Ok, so we all know about the Barbarians and there charge to defend Mt Arreat, as well as the Worldstone. Cool. But why do you never see any Druidic areas in D2? Or any mention of there relation to Mt Arreat? Or even there relation to there Barbarian cousins?
Idk if it's just me but it really doesn't make much sense...
The only example I can think of is when Qual Kwkh introduces himself when you arrive in Harrogath playing a Druid he says- "A Druid in Harrogath! Have things truly come to this? After the Mage Wars, I assumed Druids would never be seen around here again. You take a great risk coming here! To be honest, I have never been in comfort with your shape-shifting kind, but I do respect your search for balance and peace. So, if you trust us enough to let you enter our gates, then I trust you enough to let you stay."

Don't try to be a great man, just be a man... and let history make its own judgment. -Zefram Cochrane, Star Trek
I mean, you get all this about the Barbarians, but just about nothing about Druids. And both are the same people, just different philosophies about how to protect Mt Arreat and the world stone.
nice i like this i would like to know more about this and doesnt look like we are getting a good christmas update besides 2 crappy screen shots and jay wilson saying the other 2 chars are just concept art right now
In a nutshell, the Druids were originally Babarians, but they thought the Worldstone should be proteccted in another way. So they went separate ways, and became two people.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

Druids use Natural Magic (Caoi Dulra), whereas Barbarians use Primal Magic. Isn't that one of the main differences? And, like the Necromancers, the Druids try to maintain a balance- but in nature. I, personally, loved the Druids. Loved them. I did a 37 page paper on the history of the Druids of our world (I only have half of it now, though, because I luckily saved that part on my flash drive). I would have really loved to go to their [the Sanctuary Druids] colleges (like Tul Dulra), or seen the great oak tree (Glor-an-Fhaidha). Oh well. This is a great topic, I just wish we had more information. The Druids are very elusive.
IF you think about it there isn't much stuff about any class in the game.. perhaps most about barbarians since Harrogath was a Barbarian town, all the other classes came from other places pretty much.
Hm... Yeah, I hadn't really thought about that. None of them were very well defined, except, as you've said, the Barbarian. But even lore-wise, we don't hear much about Druids, like, not much is said in the books, either, whereas Necromancers, adherents of Zakarum, and so forth are more commonplace.
Wouldn't you expect some lost records or something to be found in A5 though? Sense Barbarians and Druids come from the same group and have the same charge?

If Blizzard were to have thought of it at the time. The druid backstory was probably not very fleshed out when Lord of Destruction came out, and it still isn't.

I'd like to see some tomes in D3 that you could go and read. Similar to WoW, there are like 50 different books around the world and they have nice amount of story about the lore.

Realistically, I'd agree. There should have been some recordings of it somewhere. There should have been books you could read, like in Diablo I. I also think there should have been maybe a quest or two about the Druids since they're so related to the Barbarians. But, the focus was more on the defensive war (struggle, really) against Baal's invasion, and, as such, most of the quests were centered on this (although all were related to the war effort).
If the Elders hadn't of killed themselves to summon the protective ward (excluding Nihlithak), I'd think that they would have been a great compendium for knowledge on that front, since they're so old and would have likely been steeped in their historic lore.
Sigh... In an ideal world... Oh well
Maybe they'll catch on that in an ARPG, RPG is still an element, and we want stories. And history. That's why Diablo II, to me, just seemed like a straight Action game with some stray DnD/RPG elements mixed in.

Where exactly is the druid homeland?

But yea, if we don't get to play as a Druid, I'd love to be able to visit the Druidic homelands...
And in Diablo 1...
