would demolish the whole area, not just create a hole in the floor but somehow not in the roof?
I guess that is what the artist intended, still It just doesn't make sense to me though. But I guess It doesn't have to..Hrmm.,

I noticed something strange a couple mins ago
We now know that "Systema der fungften bericht = System of the fifth message/scrypt/..."
and I just found out the Greek Epsilon is used in astronomy to describe the fifth brightest (usually) star in a constellation.
If you look closely, notice the smaller rings, they almost appear to be miniature solar systems. HMMMMM>
Scratch my last post, that is a lower case epsilon not an Upper case one.
The uppercase epsilon is not commonly used outside of the Greek alphabet because it is commonly mistaken for the Roman letter E.
Also note the Epsilon is the FIFTH letter in the Greek alphabet.
Possibly this has something to do with Tyreal I suspect. Maybe since the impact was so small, it was Tyreal himself, and not a meteorite. I think since he is on the main page, he is going to be a big part of D3, I just don't know how yet.

Some of those letter look russian.

You guys saw the letters near the circles ?
