Actuallyi took a break from D3 for 1 month again. And i don't have decent sunwuko amulet right now. But sunwuko amulet is just best choice for this kind of build. Since it gives you another armor piece choice. So we can add some set bonusses or some sort of offense/defense item with this way. At the end i'm not using the best gear that i planned for now. Probably recommended pieces will perform much much better.
You can see best gear pieces in guide that i linked at first post. (Recommended/Required ones)
I tried this build but switched to fire cus i got a nice cindercoat with max fire and max resource cost red. this helps me a lot to keep tempest rush going. I switched Epiphany to Ascendence for packs and sweeping wind to fire. only missing Hexing Pants then it should devastate T6 totally for me. Greets
Hey Raka80,
Yes you can replace some items with anothers for Tempest Rush builds. But Hexing Pant of Mr. Yan is kinda mandatory for Tempest Rush. After using it, you will feel the difference.
And i wanna know how was Ascendence rune of Epiphany?
Like you said Fire Tempest Rush is also possible and it can be efficient for sure. Got some nice damage modifiers for it. I'll also try to work on it. Probably other fellow monks created some builds for this even. So you can checkout those to get some idea for your fire tempest rush build. Cheers.
I'm not certain on some of the gem choices, you run past mobs too quickly in my mind for Bane of the trapped, to do much good, the poison gem gives almost the same damage boost (10/15%) and works at a distance, any long range damage like the wreath of lightning or the tornado's left by Sweeping wind will proc the gem beyond that tiny 15 yard radius, you should do much more damage across the entire screen, the gem also does decent DOT so mobs can die off screen.
At higher gem levels Bane really loses damage potential, toxin gem boosts all damage and has a very effective DOT (scaling with gem level), especially for a build where most things die off screen (very few mobs will be dying in a 15 yard radius) and it's a gem that is very good in low attack speed builds with high 2-handed weapon damage.
Hey jamesworkshop,
Actually makes sense. Build is damage over time build. So like you said Toxin gem should work nicely aswell. Tonight i'll try what you said. We just get used to classics for a while. so sometimes sticking the best possible gem for just buffing damage output can't be true overall. Specially for this kind of (Damage over time - AoE) build.
Currently trying to improve more. So thanks for the idea!
I am highly interested in this build, but seem to lose spirit instantly, what is the key item to maintain spirit?
Thanks,
Demonmonger
PS. Would love to see a equipment and stat breakdown if you would be so kind as to share
Hey Demonmonger,
Happy to see people are interested about this build!
So let me explain spirit management and other mechanics;
Once you open rift, You need to just walk around with right click mouse. After you saw mobs you can active your sweeping wind (Only once) Then you can start using Tempest Rush with shift - right mouse click. Once you go through the mobs. You will start getting your sweeping stacks automatically. Dash through the mobs that far away as much as you can. With this way you will keep your sweeping wind stacks.
So here is the key for Dashing - Tempest Rush Hybrid Move;
Shift + Left mouse click only when you are surrounded by mobs. And do closest circle around the mobs there. It will spawn cyclones effectively for that area. And will do highest damage with this way. If you need to jump another place use dashing strike and suddenly stop shift + left mouse click combo for avoiding from little delay. After you land your dash/ stopping tempest rush then you can start with going Shift + Left mouse button again. So this is like smoothest gameplay for Dash + Tempest Rush hybrid move.
There are 3 strong mechanics for maintaining spirit in this build;
1 - Mystic Ally Skill - Passive - 8 Spirit per second - Also Gives you instantly 200 spirit when you press it.
2 - Epiphany - Insight 45 Spirit per second when you activate. (15 seconds long)
3 - Health Globes - Reaper's Wraps (Bracer) effect.
Also Hexing Pants of Mr Yan effect.
Crudest boots doubles the spirit regeneration of mystic ally.
Templar as follower gives you spirit regen aswell.
Spirit Management:
- Try to keep your Sweeping Wind - Cyclone stacks. With this way you will avoid wasting your spirit. Cause it consumes spirit when you activate aswell.
- Try to get health globes as much as you can if you are using Reaper's Wraps.
- You need some timing between Mystic Ally and Epiphany. Don't use both at same. Once you run out of spirit use Mystic Ally First, (which gives you instant 200 spirits.) . Then you can use Epihany after some time. This is the circle.
[quote]After some improvements - changes i can create new gameplay video with explanation. If you are following the build, you can take a look Testing - Changes sections on this guide. (For Improvements) It will be updated with fellow monk's suggestions-testings when some changes happen. Perfection for the win!
LOL that looks like one hell of a fun build! I'm definitly going to try it out. What I've been wondering, would it be worth it to use 2 part of inna's (chest and belt). It would give you some extra spirit regen and turn down the cost of sweeping wind to almost nothing. This would allow you to mindlessly spam it to keep your taeguk at max the entire time. Ofcourse you would lose damage on the belt.
Well i thought inna replacements over and over again for the build.
But here are the reasons why we are not using Inna set for the main setup;
1 - We only need 1 mantra-rune for this build. (Inna gives 4 mantras, other 3 mantras are irrevelant)
2 - We'll lose %15 elite damage from getting rid of aughild set, and also will lose %15 lightning damage from getting rid of Thundergod's Vigor. (It got small proc efficiency aswell) Trash mob die fast already. So total damage lose is huge for elites in my opinion.
3 - We can replace Aughild Set with Bracers, but with this way we will lose movement speed buff from our bracers then. (Also still %15 damage lose from belt.)
4 - After trying out a lot of times, i just realized spirit is not even the issue if we can manage mystic ally - epiphany timing.
5 - Only problem can be Sweeping Wind refreshment. With movement speed and dashing strike this problem also fixes itself when we reach other mobs fast enough. Just in so bad density rifts we need to refresh sometimes..
So overall we'll lose stats that we needed for this build, but will gain spirit second and free sweeping wind stacks.
Not worth it in my opinion.
I wanted to add inna set to for sure. But we can test it again. I don't think it will do better as dpswise.

It's a lot of fun! Not cause i came with this idea. It just feels smooth. So that's why i wanted to share.
