i'll chime in, i was reading through the patch notes, until i came across that wd/wizard spells dont count for depth diggers anymore..a week ago i had switched to a explosive toads bulld for the fact that i got a 93% DD, and it..was...awesome...my toads went from 2-3m to 8-10m! amazing change, and upgraded dps
people forget that not all wd's are running jade and being super op, i still run alternative builds like pets and even the mimic mask build (poison) and i also have a fetish build with the other helm, Carnevil, so i was really looking forward to using poison dart with the DD too, i was going to log on and try that out this weekend...but...no blizzard had to be lame and nerf the fun, of course
WD's arent as op as everyone says, yes we got great mobility, defense, and offense, but our star build is jade, or maybe pets, but jade is really only 1 that can get high up on the GR levels, just because of a 1 button kill mechanic, its pathetic, but effective.
I was all hoping they finally gave wds's another build or 2 that was viable and fun with the DD's, and its funny to because i was explaining to witch doctor chat on PTR that wow my toads went from 2-3m to 8-10+ and they said well DD shouldn't be buffing them, its a bug, it doesn't say wd spells, and i'm like yes it does, it counts wd's free spells too...and they argued that it shouldn't..and I'm like it should! wd's NEED this change! its great...
Flash forward a week or 2...and...yeah...sigh "not intended" I'm sure, well i say screw that, and I'm aucutally frustrated now, cuz i took the time to make that build and it was WORKING and now its back to meh damage again, and more jade runs...*yawn*
blizzard throws us a bone, only to pull it back cuz its on a string, and you hear them laughing, like oops our bad, we didn't intend that, let us fix that for you guys!
Ok, I'm gonna stop quoting that because it's getting outrageously long lol. But anyway, I had the crimsons equipped because before I made the video, I was wearing all Vyr's / cooldown reduction gear. I didn't have anything else to equip and didn't feel like making cain's. Second, I just threw the unity on since it was an item being mentioned as superior to RoRG that you would lose out on if you wore Firebird's. Personally I almost always play in a group, so I would never be wearing it anyway.
In the end I still think my point stands though. You called this a major nerf, since you get locked out of Cindercoat, magefists, Aughild's, and unity if you use Firebirds. But I used Firebird's, didn't get locked out of Aughild's, and I still killed Ghom quicker than when I used those previously mentioned pieces. I fail to see how this is a major nerf. Another thing to mention is that in greater rifts lvl 30 and higher, you need to kite a hell of a lot more, and your MM stacks would constantly drop off enemies the way they are on live right now. With the new firebird set, you can kite and never lose that big DoT from ticking.
The real problem is that T6 isn't the endgame anymore. Our damage has to scale beyond T6 ghom and reach into greater rift levels 40+. T6 is only like GR level 25. The old stacking conflag allowed the damage to scale to those levels whereas now we are capped.
Can I ask, what classes have damage that scale with the rift besides monk EP? which blizzard has stated they were gonna look into. (btw, the change to the EP fist weapon... was that supposed to be a nerf? cause... it seems like a buff to me). I don't think blizzard wants our abilities to scale with the rift, which is why they were talking about addressing EP.
I'm not quite sure because I think the leg gems are still bugged in PTR... but on the main page where it shows all the gems... some numbers are shown in blue... which makes me believe scales with the rank of the gem, that you upgrade by going further into GRs... So couldn't you scale your MM Conflag higher with the primary skill gem? making the 130% per stack get higher as your gem gets stronger?
On top of all of this, Blizzard has come out before and said they wanted to make sets tiered above regular legendaries, which makes me believe they want us using sets end game. The new firebird set makes up for the "nerf" to conflag to me. MM Conflag and FB sync together by having FB refresh Conflag, which loops back and activates FB. Meaning you won't have to reach 3000% weapon dmg for the perma dot... the one Conflag you cast continuously refreshes 2 dots now ( with FB set ).
I'm not trying to step on anyones toes, as the PTR hasn't cooperated with me too well... but I know that my wizard can clear T5/6 a heck of alot easier now than live. If anything I said above is mistaken... please let me know. But as for taking the scaling out of conflag, I think blizzard is trying to move the scaling into the gems and out of our abilities. Because that way you have to clear GRs and upgrade your gem to progress further and further. I'm sure we can agree that blizzard knows what THEY want us to play, and they always push us towards it. And they want us doing GRs.
Guys, Firebird was buffed, together with mm conflig its overall an buff. STOP crying, find something somewhere to whine about. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE SOMETHING, someone gets pissed about. Even if no nerfs, there will be something else. Get over it, go test yourself, its still AT LEAST as strong as it was before, only difference is, you'd now need Firebird set. So please, everyone who hasn't even TRIED IT OUT YET, just stop trash-talking.
Except it's not an overall buff. I've provided you with basic math that proves otherwise - it's a buff for the first nine seconds of an encounter, and a nerf thereafter. How you "feel" it's doing has nothing to do with actual math. Please provide factual evidence of your claims.
No math is needed. Now you only have to shoot a pack 2-5 times, then it will die from the permanent DOT. Meanwhile before this patch, you had to shoot a pack 10-30 times, before you could run to the next pack. This allow us to speed-farm way way faster, since we constantly can be on the move.
...Yea, that's not what I have been saying at all. It limits our upper dps, which is fairly shit compared to demonhunters, witch doctors, and even shotgun crusaders, because the dot no longer stacks infinitelly. It does give us more mobility due to the dot needing no upkeep. That doesn't make it an overall buff. It removes damage for the sake of utility.
Math clearly is needed, as anything but math is going to be a matter of opinion, and can thus not be proven nor disproven. That's like me arguing religion with someone from a different faith of mine (Yea, I believe the new firebirds set and missiles is stronger than your puny old conflagrate missiles, because it allows me to run around more and kite while stuff slowly dies ---- see? Doesn't work well. Numbers do).
well, in place of mm/conflag we now get something else with the new changes to epxlosive blast, this mean that a wiz with firebird and wand of woe can get this superdot up with like 2 casts. or mby even one when you take critical hits into account. (infact im wondering if we even need the woe to make the spec work. casting 3 explosive blasts without woe should be enough to get the dot up, and then we can run on to the next elitepack knowing the dot will kill this one eventually.

