When the game was released Lifesteal percentage in normal difficulty was unaltered.
then as the difficulty rose to nightmare hell and inferno...im trying to remember....inferno i believe only gave 20% of your listed lifesteal percent as returned life.
but then they apparently weakened it again....to ...maybe 10% of the listed percent?
does anyone know the story? im in a spot where i cant go to random gaming sites....:( cant go to official forums or anything like that
LS still works in live at 60. When RoS comes out and you level, LS will suck, so look to pick up LOH, LAK, LPS, etc.
For LS to work, you need in excess of 50k sheet DPS. Not sure what you DPS is or how long you've been away from the game. But don't get used to it, it's going away in a few weeks.
On level 70, i.e., RoS, life steal will return 0% damage to life - which means it's gone.
Life steal in 2.0.1 is still a pretty viable way to survive. Rather than boosting damage to compensate for the smaller return, I'd recommend to up mitigation (armor and allres) - it'll make the transition to level 70 much smoother. If you keep a glass canon style (500k DPS and 500k EHP) you'll not only hit a brick wall at level 70, but you'll even get into trouble when leveling up (the later act 5 parts really require more EHP if you want to level your char on Master or higher in RoS).

100% Normal, 70% Nightmare, 40% Hell, 20% Inferno.
