Solo'd it earlier today; just did my first 5 stack kill.

Note: I did have someone bug in my enchantress merc just for safe measures =P. I probably could've killed him it without.
Overall thoughts: Inferno Diablo, is more or less a joke for a barbarian. He literally cannot kill you unless you decide to walk into shadow prisons at half hp. We probably have the easiest time farming valor stacks as well due to the fact that corrupted angel packs tend to destroy DH/Wizards. Personally, it took me about 55 minutes to farm 5 stack valor.
All in all, I'm quite happy with Barbarians at the moment. Act 2 was extremely frustrating, but now looking back it was really just a big gear/play style check. Once you start breaking 9.2k+ armor, 800-900 all resist, 500-600+ life on hit, the game gets a lot better.
Threatening Shout with taunt ? What's that for ?
I can understand the -20% dmg, but taunt ? Was it because you were grouped and forgot to switch runes before doing your run ?
He was stacking NV, so assumably it's something he finds helpful for controlling champions/elites...?

I grew up gaming without internet forums. The entire phenomenon of being upset with a game developer makes no sense to me. No sense. I cannot imagine spending my time and energy being upset about something I choose to do for recreation.
Sadly it seems String of Ears/Stormshield are almost mandatory for progressing through Act 3/4 solo. They give WAY more damage mitigation than anything else can due to the huge diminishing returns on resistances/armor at high values. The block and melee damage reduction really make a difference. Shame it costs 10mil+ for decent stats on those 2 as people have worked out all Barbs want them...
Sorry guys, I was using threatening shout - falter (attack speed).
Stormshield (using a 27% one with 1300 armor) was one of the best purchases I ever made. This shield is worth it's weight in gold. I would definitely try to snag one asap -IF- it has +armor and a decent block% (25-26+). I'm personally of the opinion that shields are 100% necessary right now for smooth runs. You can get away with dual wielding, but you'll probably be dying significantly more.
SoE, imo, is not mandatory. As others have mentioned, there can be a considerable stat loss using SoE. Further, things that tend to kill you (fiery chains, molten) are often not melee attacks. I'm probably going to try another belt soon as comparison.
Another note, I'm currently at 46966 hp (yes you're reading that right) and I'm feeling extremely comfortable at this level of hp. I don't feel like you really need monstrous amounts of hp because you won't get 1 shot as a well geared barb. What you really need to focus on is ways to mitigate and sustain the incoming damage.

5-stack Inferno Azmodan kill from a dual-wielding Barb:
I'm not sure how he does in Act IV, but the shield looks less than mandatory.

Wow i'd really like to know this build.
I think it's probably something like this http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#fdiQPk!fYZ!abaZZc
He focuses on crits to get fury(via passive) to spam weapon throw non-stop.
I don't know what is the rune on ancient spear, so don't consider it...
He also uses the Scoundrel for the 3% crit I think, not sure

battle rage with Into to Fray
I thought about that, but I guess it's too much incoming fury already and he would use something to boost the numbers.
To generate more fury he could even use the 30 rage rune on ancient spear.
Will never know until the man himself talk more about it
Edit: NVM, pretty sure he uses Into the Fray as you said.
I may venture a guess that he uses the 15 rage on crit rune for Battle Rage..but it's up for debate. Would be nice for clarification on what a "chance" to gain 15 rage on crit is, anyway..
Thanks for sharing. Let me share few things as well:
Stormshield loses to Sacred shield cause the latter has better block amount.and higher base armor. SS has about ~2.7-3.7k block amount when Sacred shield has ~3.7-4.7.
SoE is not the BiS in item as the OP mentions cause its base stats are literally bad. Its not a bad belt but, if you reduce the damage reduction + the melee reduction you get a benefit of around total of 5% for 20% SoE.
Where is your Justice lantern and Helm of command? Those give 19% more block^^
Thanks,
Cudez
1300+ armor storm shields beat out sacred shields due to the 4% melee 4% elite reduction. Sure, sacreds block ~150 more damage on average but with Diablo inferno as the standard (hits for about 4k), 4% melee = ~160 reduction per hit, 4% elite = another ~160 reduction per hit.
I'm also trying to work in double Ias rings/Andy's helm into my gear. I find myself surviving fine but I'm looking for more damage.

battle rage with Into to Fray
http://us.battle.net...iQPk!fZY!abaZZZ
This is the build he listed. No Into the Fray, no fucking clue how he maintains is rage. This specific build is the one he listed for the above video.
So the said player in the video uses pretty much the same build in different scenarios, not sure which is good where. Only thing he changes around is the rune on Ancient Spear. Still no Into the Fray, wtfff.
Act 3 is still kicking my butt. 881 res all and 10.8k armor with shout and enchantress up, and about 950 life on hit. I still seem to get 2-3 shot by many normal mobs.
I'm currently having trouble tanking in act III inferno. I have 750-900 resistances, 36k hp, 30% block, 10k dps. Any advice you could give me? I tried a lif eon hit weapon but it doesn't seem to affect me so much =/. Was a +371 lifeo n hit weapon with holy damage i believe.
EDIT: forgot to mention I got 10.1k armor aswell with enchantress buff, any help appreciated
Hmm, your stats seem good except your hp is a bit low. You also need to increase your resistances, especially physical/fire to above 1k. Put a lot of priority in gear that has AR + phys/fire resist + armor; armors like these are huge boosts to your mitigation.

Your armor is far outpacing your all resist, you should look to equalize them.
Playstyle wise, are both of you using threatening shout? If not, I would recommend picking it up as it's essentially another -20% damage taken. Also try to utilize leap (iron impact) as much as possible and only fight the difficult packs when you have the 300% armor up.
well to be honest and i hope i dont sound like an ASS i am not surprized you think inferno is balanced for barb, you have gear well worth over 40-50mil. Also the point i want to make is that you basically have to be 1h + shield to go past act 2.

I've been slowly progressing with a 2H all the way in act3 now. Stuff kinda hurts but with leap+ignore pain normal mobs die decent enough (1k physical resist 900ish other resists). Shield is in no way mandatory but its optimal for when undergeared, just don't have a decent shield/onehander myself.
Really inferno is a nice challenge just need the gear to beat it is that so bad?
well to be honest i do enjoy a chalange i trololo in ACT I and have been working in ACT 2 as a 2h barb i have 750+ resist all 40k hp and 6.2k armor with 23k dps... i guess i am just kinda pissed that people playing DH/WiZ can do ACT 4 with like half the gear i have.

In his faster 12.5 second kill video he uses this one, only difference is the Ancient Spear rune. (He doesn't have 5 stack in the 12.5 kill so maybe that build was only for maximum dmg output.

I guess you need the heal to clear trash/elites with Ancient Spear.
EDIT: I got really confused when FLM posted this build above:
