lol i have nothing to add people are totally nailing the faults of D2...seriously TQ is so hugely underrated...that game got rid of most of the flaws of D2...about the only thing any post-LoD game couldn't match was the music and atmosphere...sure that means something but the gameplay > music/art
-pot spamming
-boss runs
-everyone has mana
-horrible class balance
-skill trees
-attribute point distribution
-bolts n arrows
-etheral items
-gambler
-gold being useless
-the dark graphics and art style
-runs/rushes - getting to 80 in an hour and experiencing a fraction of the games areas was the norm. im sure something similar will start, but not to that insane extreme
-chat being huge on the top left of screen and spam bots basically making public games unplayable
-having to make a game and trust someone not to steal your shit just to transfer
-farming limited to a couple bosses and small area's
-stamina mechanic
-public group loot
-scrolls of town portal/identify
-runewords
-pking
-small inventory
-iron maiden insta killing any melee class

Having to watch a health globe instead of the game because there's no mitigation just insane spike damage.
No CD on health pots/rejuvs
Stamina
Picking up gold
Holding down -alt
Needing a PHD in mathematics to find optimal min/maxing gear setups (obviously exaggerating, but I hate how hidden all those mechanics actually were; breakpoints, ilvl crafting, diminishing returns- really hope most of that crap is gone).
No shared stash.
and quivers
Based from what you said , most of you have no idea or just didnt play diablo 2 past normal difficulty.
Etheral items - best items for merc weapons , bugging armors , botd? I enjoyed collecting them.
Rune words - my passion in this game was rune finding, crafting and mf (rare items).
Builds stats/skills - you have an option to reset your char skills / stats , you dont have to level up a new char again.
Antidote / thawing potions - u kidding me ? they were always on my belt , always . poison in hell and frozen status are crazy...

As for most of the others , I 100% agree.
Ethereal: Didn't bug me. Sometimes they were cool, sometimes they weren't, just like everything else.
Rune Words: I don't think the minor runewords bugged people. If you claim to know someone who made a legit BotD (no duped runes anywhere along the way), I don't believe it.
Builds stats/skills: They added the option to respec in patch 1.13 which was 10 years after release...
Antidote/thawing potions: I used them because they made the game easier, but I don't feel like they made the game more fun. If they didn't exist, poison and freeze would have just been balanced differently. Once I had ridiculous endgame gear, I didn't even use them at all because they were more hassle than they were worth.

have u only played D2 for the past year? for TEN YEARS you couldnt respec your character bud. you HAD to reroll a new character in order to change even 1 minor thing in your skill tree/attributes.
also when people say etheral items they dont mean for your merc.
and runewords are widley known as a huge destroyer of D2 gameplay. some people like them, most people hate them.

I completely forgot about keys.... and that was my single greatest peeve.
It always REALLY bothered me that you could use magic, wield giant weapons, and destroy hell demons but you were powerless to open a chest that was locked without a key.
Ugh...

Not the runewords destroyed the game , but the ppl using bots / shops and duplication methods.
And no , I didnt play only at 1.13 ... I also remember re-leveling a char because I misclicked some stats/skills or trying new builds ...
But overall , I enjoyed the uber runs , stat reset option and of course a slight boost at rune finding chance.
I just really hope diablo 3 wont have too many cheaters/exploiters/hacks or however you want to call it.
