So when one character achieves all set items they should transform almost like with the trang ouls set from diablo 2, into something like a ghostly monk, a skelton shamnin, a giant barbarian, or a glowing wizard or somthing else. Or you can just have something very noticeable so you see that the character truly has the full set.
As far as I know, it's not confirmed that set items are going to make it into the game... but if they are... I hope they make this noticeable thing you say, but not too flashy I hope, otherwise would be annoying

I think that Diablo character's shouldn't look with the same glow of tyrael for example. They are humans (ok, Nephalem) and taking THAT particulary vision of the atmosphere means spoiling all the enviroment.
if I'm correct every piece of equipment will have it's own graphics... so changing the sets graphics would be just like having a legendary item... would be good to have some sort of effect...
But sets item ARE "unique", they are not randomly generated. So they could have their own graphic (changing complete the way the character looks...). Even so, you could add some aura effect, but not too much... I really don't like glowing and colourfull things like WOW.
I agree with you in that too much glow is bad for the game aesthetics, but a little bit could be good, not for every set I mean... only if the set justify the glow, like some angels set as I said before, but a set of some hero shouldn't glow... the key here is "not too much"
I think each pieces of set will look special, like a "shiny dark green", and to know if the character have full set you see the full plate "shiny dark green".
I don't think the look of the set will be too exagerate like aura or glow or changing your appearence... maybe few very rare...
I really hope that sets are not in D3. I did not like them in D2. By the time you got the pieces for it you were past the usefulness of the set. The high end character sets required a lot of farming to get all the pieces. |I did not like the effects they added in 1.10 for a complete set. I would not mind if the armor or the item slots showing on the character changed but I do not want too much eye candy since it is a distraction from the game play.
I would rather see a unique (legendary) item get some extra bonus from other legendary items. Better yet a quest that allows you to make your own set out of items. For a fee of gold or some other resources. The set would be named after you and will be unique.

I like set items, but only small sets (2~4 items). More then that makes choosing gear a little boring (if sets are good).
And i don't know about all this eye candy. You know, legendary will problably have nice looks, if you add stuff like giant forms and aura your character will look like a mess of different kind of shines.
But i like your idea if it works like a skill. For exemple, your giant barbarian suggestion. Instead of the set trasnform you in a giant, the full set bonus have a chance to turn you in one for a few seconds.
I think set items should give you a bonus skill. It would make it more unique than just appearance. The skill would be as good as the set. So you have a vary high end set you get a skill that will help you kill the hardest minions of hell. Of course there should be some type of cool down on the bonus skill so it cannot be repeadedly used. I was thinking more along the lines of like a huge skill that devistates everything around you. Something along those lines.

I would prefer that items do not have powerful skills or other players skills. Then everyone wants it and anything else is garbage. Case in point "Enigma".

I think Blizzard will take care of that, with better bonus or drop more often or less pieces in a set ? idk
Prepare to be very very very, very very disappointed.
? Why ?
The color are clear but the style and the atmosphere are dark !!! No color are too light or glow !
