Yes, it is accurate for the Diablo III Monk to dual-wield short swords. We're not talking about the Barbarian's ability to dual-wield two-handed, huge-ass swords. The Chinese monks from which the D3 Monk draws (in part, mind you) its style have a plethora of unique and enticing swords to slash people with. Here's a list for reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_swords#Sword_types
Some of us might instantly recognize the Dao, or in English the "Chinese broadsword," which are often wielded in pairs called Shuang Dao:
I would definitely consider these applicable to our D3 Monk's arsenal. The interesting part would be the attack animation... probably a copy/paste of what the Barb does when it normal attacks using 2 swords.
Others include:
Butterfly Swords (húdié shuāng dāo, pretty much meaning double Dao, but shorter)
and Hook Swords
Of course for Diablo III the artists can mess with the design as much as they want, and I'd love to see some epic double swords on my Monk. Why rip through demons with one sword when you can do it with two?!

The final test of the Serpent's Form takes place in "The Pit of 12 Vipers." The initiates are not told about the 13th.

Hook Swords like Kabal in Mortal Combat 3 ! that is exactly what i want
And a sudden plunge in the sullen swell. Ten fathoms deep on the road to hell...
Kabal uses double Hook Swords, and being a Kabal MK9 user I'd love to see monks using those, would be sick =]
