First, let me say I really like the new crafting system. It really makes sense to make stuff using a common item with a legendary component (which I believe are getting a drop buff). However, having to also use 2 forgotten souls EACH time is just too expensive. Especially when you consider you will most likely need to craft an item multiple times or use more souls to reroll stats. I think the effort to farm the unique legendary component (plus the white quality component) is enough for crafting purposes. Needing souls is just such a huge barrier to crafting where the results are likely to be mixed. Anyone agree or think the cost is justified? Maybe only use souls for set items? Other ideas?
Dude, wait til you get the recipes that require Flawless Royals. Souls aren't even the beginning of the pain lol, I think they're in a perfect spot as they are. For the iffy luck you have anyway, you should be thanking the system for not allowing you to blow all your money and mats making legs as bad as the ones that contributed souls. Just run rifts, almost a guaranteed soul every 10-15 minutes if not more
I farm souls easy enough just doing rifts. Seems about half the tiem the guardian drops one and then there are the junk legendary items that drop that get junked. Granted it's not a very 'casual friendly' or low play time player friendly, however it seems to work. You just need to put in a little more effort to get that bigger upgrade over the rares that drop like candy or atleast the bigger potential upgrade.
I agreed with badglad completely. Crafted 2 set items yesterday, needed 1 flawless royal diamond and 1 royal flawless emerald, that was a real pain in the ass. Ouch. I think the gems need to recalculate abit, it costing too much.
I guess I've just been unlucky in rifts but that seems the best way to acquire souls. As for gem crafting, that's justified to me because you're only using lower crafted gems and Deaths Breath. The only outrageous part is the gold requirement - like millions of gold per gem. But again, that's easy enough to build up over time in rifts. Maybe it all just seems expensive at the moment since there hasn't been much time to build up a good supply. Well, back to rifting then!
I felt like this at first, but then I hit my "gear-wall" and since them the souls have just been stacking up.. I'm at 120 atm and I just roll random shit for lulz quite a lot now, you will be surprised how many of them u get once u stop using them so often.
As Shapookya said, you get one of the Forgotten Souls back, so it's only fair. Otherwise I could craft 20 Penders Purchase "for free" which definitely wouldn't be right.
@djdeacon: Why 18million? A Flawless Royal costs 9.8m, or am I missing something? Still a tad too much in my opinion though.

Sounds about right, I calculated that a few days ago. I think the major problem is the transformation from marquise to imperial. If you really take 81 marquise and no imperials, the cost to make those 27 imperials is 5.4 million gold, more than half of the total cost for the flawless royal.
So if imperials would drop at a sufficient rate (as in "enough" like flawless squares in vanilla), the high end gems would be much cheaper. Maybe even reasonable. So far I have only burned gold in RoS. Don't know, how much farming a flawless royal at a cost of 4.4m would take.
