Heck yeah. I was turning toward the Monk as I was watching the trailer for the first time when it was announced. When the trailer finished, my main was set in stone. I have yet to waver from that decision.
I am for sure liking the Monk's dashing abilities atm. It makes fighting group of mob that much more enjoyable.
Though, the Monk cannot hop from level to the next with any of his ability. That is why I still going to choose the Barbarian as my first class. The Monk will come in second.
I looks as if I will be levelling a monk and barb simultaneously at least for the first month and a bit. I'll be playing the monk wit 3 of my friends (4 player parties fit us well) and when I want to play alone I'll level a monk. I want to use a two handed sword, honestly if monks could have used two handed swords I would have waiting a few more chars to make a barb.
Another thing is, I never end up fidning good items for the classes I'm palying. If I'm lucky I'll be able to divide the loot between the chars. That slow the journey to inferno yeah, but there will be those days were you play all day to make up for that.
Tough call between the WD and Monk. I lean toward the Monk because it reminds me most of the Assassin. But I also feel kind of bummed that most people who preferred a Paladin from D2 will also want the Monk.
I have always liked the holy warrior. Some people say that they miss the paladin but I think the monk is a great breath of fresh air. The monk even has a few things from the paladin, like aura/mantra and can heal others. When the monk was announced back at blizzcon I knew that the monk would be my class. Later when we found out more skills I was going into college for electrical physics. So to see things like fists of thunder , and the hands of lightning rune on way of the hundred fists just showed that the class was built for me and to catch my attention. Some people say that the monk needs weapon animations , I am fine without them. If they add them i would not say its a bad thing.
After flip-flopping from WD to Monk, to WD again. I can safely say I'll be using my Monk primarily and 1st. I played them both back to back this Friday in the open beta. The Monk was just more fun to me, imo. With him being a dps beast and couple with healing abilities - I'll be karate choppin' my way to victory.
