What is up with the Daibo still not being used in attack animations. I had completely forgotten that this was an issue until i played my monk today. I'm actually saddened that they're not used. I love the look of the Daibo and it just goes to my back automatically for no reason. Does anybody know If they're eventually going to add the attack animations with the Daibo, or if this is how it's intended?

This is actually pretty interesting, I don't have an answer for you unfortunately. It has been quite a while since they actually spoke about weapons not being shown in monk attack animations. You're right too, Diabos look insane, I'm a bit disappointed that at the moment they seem more of a cosmetic thing than an actual weapon.

Shields create the same issue, not that anybody in SC uses them.
I've heard no mention of this yet by Blizz. I assume they may revisit the animation way down the road via x-pac.
My biggest issue with Daibo's is that they aren't viable (I know people are sick of that word). They're too slow and 2-handers across all classes are almost exclusively unused by the players.
With all the chatter from Blizz about the coming itemization patch, has anyone heard mention of their plan for 2-handers?
Back to the animation issue; Kinda makes you wonder what Blizz was thinking in the first place, don't it?

I wouldn't say Daibo's aren't that viable. They certainly are. But you need to build around the Daibo, instead of the daibo building around your skills.
I too believe it will come with the Xpac, hopefully. I mean It just boggles my mind that they released this game without finishing the animations for Daibos and apparently shields too? Haven't noticed shields but certainly noticed the Daibo magically teleport to my back!

I'm curious to see what Daibo you use?
I've always wanted to use one, but I cannot see how they would work, outside of a TR build perhaps.
I wished diabos would have some other mechanic... right now they are just a faster twohander with 1.1 aps. Would be nice if they had block or garanteed to roll one of 3 affixes (spirit regen, life per spirit spent or a skillbonus). Would also be cool if daibo's could block.
Blocking makes sense with 2-handers IMO. It's an idea I brought up many months ago, but the idea never seemed to get much backing by the community.
Other potentials with the Daibo would be perhaps a Sweeping Winds inherent bonus. Since SW is to a Monk what the Aura was to the Pally (mandatory).... this class specific weapon needs a class specific inherent quality.
Flying dragon is a actually pretty insane, but I defiantly wish they had animations.
@ruksak, if you have a monk you should try it out I'm able to farm MP10 keys with flying dragon pretty easily. But as already stated its got to be a build that's meant for two handers. FoT quickening, WoL (I use the 40 spirit one), mantra and then whatever you like. Timing a 30% dmg blind with the proc from flying dragon and dropping 6 bells in 3 seconds (thanks to exalted soul) is insane damage. I recommend a flying dragon with at least life steal on it, but it can also come with crit dmg and socket.

This needs to be addressed.... I have always thought that 2 handers should offer blocking potential... it would fix help offset them being so slow!!
This is a very old complaint of mine, but Blizzard basically said "Yeah.....we're not gonna do it".
^ this
I understand why they went with that, though (not that I like it).
It would take away the martial arts "feeling" of certain skills, and their name wouldn't really fit (how would Exploding "Palm" work? or Way of the Hundred "Fists"? or "Fists" of Thunder?) - which is why I think they have attack animations for Deadly Reach but not those.
Well that fucking sucks. This is literally the dumbest shit ever. And FoT can use a daibo, just attack with one side of the daibo, then the other, then both sort of like a cross check. I mean I don't think it would be that hard to do, would it. Sure it'd be difficult to do but I feel like they should've been working on this from release and before right up until it's patched in.

Probably intended since everyone uses Skorns anyways
