Your armor did not look like what it was when it was on.
(ex. Paladin puts on a studded leather armor, looks like he has some kind of metal armor on)
i think that in diablo 3 they should have it that where when you have leather armor on, it should look like leather armor, ring mail looks like ring mail, ect.
with the new engine and designers, dont you feel they could do this?
i kinda understand in diablo 2 with the necromancer and his bone armor. but still.
All chars would look the same when using some low level armor, and would get kind of repetitive in that way, in D2 I was curious to see how the same armor looked on another character, and I hope that is still there in D3.

Okay...
Except I don't actually remember a single piece of armor that gave any memorable look?
They all look the same to me.
In one of D3's video, its already pretty obvious that its not at all like D2, its actually like WoW. Most piece of armor show up on your character, and they should look way more like they should.
That annoyed me quite a lot, personally. Annoys me even more in WoW when blue boots come of as red on my char for some reason.
Your character look should be defined in relation to your stats, complexion, and combination of items used. A wizard would look different from a barb wearing same set, and they'll probably not be able to use the same stuff due to stats limitations.
They'd be perfectly able to do it, I think. It was pretty unreasonable that I put leather armor on my Sorceress and it came out with metal pieces all over the place. Most of the armor looked exactly the same.
well i think they could do this with the new shoulder pads and pants addition to it. and i mean, it doesnt have to look the same on every character. same armor on barb and wizard will not look the same. but still. make it look like or make you think its that kind of armor.
and it would be really cool to have all classes start out with cloth under cloths on. (trying not to be like wow) not saying underwear, but saying like cloth shirt and cloth pants with sandles.
idk. i just think it will give the character a more feeling to it.
I, like amkyle, bartrex and equinox, think that it should be some upgraded version of what we have in D2.
First of all, the problem of two classes looks the same equipament is quite disturbing. Also the, even if they implement a wow-like system, both the wiz and the WD would use the lowest armor type right ? I can't really see a WD using a robe-like armor or a wizard using that tribal looking stuff. And class specific armor is out of question.
Then the only solution would be: every armor piece in the game will have a unic look in every character. Imagine 15 types of armor, multiple it by 5 and you get 75 models ...! And watch closely the D3 model's - they are not just texture in the character model, like in wow were only shoulders, helm, gloves and boots have "mass", all the other gear pieces are just etxtures in your character.
I doubt we will have 75+ monster models, imagine all that work only for your character class !
I believe they will implement a middle ground between those two systems. Re-watching the gameplay footage of the barbarian i saw him equiping all that gear - all pieces of armor and icons in the inventory looked different except the helm and the shoulders. Thats i believe it will be like D2.
I have no problem with them making the armor look different on your character then what it does in your inventory, as long as it looks good. I happened to love how a Skin of the Vipermagi looked on my sorceress. Or how a green Chain Mail looked on my paladin, Or, I believe it was a mage plate, on my druid.
I wish you could get armors in different colors though, I think that would be pretty cool, then even if 2 Wizards/Barbs/WD's/etc had the same armor, they could still look kinda different.

Yeah, different colors would be cool. This was done on Diablo 2, but it was based off of gem colors, and that was kinda odd. If you liked a certain color, but you didn't want that gem in, you were very limited. I think they should let you alter the color of an item at a certain vendor for a gold price. It would be another gold sink to add to the list as well.

There are no stupid questions, just a bunch of inquisitive idiots.
with their engine and designers i think they can probably make the armor in ur inv look like the armor ur wearing. D2 didnt have great graphics but now with D3 i think they should be able too pull it off. Unless they come up with an excuse like: yea too many armors on the floor all looking different than each other will cause lag. or something like that. Not that i dont believe them or anything.

The one who makes it doesn't make it for himself. The one who buys it doesn't buy it for himself. The one who needs it doesn't know it when he needs it.
Just let me assure you that visual armour progression in D3 works the same way it did in D2. To some it may be bad news, to some good news. I personally don't know (or care too much).
I wish that armor would look the same way on the character as it did in the inventory screen. Not everyone would look the same if there was enough diversity of armor out there. Plus, if leggings, shoulder pads, and everything else showed up as it should, than there would be plenty of diversity out there.
I know that D3 isn't doing this, and I know that it will be similar to D2, but it's still annoying.

Did I miss anything? In a video with the Barbarian, you see him equip a few things and you can clearly see that its not working at all like D2.
Wowa, wait a minute, so the armor is going to be the same as in Diablo II? Very little character model variation? I must have missed that. Can someone please source it?
There still aren't any armor restriction planned. Armor is a different issue as it's shown in much the same was as Diablo II, so more types don't actually increase the animation/modeling costs like weapon types would.
No arguing from me, just sourcing what you asked for. I'm sure we will get a more definitive answer in the future for this...but if it what is being implied right now holds up 100% that isn't what I was expecting. Although I suspect there is more variation than what we are assuming from that simple sentence.
Alright, that statement is disappointing. Its too vague, though. I could find a thousand things to deduct from it. In the end, it really doesn't tell us much.
@ Erebus: Erm, I didn't mean to sound oppressive or anything about it- everyone has a right to their own opinion, not that I'm claiming to know what you do or do not believe.
It's just that, along with most other things said, it's too vague. If it's in reference to what Bashiok was mentioning above (animations in relation to weapons), he's talking about how the animations for armor on characters will be mostly the same. That really does not say anything about the looks of the armor, it just tells us that armor will be behaving as should be expected- staying on our characters in correct positions.
That's what I think, anyway.
Even then, though, he left so much unsaid about armor with that meager sentence that he might as well not said anything about it at all.
People. This has been known for a while now. There is even a concept piece showing armour progression for the Barbarian and WD much like the one that existed a long time ago, showing the progression for Barbarian and I believe Paladin back in the D2 days.
In addition to that. Jay Wilson has said that the WoW artists have it easy on themselves because they only need to develop (more or less) several armour models and skins which are then reused on all classes (with slight tweaks). He then said that the same process behind D3 is nowhere near that optimal, because they have to develop a unique armour appearance for five different classes.
And finally, to cast away all doubts, Bashiok has recently stated this:
Armor is a different issue as it's shown in much the same was as Diablo II, so more types don't actually increase the animation/modeling costs like weapon types would.