Kinda does suck that WoW is the rarest wizard weapon. Only ones beating it overall is Rimeheart, Little rogue, slander and Cam's rebuttal if the charts are to be believed.

You don't need WoH to get that superdot in 2 casts. All you need is to drop 3 stacks of MM/Conflag on your target. In fact, you don't even need to worry about the superdot, since even 1 stack of Conflag with eventually kill any monster. Probably will get nerfed before 2.1 hits live servers though.

Seem to be overlooking Greater Rifts are timed, and while the dot will kill any monster; will it do it in TIME?

Nope.
Well, I guess it depends on a level of Grift. Right now on PTR the highest GRift level for solo wizard is 34, the worst of top 50 is lvl 30. I was @ lvl 31 and the playstyle there looked like this:
If it's a regular mob, just drop 3 Conflag stacks on it and move on.
If it's an elite/champ, nuke it until it's dead.
And it worked just fine - I was well ahead of time before I got DC'd. I guess for 40+ we'll need more firepower to beat the clock, but the point still stands: it doesn't matter if you get full DOT in 2-3 sec or in 10 sec if you have 15 minutes and you can pretty much hit&run through regular mobs.
Chance on hit effects now proc on the extra magic missiles , also there's a primary spender gem. Combine chance on hit legendary gems with the primary spender legendary gem and it could become insanely strong. It's probably why they nerfed depth diggers because that gem most likely scales to become even better than depth diggers.
What I don't like about the Depth Diggers change is that the other classes still has it except for WD, why can't WDs and Wizards use Depth Diggers when DHs can?
Gem + Depth Diggers on a class that can use both is going to be really strong.
I can't believe so many people complain about this... Can't you see it would be completly broken and op if wizards and WD could use it ? They have the best primary skills by a MILE AND have op legendaries to buff them further. Imagine an explosive toad WD with this ? or the new overbuffed spider/spider queen ? or a MM Wizard ???? (Mirror ball is already +200% damage on top of +200% procs on ptr)
People need to stop acting stupid andadmit they new it was gonna be completly OP, and that's why they're crying now.
Wizards got a ludicrous (but needed) buff to firebirds and WD don't need anything (yet many primaries were buffed). Having MM/EB or toads as the only damage dealers is not happening, too bad right ?....
I'm not complaining that I can't use MM as the only damage dealer, I'm glad that I can't.
I'm complaining that other classes can use their Primary spells as the only damage dealers because of the legs.
Can you read ? Wizards and WD have extremely strong primary attacks and legendaries to buff them already. to give you an exemple, a WD with the toad weapon deals 200% more damage, which is multiplicative with the gem so it does 200*1.5 + 100 = 400% of the original tooltip weapon damage (and the gem unlike the pants can be upgraded, let's say to 100% extra damage so that would be 500% of the tooltip damage)
On the other hand, the bonus from the pants and the gem are additive, so for a DH for exemple you get 100% extra damage from the pants and 50% from the gem for a grand total of 250% of the tooltip (much less than the 400% of the WD) or 300% with an upgraded gem (compared to 500% for a WD)
Now you see why the pants are not only unneeded but completly broken for WD and Wizards ?????????
It's funny though, because you only had one spell to mention.
There is NO reason to let other classes use both the gem and legs if Wizards and WDs can't, if the only reason is Mirrorball, Mykens and Rhen'Ho then just exclude MM, Electrocute and Frogs from the legs. There are plenty other Primary spells that DO NOT have any legendaries to buff them.
Wizard Primary attacks has low damage compared to other classes like for example Crusader and Barbarian.
