After buff weapon dps:
[320+(200+2*200*0.1)]/2 *1 swing/sec = 295 dps (20 dps fire 275 dps physical)
The odd thing being that instead of averaging max and min damage values to calculate the elemental damage, it takes twice the min damage, multiplies it by the elemental factor, and adds it back to your min dmg.
My current understanding on 1.0.5 is that it works like this now:
I don't think that's quite right. Currently it adds 2 times the min damage multiplied by the bonus damage to your min damage. On the PTR it adds 2 times the average damage. It only uses physical damage for the calculations of course.
1.0.4,
200-350 damage becomes 240-350, gain of 40 damage
1.0.5
200-350 damage becomes 220-385 gain of 55 damage
So your model for 1.0.5 seems right but not for 1.0.4
I'm not sure if the current model is just how it is displayed in the tooltip or if that's how it actually calculates the damage.
EDIT: corrected the values, because for some reason I used 375 instead of 350.
I just have to interject that it is completely asinine that "Adds 10% to fire damage" does not take the fire damage you and amplify it by 10%. Clearly it should be reading 10% as fire damage.

I don't think it works this way currently. Instead the bonus is based on minimum damage but applied to minimum and maximum damage:100-200 damage, 10% elemental % damage becomes: 110-210 damage (instead of 110-220).If it would add both values to the minimum damage you would see higher than expected (double) values in cases when minimum damage >= maximum damage. In these cases you only see the nominal damage increase: 100 - 100 damage. 10% increase: You will get 110 damage instead of 120 ingame.
You're probably right, since that makes more sense when you take the case of a low damage weapon, add a bunch of +min damage to make the min > max, and still get the same dps gain in the char sheet. From a purely dps perspective, it doesn't matter if you add the damage to the min or max (aside from the case just mentioned, where min>max), so I just always added it to the min in my spreadsheet.

On live, 1.0.4, as far as I know it works like this:
Weapon: 200-350 dmg physical, 1 sec swing speed, all physical
Buff: Adds %10 to Fire Damage
Before buff weapon dps:
(350+200)/2 * 1 swing/sec = 275 dps
After buff weapon dps:
[320+(200+2*200*0.1)]/2 *1 swing/sec = 295 dps (20 dps fire 275 dps physical)
The odd thing being that instead of averaging max and min damage values to calculate the elemental damage, it takes twice the min damage, multiplies it by the elemental factor, and adds it back to your min dmg.
My current understanding on 1.0.5 is that it works like this now:
After buff weapon dps:
[(350+350*.1)+(200+200*.1)]/2 * 1 swing/sec = 302.5 dps
Is this accurate?
Edited: equations for how it should work
1.0.4,
200-350 damage becomes 240-350, gain of 40 damage
1.0.5
200-350 damage becomes 220-385 gain of 55 damage
