Let's just outlaw online games because its going to lead to people getting killed irl. While we're at it, lets outlaw that damn rap music too...
I'm forced to deal with morons in a civil manner all day in real life. Is it that awful that I find pk'ing people and listening to them cry an enjoyable way to unwind after a long day? Yeah your right, I don't go around being a dick to everyone in real life becuase I'd end up in a lot of trouble...but like you said its a game. Wheres the harm in being a bad guy in a game? The name of the game is Diablo...if I wanted to hold everyones hand I'd go play Squishy Fluffy Land.
If I'm not cheating with third party programs or intentionally exploiting known glitches to my advantage, then whatever I'm doing is completely fair. I join your game, I hostile you, I find you, I fight you...wheres the unfairness? If it leads to extreme amounts of e-rage that someone bests you in a game on occasion, then thats the perfect time to take a break and eat some ice cream or something.
Hahaha yeah, we've all been there. I just hope blizzard makes some kind of PVP tweak that makes players unable to kill naked people, or however the new PVP system is.
I think they are going to make a specific way to create a game for pvp.
Meaning if me and you were mfing pve and some f*** face came in they could not hostile us because its a pve game.
but thats just my thought process.
Agreed, again, but I loved when people did this to my windy druid they would hostile find me die come back die again then rage when they started it so everyone who does this loves to "try" and dish it out, but when it backfires they cant take it.
You pretty much sum it up right here. I used to hate getting pk'd, but then I took the time to learn the game and became a decent player, and guess what, more often then not a PK'er joined my game they got denied. Its fun both ways unless you lose every time...but then again it is an rpg, people that took the time to grind/trade for awesome gear and took the time to learn the best tactics in various situations should have a combat advantage.
I"m a absolutly freaking fun of games with PK and i never ever play as one.
I just love the tension of play my normal PvM routine knowing that any momment this rotine cna be broken by a murderer and i will have to defend myself. The sensation of beign hunted is just great.
But i'm afraid Diablo have a format that don't allow the whole PK fight be a fair one. In every game were plays may choose to become a PK the other side of the commmunity may choose to become a APK (Anti-PK). The fight between those two sides are unbelievable nice to have in a game.
But due the format of Diablo multplayer (room based game, not a open world MMO) it's impossible to a APK community organize. The PKs allways have the advantage of the first strike. But after due their dirty job the APK peple can never haunt him down because he can just leave the game and become untrackable.
In the end PKs in diablo are nothing but a warm to the MP experience because they can allways pick weaker enemies, kill then and leave the game before anyone stronger can make vengeance. And thats just BS.
Please kind sir, don't stoop to childish personal insults. Thanks:)
Oh, I'll throw every single one I have at you if I need to. I don't care what is considered childish personal insults, you can just die, men. I fucking swear. I don't care if I get banned for it, same as for that other guy I did get banned for. I just like it, and I don't care whatever answers you can come up with.
I join your game, I hostile you, I find you, I fight you...wheres the unfairness?
You don't know where is the unfairness !! damn it it's too easy to see !! The guys you've fighted aren't consenting.
I'm agree with SFJake people who make problem to others like you have a problem.
And like Italofoca said, Diablo is not a game for PK !! enjoy fights in an area of PvP with people who are agree to fight !!! Ohhh no you don't like that because you're beaten... ohhhh cry for it you can't fight with a lower level !!!
We have no idea how PvP will work and how often stuff will drop...
But you have a good point. "How it's going to be possible to live as a pure PvP players if I can't trade ?". This is a question for then to answer.
Maybe you can't, anyways you have to level up characters. If one don't like it they perhaps have to stay in D2.
As for myself, I believe that BoE items on higher end characters are designed for several reasons:
1) To add longer gameplay. In many games (specific to the RPG category), multitudes of devices are designed to increase time spent playing the game. Take, for example, older Final Fantasy games (of which I can comfortably speak about as I'm not too knowledgeable of the newer ones, and I <3 the old-schoolers). Be it a higher percentage of random encounters, multiple side quests, pre-set bosses that forced leveling, and (later on) CG storytelling movies, they were all devices to increase gametime (which is why some games can boast 70+ hours of game time).
2) To enhance the rarity of the item. Lets say I'm running around on my Monk with Natalya's Mark II (see what I did thar?)... there is a presence demanded by that. I either worked hard to earn it, or worked hard to trade items for it. It preserves the rarity of the item, keeping it "rare" for much longer (by limiting the supply even more). It seems to be an interestingly aggressive move to try and keep the market stimulated.
3) <flameshield activated>To require PvPers to play the game as it was meant to. Yes, that's a bold statement from me, but think about it. The Dev team has already stated that, first and foremost, this game is a co-operative game. I assume that they will have something for the PvPers, but they aren't going to revolve this game around PvP (and in this author's honest opinion, rightfully so). In order to get the best, you have to work for it.

I couldn't agree more. I usually am on the APK side in D2 but ... heck the pathetic PKers always leave the game when they know they'll get beaten to death. Makes it that much more frustrating!

Every online game nowdays are builded in a way where PvP players don`t need to envolve in PvM. If D3 don`t support this those people will just go back to the good PvP games (GW, WoW, WAR, etc...) and leave D3 behind.
and i just can`t imagine a game like D3 w/o a strong PvP community. Blizz will not take 7-8 years to make a game where people will explore it`s full content in 6 mouths like a ordinary PvM rpg.
Jay Wilson said that PvM is the biggest importance for Diablo. he said that co-op play is the most important thing and that PvP will be looked and and changed but will not be the priority of the game. I think forcing the players to get more gear and play PvM is something they have no problem with.

You're right! There's no way a game can survive only on PVM, beating the crap out of other players is the ultimate goal in a game like D3!

Sure it can! Fallout 3, Oblivion, and the original Final Fantasy XI are great examples of games that don't (or didn't) support PvP. In addition, games that focused on PvP on equal or greater terms aren't as popular (or last as long) with the general populace (DAoC, GW, Warhammer, ect. ect.)

There will be PvP in some form but it will most definitely not be the focus of Diablo, at least not at launch. Who can say what will happen in 5-10 years.

The problem here is that D3 is a Hack'n slash...if you want people to keep on playing it, you need more and than adventure, you need competition.

Those games are not made to be played online. They are popular because lots of people finished it, not because people are playing it right now.
D3 is a totally different case. It's being made to be played online. It's a game based at trading, collecting items, evolving. How this can be possible if the only challenge are killing AI if this AI are not update fast like in WoW ?

and to everybody that is against BoE because it will (supposedly) ruin PvP: blizzard representatives have already stated that PvM (in particular, co-op PvM) will be the main focus of D3. you can either accept that, or you can continue to bitch about it.
I'll bitch about it
I would like to read a official quote too because if my mind serves me right they said coop was "at the momment" the best part of the game and they didin't even started to make PvP. I'm no professional but i allways though that PvP was the last thing to be planned in a online game so what focus PvP will have or not noone knows execly.
Sigh.
I wish people like you could just become extinct.
