So I've been beating myself up trying to figure out which class to play first on release, and I thought it would be interesting to see everyone's opinion on their reasons to play every class. Don't include your critcisms of the class--just the single thing that entices you the most. Here's my list:
Barbarian - Extra item drops. With Hammer of the Ancients (Birthright) and Threatening Shout (Grim Harvest) barbs have arguably the highest potential for MF.
Demon Hunter - The split resource system. I can't explain why, but I feel like with split resources there will be more diversity and decision making in combat, and thus a higher skill cap.
Monk - Mantras. Everyone loves the guy that buffs the whole team.
Witch Doctor - Survivability. Seriously, with enough monsters tanking it seems like witch doctors will be extremely hard to kill. I'll probably play WD for hardcore.
Wizard - AOE options. I LOOOOOOVE using characters with lots of AoE, and Wizard has the most options.
What's your list? Hopefully after reading enough of these I can actually figure out what class to play XD
Barb
Leap attaclk and other badass moves, and you don't have to run away from mobs.
Monk
Martial arts kind of play, which is cool.
Demon Hunter
The real glass cannon of D3. HIts for massive amounts of dmg and relies on kiting.
WD
An army of minions at your command.
Wizard
Awesome skills like warp time.
Her voice and appearance is sexy, like a dominatrix. She also does the voice acting in azula in the avatar cartoon.

One is never hurt by being given additional choices, only by taking them away. A QUADRILLION MAGIC FIND is worthless if you can't kill shit!
Barb - Dread Bomb ( a true fury dump that looks to scale incredibly)
Wizard - Incredibly versatile toolkit.
WD - You can throw plagues at people as a default attack.
Monk - To feel like Bruce Lee in the cellar scene of Enter the Dragon
DH - Hang back behind the barb and do WTFBBQ damage without having to work very hard.

I grew up gaming without internet forums. The entire phenomenon of being upset with a game developer makes no sense to me. No sense. I cannot imagine spending my time and energy being upset about something I choose to do for recreation.
DH - I love the mobility, and for some reason I just love the flavor of the class. I enjoy shooting enemies from a distance, and throwing knives is just badass. I cant wait to check out the other skills...
Wizard - All of the skills seem really flashy and cool, I wish I had gotten a chance to try her out in the open beta!
WD - This class seems like a lot of fun to me, I like the long range skills. Might play around with it
Monk - This was the other class I thought about maining an dafter taking it up to level 8 I was not too impressed, I think the play style just did not fit me. I like the teleport ability tho
Barbarian - aside from the moon physics I honestly have no ambition to play this class
I look forward to playing multiplayer so that I can enjoy the classes together without playing them all myself
For those of you not sure which class to play, you could let the game decide for you! (every time you enter the Char select when making a new character, it randomly selects a class/sex)
For me:
Barb: none, really
DH: I like grenades, bombs and explosives. A lot.
Monk: Best resource mechanic in the game IMHO
Doc: I love mid range casters, and his spells have this feel, lot of skill diversity (not just oh another ability that does X) and mass confusion. Also, pets are fun from time to time. (favorite class; hope not OP at launch)
Wiz: story elements I guess?

If that made sense to you, Bravo! I think I even confused myself...
Barb - Badass melee asskicking
Demon Hunter - Archers are awesome
Monk - Seems like a really good multiplayer character
Wizard - Love mages, always play them (will be my first class)
Oh right, there's a 5th class huh? Honestly can't think of why I want to play a WD other than achievements.
Barbarian: I like the visceral feel of the melee combat.
Demon Hunter: There is no reason to play the demon hunter.
Monk: High mobility and the male has the best voice work in the game.
Witch Doctor: Dark magic is very appealing. I will play this guy with no summons.
Wizard: It's a freaking wizard.
Barbarian: I like melee characters, Barbarian is probably closest to the standard warrior. Also huge 2H weapons ftw.
Witch Doctor: very interesting skills all over the place. I'm actually not a big fan of summons but I love everything else. The kind of utility magic that allows for some very planned encounters.
Demon Hunter: I always liked ranged chars, Rogue was my favorite in Diablo I. DH also seems to have some potential for a trap build, which is interesting.
Monk: another melee character. Particularly, I really like the design, his stance, daibos. The combo system is cool and this is one of the trickiest classes to build, IMO.
Wizard: class feels very powerful. Coupled with the male wizard's attitude it's freaking hilarious. The best class for pew-pew.
For those of you not sure which class to play, you could let the game decide for you! (every time you enter the Char select when making a new character, it randomly selects a class/sex)
lol, that's cool, I may just do this instead. Sometimes I'm like "Monk!" "WD!" and then I'm like "and DH is kinda cool" and I just don't know hahahah.
I'll play and max every class in SC (and eventually HC), 1st because I want to be able to play any of the classes I feel like. 2nd because whatever gear I farm will be useful on SOMEBODY, meaning I can throw it on one class, see if it's an upgrade and then keep it. If it's not I'll either put in my 1 tab dedicated to low level legendaries, or RMAH dat bitch.
#1 Reason: Because I paid for this game, therefore I am entitled to play it to its full potential and features.
The only way I can do that is to try out all the classes and its respective male/female gender. I have tried each class during open beta, and each class/gender feels, looks, and sounds different. Skills, voices, armors, animations, maps/monster encounters, loots, etc etc is unique per playthrough.
Barb - Melee rape, satisfying to leap in to a group of mobs and cleave away.
Monk - Not particularly excited about this class.
WD - Minions, Minions everywhere.
DH - dual resource system looks a lot of fun and looks like it provides good utility between damage and defence.
Wizard - Looking forward to this one the most, big aoe nukes, slows snares and just general destruction
Demon hunter
From what I can say from the beta WE, I have yet to find a mob that managed to hit me - except the SK. and I love to stay at range, seeing the enemies crawl slowly towards me but die previously.
Witch doctor
locust swarm. although I just know that skill from videos.
wizard:
the last class I'm gonna play. If I'm gonna play one at all. will see.
my order in which I'm gonna play chars is:
DH > monk > barb > WD > Wizard.
DH - I don't think it requires kitting. She will switch positions (in a triangular shape) but she does not need to kite. Ability to run fast and far is even better than wizards. The later skills which shots grenades and rockets are more than cool and she is sexy too.
Wizard - super sexy mistress I think she will have to use to many defensive abilities later on IMO but it is not necessarily true. My second favorite after DH.
Monk - requires skill and she's melee. Looks nice and was fun to play. Not as much as range classes which I prefer though.
WD - fun like hell but minions are not blocking monsters way at all. They are like thin air to them. Only dogs blocks a wait slightly and tank, everything else will just rush at you as they can't fight spiders Like I've said quite fun but it is not my style of fighting.
Barb - close contact guy. Great fun if somebody like this style. Maybe at some point if I get bored of cleverness of other classes and thinking I will switch to barb and twink it with what other chars drops

WD- awesome voodoo spells and dark magic, looks really interesting and fun
monk- kinda cool martial arts character, dont like him too much though
DH- havent studied her too deeply yet
wizard- cool spells and a lot of aoe, teleport

As well, but for fun:
Barb - Badass melee asskicking
Demon Hunter - Archers are awesome

ok, per class
Barbarian: feeling
Witch Doctor: skills (1st)
Demon Hunter: traps
Wizard: personality
Monk: rythm

No reason NOT to play each class/gender.

HULK SMASH! ENEMY EXPLODE!
Monk
ROUNDHOUSEKICK. nuff said.
Demon hunter

It looks really great in higher levels tho, but I think it'll be the last character I level up.
Monk: I just love it.
