Holy wow. So I guess I can take advantage of this then. My barbs gear way better than that budget. Working 7pm-7am all week. Looks like I have to suck it up and play atleast 3hours a day.
Thanks a lot for this. My levels should sky rocket around paragon 178 now
the Hellfire Ring doesn't increase a lot, but you can use it ofc, it's a cheap way to get a GG ring to use.
I use a HF ring when I farm XP on my barb, this budget barb is a guide for starting with nothing, HF rings and other upgrades will come later.
Perhaps I will make a continuation to the budget barb adventures in the future to show what to upgrade for, but all of that information is already published by me on Twitch and Youtube if you look around for it.
I farmed this route for about 2 hours today. I played around with what worked best T3/T4/T5/T6. I wasn't getting anywhere near close to that xp though. I was getting:
I was trying this out a little bit last night with some admittedly awful gear on lower torment levels just to try the buildbut one thing that struck me was how many mobs you seemed to have in your cota runs. Do higher torment levels give you better mob density?

Fairly sure it's just RNG on the amount of mobs that spawn per game. Some games I get a measly 1 pack + the elite pack, other games its packed full of mobs.
You'll notice I switched to CD reduction in the shoulders/glove slots, this will be explained in the future (it is for group runs). My gloves for some reason show up wrong, it's 302 str, 5atk, 10cc, 6cdr. Not perfect, would prefer CD > atk, but didn't really feel like rolling more.
Sorry to inconvenience you Manner. I know you're probably getting spammed left and right with questions/opinions on gear choices and builds. Is there any way I can have a minute of your time to possibly look at the gear I currently have and give me some advice?
Just finished watching your 23 minute video, so it helped a great deal. But I just feel like I'm not utilizing the gear I have very well right now (using Boulder Toss build). I want to help out my group more, with faster clears and also farm on my own; when our scheduling changes.
No one else finds it even a tiny bit odd that there are plenty of guides on how to farm a tiny room with essentially 2 enemy types with a clear case of "clever use of in game mechanics"? I wish people would spend even half as much time on trying to get things like these out of the game rather than finding the best way to reap the benefits before a fix.
Well, honestly, a lot of streamers and youtubers are trying to build a community. I mean, I get what you're saying, and I don't totally disagree - however. When you *know* that you have a working 'glitch', or.. whatever.. and you know you're an early adopter.. and you've done stuff online before.. you also know that, *CHA-CHING* noises sound in your head the moment a eureka moment hits.
So in other words ... if someone wants to see me die 5000 times, and that's what is going to get me 1,000,000 views.. guess what? I'm making a whole montage of me dying 5000 times, I might even put in some fireworks or something, and I'm posting it everywhere.. I mean.. you don't have to like it, but if that's what people respond well to, then that's what people often try to give them.
Believe me. I've heard a lot of stuff in my life. And I don't have a massively successful business, youtube channel, or anything else right now. However.. up until about a week ago, I never once posted in forums, google communities, facebook fan pages, twitter.. None of that. The moment I do, and surprise.. surprise.. surprise.. I get a huge uptick in average views.
I'm not interested in reality TV much either.. but if I owned a TV network, and it only costs me $20K an episode and people want to tune in, thereby driving up my ad dollars.. Guess what? We're going to have reality TV shows. Now, I may not watch them. Ever.. but it's business, If it makes me money and it's legal, I'm probably doing it.
Or here's a thought: make a channel talking about why people are bottom dwelling, scum sucking, opportunistic leeches. Who knows.. maybe you'll end up on The Tonight Show and make a million dollars, keepin in real! (good luck with that, but hey you never know)
Well these kinds of things being in the game for a long time kinda destroys the paragon levels and them being an indication of anything. Your point of demand justifying distribution is kinda moot as well. If there was a button hidden in the game that gave a paragon level each time you pressed it people would press it, this is just a lesser version of that. Difficulty and the amount of reward does not meet in here. I have nothing against anyone in the thread, i just enjoy complaining.
My point of demand justifying distribution is moot?
Yea, I suppose nobody ever wants to service a demand. No idea what I was thinking there. Anyway, moving on to other things..
Frankly paragon levels never really meant anything in terms of either skill or gear, other than when they FIRST came out - after that, time spent can trump everything else. But, in general, I agree that these runs aren't good for the game - they are really grindy in an already grindy game, and they are so much better than anything else that they feel mandatory. Every time one of these things comes out, I hope it will get nerfed, but in the meantime I will be running it over and over and over, because doing anything else feels like a waste.
That being said, I think Blizzard compounded the problem by instituting this patch without RoS, because most gear you get will feel meaningless at 70, so there isn't much left to do but grind paragon levels.
This method of powering paragon is extremely effective. I recently leveled a Barb to 60, came here to check out some 2.0 build advice and stumbled upon this thread and I'm glad I did! Props to Manner, well done.

Here's my under 50m Budget Barb guide that can allow you to farm T6 COTA runs at a 3B exp per hour (Theory), most likely achieve 1.5-2B on average.

I farmed this route for about 2 hours today. I played around with what worked best T3/T4/T5/T6. I wasn't getting anywhere near close to that xp though. I was getting:
T3 = 600M/hour
T4 = 900M/hour
T5 = 1.2B/hour
T6 = 1.5B/hour
nonetheless, good results for Budget barb imo.

so there will be lots of variance in your results, but over the course of hours it will even out.

I also completed two budget barbs which I wil be giving away this weekend on my twitch, http://www.twitch.tv/mannercookie
you can currently see them at these two profiles

don't have exact costs, but both were well under 50m, gems included.
This is the barb I use for COTA runs personally.
