IMO skeletons, golems, things that dont have blood SHOULD not be affected by certain types of spells. Also skeletons should be immune to such effects including bleeding and poison. Because skeletons dont have any blood to bleed out and they also dont have any muscles or organs to poison!!!
People will cry "oh thats not fair" but I mean that is just the way it has to be. The same way maces do 50% more damage to undead, certain spells needed to be restricted not for realism but for common sense.
Wanna know what else isn't realistic? Spells themselves.
LMAO
.. ya and also that skeletons can walk in general

Even if one takes every reefer madness allegation of the prohibitionists at face value, marijuana prohibition has done far more harm to far more people than marijuana ever could
I always was a fan of how Demons and Undead were their own groups and certain things worked better or worse on them all depending. However in D2 they really didn't play it up at all. It was never a deciding factor. I would love to see some more of this kinda restriction in D3, as to where it matters.

Very good points. I'd be very interested in what Blizzard would have to say about this.
didn't we already discussed this already?
the exploding heart is just an icon to show that effect
it doesn't really mean that the skill exploded the skeletons' "heart"
and poison doesn't have to be poisoning their muscles or flesh either.
it could be destroying the structure of their bones.
if you want to get into realism, then skeletons shouldn't be able to move in the first place or even stand since they don't have any muscles or ligaments to support them or allow them to move

Holy crap how could I have missed that. Lol look at me, caught thinking inside the box! Awesome conclusion!
I like how almost everybody in this topic has completely twisted mad3nch1na's words, and are actually telling him that he is asking for realism in Diablo III, despite the fact he made it perfectly clear in his original post that he isn't. People should stop shoving words down his throat and let him elaborate, in my opinion.
Yes it is amazing how some people don't read.
But I mean skeletons exploding blood does not make sense to me, because skeletons don't have blood.
That would be like popping a water balloon and having OJ Simpson jump out and shoot you in the face.
like 1 of the guys said theres things that blizzard makes in games that make no sense whatsoever for sake of gameplay and just like WoW mini tyrael? mini diablo? why they put those things on WoW just like the murloc in starcraft armor lol

Those things are cool because of how popular these things are.
They are the "essence" of blizzard, they are pop culture icons, at least for every Blizzard fan.
And actually D1 D2 did make allot of sense, skeletons did not bleed. If you played a Barb the skill "find potion" it did not work on slain skeletons, because they were not corpses! Imagine that.
It just occured to me that maybe they're (near-)immune to it in hell difficulty, but not in normal or nightmare...
I agree. In normal they shouldnt be immune because people would still be getting used to the game it it would have to be easier, since its the easiest difficulty level. Nightmare and Hell they can be and I would have no problem. Fallen were immune to fire in Hell and me being a fireball sorc it sucked. That would seem the same to me if skeletons were immune to bleeds or poisons.
Isn't the skill called exploding palm? I see that skill more like what baal did to the helpless diplomat on mont arreat (in the cinematic). You know, a wave of energy that enters your body and makes you explode from the inside out. If you see it that way... anything can be destroyed by an exploding palm including skeletons. I have to admit that flying bones and dust is gonna be fun to watch :D!
p.s : I'm pretty sure that the heart is just there to signify that an exploding palm has been performed on the monster... just like when you kill someone in GTA a hovering pile of cash appears on the deceased! LOL, I don't usually see that on tv
I've always thought that necromancy was a form of telekinesis
Hmm. Actually this does bother me a bit. For some reason I can't help thinking skills like this wouldn't have worked on skeletons had it been D2
Maybe, but corpse explosion works on the skeletons and that's pretty bloody despite the lack of skeletal blood...maybe it's just bone marrow.

While the idea of making some units immune to certain skills based on their anatomy is realistically sound, fantasy games are in no way realisitic. This would limit monks to only certain abilities where other classes would still be donimating undead mobs.
Think of exploding palm as a spell, nothing more nothing less. It looks awesome and I'm sure the majority of hardcore Diablo fans will welcome such a bloody and awesome addition to the monks already kick ass arsenal.
What a boring game if monsters only drop what they are carrying... That would mean pretty much no loot from most monsters.
Um no actually thats a pretty big misconception, if you have played a game like titan quest you would understand that monsters can drop what they are wearing and using and the game would still have a ton of items, actually thats something that i hope they apply to D3 monsters should drop what they are using, the game can function perfectly this way and it will just make it more realistic. I actually used to get pretty mad when something like a mosquito in act 3 would drop a sword that was just freaking ridiculous.

How can skeletons with no blood or heart be effected by exploding heart?
and then explode in a pool of blood?

You are right, but...
It's not table top dungeons and dragons where logic applies. Blizzard has been known to have "things that make no sense" for the sake of gameplay.
Such as wolves dropping swords and mail armor as loot.
LMAO

Good idea, good catch.
What if you are a poison spec'd wd. You would be screwed.
