So, as RiF will die out with 2.1, I want to make the last moments "count", and get the set items that unlocks powerful, "fun" builds for the three chars that I am likely to play - wiz, DH and WD (I dislike melee to a fault). I've already almost finished off my marauder DH, and have long been done with my wizard.
I don't know nearly enough about WD to "plan out" what to do with it, though - I know that I (obviously) want the set pieces, but what other items are used in conjection with them? EG, for jade harvester WD I want:
Is there other specific pieces I want, though? Standard Harringtons belt, or?
I'm guessing I want my second ring to be a unity or a SoJ.
Any specific Mojo? I think I've heard about ukhapian serpent being good (basicly a Unity in its own might?)
And last, but not least, what are the "favorable" stats? I'm guessing haunt+plague swarm skill affixes. Not sure about the element on neck/bracers.
Same question goes if I'd want a zunimassa's pet doctor setup. I'm guessing:
Zuni boots.
Zuni chest.
Zuni helm (so I can use ukhapian serpent mojo?).
RoRG.
Starmetal kukri weapon.
Ukhapian serpent mojo.
Do I want a tal mans finger or a SoJ?
Again, which element? Which skill bonuses?
Basicly, what I'm looking for is a "what gear to look for to get a proper WD going-for-dummies".
No, for pet wd helm should be Mask of Jeram and nothing else if you want to be effective. If you want to have full zuni set, then it's probably better if you go for boots + chest + mojo. Since you won't be in the middle of the fight, damage reduction is not that crucial as it is for jade build.
For pet build, Tasker and Theo are some very desirable gloves, but I've heard that obtaining them might take quite a lot of work... 30k+ shards and more, if RNG hates you.
Most pets deal physical damage, though fire Gargantua is used quite often as well. Don't see fire dogs as often, by they are used from time to time... So pick your element out of those two. If fetishes will be your main damage dealer, than physical is probably the best choice.

Ah, yea, forgot about Jeram. I actually have a quite decent one already for my WD (I geared it a little back when they removed the crit dmg cap - armory here:http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Draco-2719/hero/35820816 - sadly, no TnT for my WD during the spree there. Got dex ones for my DH, don't think I'll be as lucky again :(.
For Jade:
Belt: Hwoj Wrap for survival, Harrington/Witching Hour for damage
Offhand: Uhkapian serves incredible survival.
Your elemental damage should always aim for cold damage as it's the main damage resource of Jade.
A strong weapon means a slow & strong 1H weapon and it's Sunkeeper.
For Pet:
As people mentioned, you definitely want a Mask of Jeram.
And as a pet doctor, I need more survival than Jade even my pets tank for me from time to time. With the right gear, fetishes hurt anyway, so I kinda gave up on SoJ and put on a Zuni's Pox in order to equip an Uhkapian Serpent. I like to survive better even if it's softcore.
From my experience, I find the damage of physical fetishes better than fire gargantuan % fire fetishes damage. So, physical all the way for me.
Strongarm bracers work great with Piranhado in conjunction with Jade build, but a lot of people fail to realize just what mobs it affects. The only mobs affected by the Strongarm +% dmg increase are the ones who actually get sucked into the piranhado. Not the ones who just bounce around in there. Learning proper placement of Piranhado takes a bit, but when you get it down the Strongarms really shine.

How "mandatory" is +cold dmg for Jade doctors? I have 5 pieces and am thinking of farming for a RoRG. But I have no +cold dmg gear (except the crafted lego axe) and am not sure I want to farm for the new items/enchant mats. I know the DoT skills are cold-based, but...

Is that Mask of Jeram supposed to show a static +75% pet dmg? Or is that new to 2.1 and Blizz just let it slip in the game guide w/o telling anyone?

Haunt (%4000 over 12sec) hits way more than Locust Swarm (%1040 over 8sec) and it's a cold spell. No point on stacking Locust Swarm or poison/fire damage. Without bonuses, especially bonus cold damage, Jade Harvester would be a pain to play. If you can't get all cold damage, poison helps too of course for damage output, but I don't think it's even necessary.
Beside the regular stats like int, vit, res, armor, critc, critdmg you really want %haunt and CDR. Lower Soul Harvest CD = more dmg. More dmg with Jade = moresurvivability. IAS is useless. What's the hard part with a Jade Doctor is balancing all these stats. I found myself really low on HP on mine for the longest time. US is probably a smarter choice if you need mitigation (2.1 inc). As of now Harrington is the best belt, but that will change in 2.1, since there aren't many clickables in greater rifts.
Pet doctors have a lot of options. %fire or %phys? (or even %poison? upcoming %cold in 2.1?) Zuni or no Zuni? Fetishes using the skill or the passive? TMF or not? %dogs or %fetish on gear? That's why I went back from Jade to pet Doctor -- more options. I also find pet builds better than Jade in greater rifts.
When I head back to the Pet build I really wanted to try %fire with %dog. Before that I went %phys with %fetish. I found %fire better because of none shit AoE. Since the gear was recently put together, it isn't very good. Though above avarage:http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/arniqq-1949/hero/17147879
Currently testing if I can skip a CDR passive and still have 100% uptime on Fetishes with SMK. The rift has to be very bad in order for downtime. I'm also testing out it's better to ahve %fetish or %dogs.
Not using Harrington since I'm testing stuff, and it's not gonna be too useful in the future. I'm not lucky enough to have a WH drop yet.

That's basically what you're going for as a Jade WD.
There's a few variations for Pet WD, but we can discuss that in game.
