I get more than half my gold from selling blues/yellows to the vendor, so from my side it wouldn't make a huge difference, it would just be a nuisance. I'd end up only clicking on piles that contained more than 600 gold, give or take. With my barb I once got sick of dancing about and piled on 37 total gold pickup radius. It was glorious; pretty much any gold or health globe on the entire screen would be instantly gobbled up.
At least you don't have to keep your gold in piles of 5000 in your inventory like in Diablo 1, eh?
bots would still auto pick gold regardless. so i don't think there would be any noticeable change in the economy. it would just make it more frustrating for actual players..

As far as the economy goes, I would suffer. I'm not a huge AH seller other than salvaged materials.
