enigma. being in australia means that i can never cast tele as fast as my fcr lets me because i will end up teleing to the same. spot. like 3 times before moving anywhere. So it's useless for me. Also, buying items. im pissed off that the RMAH even exists, i think its BS that people can just buy items for a dollar it takes ALL the fun out of end game, cause you know there will be people walking around in full sets because mummy gave them 20 bucks. pisses me off thinking about it. I would be happy if Blizz put a big sign on the bottom of the item in inspect saying BOUGHT OFF RMAH or something. so you know who actually plays the game properly
I personally could care less about what other people do regarding the game. I know that I will have earned the gear that I have, and I don't need someone else's confirmation to feel accomplished.

My place really was here. I was too foolish and stubborn to notice. But, what I truly hoped for then was here. Why do I always realize it When I've already lost it.
I like (or rather also agree with) a lot of what I'm seeing here...
Not Missin':
Bolts & Arrows...
Act 2 Beetles... well really all of the Maggot Lair
Act 3 almost in its entirety... except Mephisto - I love that guy - we're homies...
Tetris Inventory...
Abyss Knight packs that could "see" you long before you could see them...
Blood Raven... chasing and chasing and chasing...
THOSE M***ERF****NG GHOSTIES (of any variation) that blasted you with lightning... do not Rest in Peace - You will not be missed.
**Edit**
Will not miss crappy internet that was available in the early days

yeah i definitely see that point of view as well, i'm only venting, it's not going to ruin the whole game for me or anything, i just always liked that part about WoW, and many other games too, that if you get an item, generally it means you earned it. i mean ninja looting, and paying guilds to run you things did exist yeah, but the majority didn't do that. Like i said i would be happy if it was mentioned on the item somewhere, that it was bought with RL money. You can't deny that part of the reason you play online with other people is so you can compare and show off your character, if you only wanted a 60 char with good gear, and didn't care about bragging rights at all, chances are you will be playing single player mode.

How are people not understanding this.
In order for someone to buy something, that item has to be put on the AH
in order for that item to be put on the AH, another person must put it there
in order for that person to put it there, he must first find the item
people will not be putting the very best items on the AH all the time, hell even a little bit of the time. Almost all of us will USE the item. I want to you think back to just how rare the BEST items were in D2, before dupes. Because this is how D3 will be, the rarest items actually being RARE. A person has to be lucky enough to even find said item, then want to actually sell it.
And here's the biggest point. For someone to buy an item, someone else must lose the item. What the eff do you care if someone bought it, since the power is just trading hands, and someone else doesn't have it. At the end of the day if you run into me with some awesome item, I either bought it or found it, but there's still only ONE item, it doesn't get copied. And guess what? If the RMAH that you so hate didn't exist, I would trade with other items, or gold, or, *GASP*, I'd buy with real money from the person directly!
It doesn't matter at ALL how the person got the item. And if it does to you, then your ego and pride needs to get put into check. That's what it really is all about, people get butthurt because someone has something they want. Ripping on the RMAH is easy, but you'd find another way if there wasn't one, like 'omg I can't he traded gold for that, there should be a sign on the bottom saying BOUGHT WITH GOLD'. srsly.
TLDR; (in childish voice) Na na Na na Boo Boo, stick your head in doo doo. (the RMAH is IN !)
I know one thing I currently don't miss is ETHEREAL ITEMS!
Sure the concept of having a weapon that did a lot more dmg but can't be repaired was kinda cool but the only problem was nobody would use it..
It would seem that you never geared your henchmen properly (they don't use durability) nor did you ever use any great runewords like breath of the dying. How about eth Titan's Revenge(replenishing quantity)?
Point is, I loved finding great ethereal items.
On to the question...
I absolutely will not miss the looting style. Specifically, constantly holding a key to see what's on the floor and needing to compete to actually click/grab the loot. No fun at all
Transferring is another big one, Choices of either bothering a friend or waiting by yourself in a game waiting to perm it and then hope it doesn't crash or you disconnect or get a random temp ban out of nowhere (happened all the time)
I personally could care less about what other people do regarding the game. I know that I will have earned the gear that I have, and I don't need someone else's confirmation to feel accomplished.

I'm glad that we both see each other's opinion in a fair light. I do agree with you to some point. My friend used to play an MMO called Dark Age of Camelot in which there was no such thing as BoP or BoE and anyone with enough money could buy the best gear. I didn't know how he could play a game like that, but to each his own.

