My issue is, "How do I figure out the biggest bang for my buck in upgrades on the AH for this niche build?" And I've set off trying to come up with a simple Spreadsheet. (Please let me know if you've seen any resources similar to this. )
Phase 1: Scoring Your Gear against a baseline (Simple)
Inputs: My Actual Gear, broken down by STR/VIT, AR, CC, CD and OS (For Helms only. Assume Chest/Legs are just trying to hit STR/VIT however they manage.)
Reference: Preferably, a slot by slot breakdown of what each slot should have in terms of stats for a "medium" geared WW Barb. This is important that each slot is the equivalent "power level". IE I need agreement that THIS belt and THIS chest are both, say, 50% of the max in each notable stat.
For now, I'm using the following. (I apologize I do not have the source or OPs name)
Slot STR VIT STR/VIT Total AR CC CD OS
Helm 75 75 150 50 4 1
Shoulders 200 50 250 50
Bracers 150 50 200 50 4
Gloves 50 50 100 50 6 30
Boots 50 150 200 50
Belt 150 50 200 50
Pants 75 275 350 50
Chest 200 200 400 50
[Starting with just these gearslots]
Outputs: By comparing my gear with the reference gear, I'd like to see how far off the mark each slot is - A correctly weighted "Score" for each one of my slots that represent how close it is to a known "medium" gearset. This number should in effect tell you what's hurting you the most.
Note: Now I understand this effort could get really, super anal. There is a lot to consider - IE How do you quantify the "Score" of 12% Movement Speed against 100 STR? I'm sure it's possible, but I'm trying to stay as basic as I can and still get meaningful results.
What I'm looking for: Input on how each stat should be weighted for this niche build. I know there are MANY variations of WW Barbs (LoH or Leech Heavy, what slots carry/don't carry AR, etc etc etc) but I'm just hoping for a general concensus.
For simplicity, let's discuss just these stats' weights I ballparked currently, in the slots above. I'm skipping Rings/Ammy/Weap for now -
This idea sounds very similar to what zrave did. You can find the video explaining the system and the spreadsheet of values he's using here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZ3QSj9-PzA&feature=plcp
The spreadsheet was made for a revenge build barb in 1.0.3., so some values probably need some tweaking. I'm personally not playing a WW barb, so I can't help you there too much.
Also 20 AR is imo way better than 10 str, no matter what you are doing.
Btw what does OS stand for? I assume the socket, since it's the only thing that's special for the helm...
I considered doing something like this at one point around launch but I got side-tracked by life. I do think it's possible to link offense and defense in a reasonable way for a specific build, though it'll always be a little subjective. I'd start by trying to define two builds per acts 1-3, one offense-heavy and one defense-heavy (and possibly a balanced third build), with what I felt were about the minimum stats needed to complete the act. Then I'd try to find a single ratio of EHP to DPS which made the 2 (or 3) builds in each act come out to roughly the same number of points when added together. IE, if you got something like: (and these are totally made up obviously)
The ratio would be 1:8.333 so that 1,000,000 + 8.333*15,000 = 500,000 + 8.333*75,000 = 1,125,000
It might turn out that whatever ratio you find doesn't hold up between the acts, but it might be close enough to generalize about the value of strength vs. the value of straight AR at given levels of each, for example, which seems like it would be incredibly useful.

...and if you disagree with me, you're probably <insert random ad hominem attack here>.
i rather go with my gut feeling on this one, but if this works for you, go ahead.
I used to do this, but I've realized over time that my gut is nearly always proven to be an idiot once I do any serious number-crunching. I'm not what I'd call a particularly intuitive person though so your mileage may vary.

STR: 1
VIT: 1
AR: 2
CC: 15
CD: 3
OS: 50 [Helm only]
So for example, 10 STR is worth 20 All Resist, etc. Thoughts?

@Fer Solid advice. It's hard to weight O vs. D.
Thanks guys!
Build 1: 1,000,000 EHP, 15,000 DPS
Build 2: 500,000 EHP, 75,000 DPS
The ratio would be 1:8.333 so that 1,000,000 + 8.333*15,000 = 500,000 + 8.333*75,000 = 1,125,000
