Note, however, that all this gear might become obsolete with 2.1 and the incoming monk class changes.
For solo play there are some other specs, but to be honest the entire monk class is just waiting for the 2.1 overhaul. 2.1 is still 3 months away, so if you play in group I think it's still not to unreasonable to go for a support monk until seasons start.
Like I said, 2.1 is still 3 months away. And gearing up a tank monk doesn't take too much time. Eventually, all gear might become obsolete in 2.1 because we don't know to what extent they introduce new legendaries, change healing, and revamp sets and skills of other classes. No need to sit tight and do "nothing" for now. I wouldn't spend a billion and thousands of materials on a tank monk, but if you have nothing else to do and don't mind wasting a bit of time and materials, AND you're looking for T6 group play... sure, go ahead.
If you play solo, some of the new specs like the 1000 storms set with Dashing Strike might work out well, though not everyone likes the gameplay, it's a bit strange.
@Hooas: Absolutely fun > efficiency, but he's asking about "best" monk build on T6 (!), and there really is only one (at least for group play). Sure, there might be some other T6 viable monk DPS builds but in the end those are not "best" by any stretch of imagination, actually slow groups down as compared to inviting a random shotgun Crusader or jade WD or whatever.
If ever you take a health globe, use Divine Protection to return below 20-25% hp, NDE secures the procedure.
There are many ways to abuse such mechanisms, critical hits related skills - cyclone (fill the whole screen wooo..), numbing light, eventually sixth sense (+ Backlash if you don't need Divine Protection) , and many items, the most obvious being http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/irontoe-mudsputters and http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/prides-fall-pgClp .. also consider using wyrdward and Epiphany - Ascendance..
well this looks fascinating. Are there any videos/guides of this build in action? a quick google search didn't bring me to one but then again I didn't try very hard.
What should I craft or what sets should I aim for?
Solo or in group?
For T6 group play there's only one option: the support monk.

But looks like monk is not ready for any fun playing atm
I just wanted an idea on what to aim for when gambling on pieces with my monk
