Hello everyone, i just watched this interview with Jay Wilson which was released a while back...
The interviewer asks Jay about Diablo's re-appearance in diablo 3 and Jay explained an interesting thing.
Jay said that if they will bring old vilians back to d3, they will have a logical reason for that, and not just some kind of a lame excuse.
He says "we are really interested in exploring the lore, how the universe function, how does hell work, how do the archangels work,
how do the greater demon lords work, you know, there's a function there, um and there's an overal kinda mythology and those kind of things will be a big part of diablo 3".
So, how do they work? im here to ask you people, how do the greater demon lords work and function mythologically or usually in matters like this?
lets say, how do they decide who leads the war on heaven using the world of sanactuary as a battlefield...
I feel that there could be some info written in the books based on the diablo universe. I did not read any of them, unfortunately and shamefully.
But if anyone here did read them, and thinks he has some kind pf a peice of info about this subject, please share it with us.
Still reading the Sin War series. On the last book.
It seems to be that Hell favors civil strife while taking control of mortals on Sanctuary. All the demons, be it lesser or greater, seem to care about is advancing their own station of power within Hell. Sanctuary almost feels like an afterthought to them. It's like, "How can I defeat the Prime Evils? What's this? Sanctuary? Oh yes yes I'll get to that eventually, but now back to the Prime Evils..."
Heaven is much more orderly. There are disagreements among the angels, but they at least have a semblance of order, the Angiris Council. Heaven wants unquestionable obedience from all lesser beings: demons, mortals. They also feel like they must have absolute sway and control in a situation, and that they are the deciding vote in any matter. Tyrael seems to be the only one who doesn't fall into this stereotype. He needs to make friends with Trag'oul.
So I guess you could look at Hell as apathetic power mongering, and Heaven as egotistical control freaks.

not much to say than that lol
but demons that are lesser wanna be diablo and the greater demons want the angels gone
its just that demons pleasures are different than humans
they like to fight and kill and have sex (oki i suppose that ones not different) XD
when demons disagree someones dieing xD
to demons the only power that does matter is that in hell
lesser demons are kinda like slaves to the higher demons since diablo could prob turn them into a sheep or something xD
Also Hell seens to work like a Feudal Monarquy (there are many lords at are absolut in his deomains and they love to fight each other. Through the Prime Evils seens to be the highest lords, the lesser lords are not loyal at all). Heaven looks like a Democracy because they have a institution to debate (the Angiris Council), however they are really authoritarian in some aspects and like sanctus said "egotistical control freaks".
Basically all the demons want control of hell, since it is a much more chaotic place than Heaven.
All the demons share a common enemy though, which is the Heavens. This works to bring them together to work towards eventually eliminating Heaven, and gaining control over Sanctuary.
Italofoca is right about Heaven and Hell, basically one functions like a feudal society, and the other like a democracy, again pointing towards the chaos/order themes.
