The new UI is more spread out and not so "bundled" up as the older one. So my vote goes for the newer one. I doubt this will be the last change done to it and it will become even better.
I really love the stained glass effects they added. Nothing's more Gothic-typical than stained glass. Plus, I've always loved stained glass. And, all of the figures, like the demon and angel, are well enough good looking in the aspect I like, and all of it is cast over with effects that aren't cheesy or flamboyant.
MAGISTRATE, I LOVE YOU !!!
Christ, I have been on the side of the stained glass this whole time, and nearly everyone has been all "Fuck you Zhar, stained glass suxx0rs."
Meanwhile, it is one of the most gothic things in the game.
Gotta say, the new UI is much better than the old.

I liked them both, but the fury thing vs the 'mana' orb style, the new one surely wins, and the new one also uses more real estate which is nice cause you have it, so might as well make things 'cleaner'.
I was never too fond of the view of your character in the inventory, just seems better with the silhouette, but then I'm sure it might be 50/50 for that one. I just noticed the tab switch for skills on the right mouse click, which might be pretty cool, if I get used to not using it for maps :P.
hmm the one thing I don't like is the mini menu buttons, they should be a pop-up like in d2, so you can hide them... I mean did any one not use "i" for inventory after a few weeks? or "c" or "a" for the character screen. It's not really crucial, but I really liked that feature of d2's UI.
+1 to the new inventory screen because of the aforementioned 3 bags approach (items separated by category) and the lack of redundancy (seeing two of one's character on the screen at the same time). The old buttons for the various menus (party, character, etc.) seemed a little cramped and a bit too colorful; I prefer the new setup.
I'm really curious how the new barbarian fury system will work. In the gameplay demo it seemed that most of the barbarian's attacks were mana(/stamina?)-using skills as opposed to normal attacks (does anyone ever use normal attacks in diablo? I seriously can't remember). An immediate question which arises is how will he get fury and what types of attacks will it power? I realize he will probably get most of it by hurting things, but with what sorts of skills and at what cost? I wonder whether he will be given unlimited use of such previously-mana-using attack skills and then some really righteous full fury orb skills or whether Blizzard has come up with a completely different mechanic... Alas, I'm probably getting off topic and there are surely other threads which carefully examine the possibilities and speculations. Good Night

Definitely the new one from a visual point of view. Like everybody else says, yay stained glass! The statues holding the life and mana orbs look nice as always.
I totally agree with Magistrate about the stained glass effect. It is totally awesome.
I am personally not a big fan of the previous interface they had shown when they did the intro videos but I do like the one they have now.
EDIT: I hate that shit.
it looks like a updated version of d2 but better
the old one reminds me of wow a bit too much