White knight mode activated much? its my personal feelings and nothing you said changes my mind, if you think its an ego problem, then maybe it is, i dont really care lol. The way i see it, if you buy an item off the RMAH, you didnt earn it. you could make the argument that the money they spent, they probably earned, and by extension they earned the item, but its too disconnected IMO, whats in the game is in the game, bringing real money into it gives people advantages that they normally wouldnt have. Ding you hit 60, you pay 30 bucks, have full gear. that is just shit IMO lol.
I frequent this site a lot, i have read pretty much every blue post worth linking since D3 was announced, i have an (i would say) intimate understanding of the philosophies behind D3's development. I get that if the RMAH didnt exist, third party sites would crop up just like D2jsp and it would happen like in D2, which i don't want. i do understand that its pretty much required that Blizz added the RMAH to counter this. What i am saying is that IN. MY. OPINION. the people who are going to use the RMAH (buying or selling, but im talking about buying atm) aren't earning those items. The same way it was shit that people bought off D2jsp, its shit that they are going to buy off this. Its a pointless argument in that nothing can stop the greed and impatience of people, they will find a way to cheat items. I am all for trading items for other items, or gold, because its artbitrary, you can go farm items and gold. not everyone has RL money to spend on digital items.

not much that hasn't been listed above. Seeing as how ALL of this stuff is not going to be in D3 it should be an amazing game! at least until 2053 when D4 comes out.
D2 Skill Tree, where you pretty much poured all your skill points into one or two skills and used it thousand of times over. In d3 you'll at least have 6 abilities to play around with, and there's a lot more versability.
this. seriously hated how your skills basically sucked at low levels except for some classes. sorc suffered from this the worst imo...
Runewords which were impossible to get without duping.
Tiny inventory space filled with charms.
Losing items transferred in "drop" games since there was no shared stash.
Ninja-looting.
Needing multiple accounts for item storage.
Having to find trade games.
Trading for SOJ's and gems since gold was worthless.
Duped items which disappeared without warning.
Endless boss runs.
Having to level a new character for every new build idea.
Very few proficient builds - and just about two dozen viable builds...
Stat points - STR for gear, dex for block, rest vit
Open World PvP
Mundane leveling process - 8 player Tristram Runs -> 8 player tomb runs -> 8 player baal runs -> 8 player nightmare baal runs -> 8 player Hell CS runs until ~80 then Hell Baal runs x15000
The Maggot Lair
All of Act III
All players learn the same spells via books (D1)
Godly Plate of The Whale (Was a hacked item in D1 - The game can't spawn it in a legit manner)
Wisps
Bone Fetishes
Fire Enchanted sometimes one-shotting you upon death explosion
Horadric Cube recipes
Double/Triple Immunities
The resolution
Shrines that don't tell you what they do (Talking about D1)
+1-3 Skill items instead of +5-20% Damage/Radius/Etc (So glad they changed this)
Rune-words giving every class skills that aren't from their class
Everybody using Mana
Open B.net
Potion Spamming
Bots (Both chat and running bots)
Ith Bugs and similar bugs
Rushing
Bolts and Arrows
Ethereal Throwing Weapons (Sad that we don't have throwing weapons though :()
Synergy with skills (I don't mean how well they work together...I mean boosting the damage of other spells!)
Lightning Beetles in A2
Lagging into Duriel's room -> Death (Remedied a little while after D2 came out due to technological advancement)
Gold was worthless
Stamina sucked ass at lower levels
As a Barb the game was honestly auto attack fever until you had enough mana leech + damage to stay capped
Iron Maiden as a Barb/Pally in Hardcore
Minions of Destruction sometimes kept knocking you back and you couldn't hit them
You eventually out-leveled the monsters in A5 Hell
Cow portal couldn't be opened after your King was slain while you were in the game
I absolutely agree with this one. I know they fixed or patched it to be weaker or something, but it took years for them to do it, and barb has been nerfed into the ground since then.
I once liked playing my barb in Diablo 2. Then i made it to the chaos sanctuary... and could never beat it solo.

And like what BleuSnaks42 said, you won't see people running around in amazing godly gear that they bought cheap with their pocket money. Rare items are going to be ultra rare.
