So I was thinking the other day of how respec changes the game for us veterans. We all preplan our builds ahead of time and follow them exactly, so we really have no use for them unless we make a mistake, which is uncommon at best if your a vet.
However I made a realization, respec allows us to do 4 build character progression.
That is to say you can use respec to make your character level up faster by making the fastest/most powerful build for the current difficulty you are in, then you respec when you hit the next difficulty and do the den of evil quest.
So you would have 4 different builds each one specialized for...
Normal(<Lvl20)
Nightmare(<Lvl40)
Hell(<Lvl50)
Farming/PVP(>Lvl60).
So for example looking at the Barbarian, Warcries are something every good Barbarian should invest in, however, the early game cries are useless! Its not until you get to BO & BC that they are good, but you don't get those until level 24 & 30, and even then they are annoying because you constantly have to recast them since they don't last very long since their so low.
With respecs you can just save the points you would have put into cries and instead invest them into other skills that are more useful, then respec later when you have enough skill points to make cries actually useful.
All in all I think these respecs will make leveling a character a more indepth process and much more fun since you will invest and depend on a wider variety of skills as you progress to that beautiful 99.
I agree. Many of us hold on to skill points just so that we can spend them when we get to a higher level. Now with the respec, we can spend these points to make the lower levels more fun without having to hold on to the points and not get to use any skills.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Same with say Energy for sorcs. Normally you wouldn't put a single point in but it'll come in useful to drop points there so you can tele without the gear.
Hmmmm... good points. Very good in fact. I haven't thought of it so much in this light. It definitely does add some depth to it which is enjoyable; and seems like you can have a fuller experience of each character you play-- cover more ground on the skill tree.

As soon as you get unlimited respec, what it does is make the game extremely easy at most stages.
Say you are basing your build on a certain lvl 30 skill to be your main attack.
Before you reach that level 30 skill, you can dump points into any lower skills to ease your combat against monsters.
Now if you don't have the respec option, items and tactics become center stage to gameplay. You'll have a hard time reaching that level 30 but once you do, the satisfaction that comes with it is reward enough. You appreciate your levelling up in a greatly enhanced way, I feel. Many players think nightmare and normal mode is most entertaining because it is this very aspect I mentioned that makes it so exciting. Hell is just spamming of your precious over-powered skill and lesser tactics. I always play single-player on 'players8' mode to get the best out a hell difficulty game.
Respec is of the same family as rushing games. You just don't need anybody now.
One playthrough + respec amulet = all builds for one character.
Gone is the feeling of gradual experience gain and leveling up and gaining power.
Easy and cheap.
Less game immersion.
Less fun.
Lazy as shit.
They should have added a few cheat codes as well.
