Simply think of what you want, and be cautious. Redistributing would destroy any new and developing ideas regarding any sort of character. And almost no level service. Game would get boring.
I disagree. It's a great way to make a character last longer. Such a character is not affected by new patches, since if new skills become great and others become useless you can always switch your points around.
It also greatly encourages experimentation, because you cannot make any long-lasting mistakes. People can truly test new builds to their heart's content then.
Of course there could be a limit to it, like say you can only move them around once a week or you have to complete a quest every time you want to move them around.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

this is true...and for all of u duelers out there...one of my friends is currently working on the most badass combo for a dueling char out there so...get ready...ill tell when complete and give more info but be ready for complete uber pwnage... and when its complete...if anyone needs a duel i can prolly set that up...set up a rape fest LOL

and for this...make a test char first...or use an old char u had and look at wut would be best...reapportionment would be stupid...right int he middle of duel game...go from god smiter to all of a sudden godly hdin? wtf is that? no none of that plz..thx

The point I am trying to make is that redistributing skill points saves time. I don't want to level a shitty character to level 90 just to see if a build works. I want to remove points I placed incorrectly to save myself time.

That's why I also suggested you can only do it rarely. Such as once every week. That prevents lightning-quick changing.

I think it might work better if the skill allotment revamping was a non-ladder thing.
That way, if you're serious about PKing, their is an environment where you can compete without the fear of people changing their stats mid duel.
And, for people who are testing out new builds, (like when they introduced synergies), you can have a way of testing out these things with an already high character level and you don't have to waist your time on making 'test' builds. So, every time they reset the ladder you can use your previously ladder characters as a 'Gumbi' for the next seasons...
It would keep ladder play still very competitive, I think.

Getting rid of bots- You could never get rid of them all, new versions spring every week.
Higher resolution? Even with a geforce 8800 gtx your resolution of d2 will remain fixed to the game capability. That requires d3 to come out.
The only thing I might agree on here is removing the possibility of re-insertion
of the damn cd. Oh well, after 8 years I've kinda got used to it anyways. No point complaining now, is there?
Uh too bad i was just responding to the guy who was above me and saying what would be good and what wouldn't. And i did say that redistribution would destroy the strategy.

That might be fine for those of you who play Softcore, who cares if your character dies, they just respawn in town, no biggie, if my level 89 Hardcore character dies because of some hacked to hell jackass who tppked me, I gotta start all over again.
You have a similar function in World of Warcraft right? You have to agree to a duel?

Well yeah that makes sense now... In hardcore take out hostility, and just implement a duel system(if you die, you don't loose your character either...) But leave it as is for softcore...
I take it your a Softcore player, I play mostly Hardcore, so sometimes my suggestions are HC based. "Agree to hostiling" makes a huge difference for HC players.
(if you die, you don't loose your character either...)
That is kind of the point of HC, see how far one can go without dying.

What ive always wanted in D2 was the option of REMOVING hostility if I quote " I " make the game, sorta like WoW you have PvE servers and PvP servers, if u want CHAR vs CHAR, leave hostility, if u want PvE, take it out.
None of this agree to hostility stuff just have the player choose if he/she wants hostility in THEIR game that THEY CREATED!
I never understood why they didn't implement that feature.
They have the coding for agree to party which makes it so you cannot hurt someone. Doing the exact opposite, agreeing so you can hurt someone shouldn't be that hard.
But yeh that idea is probably better. I just mentioned "Agree to Hostile" as is is essentually "Agree to Duel" which I think WOW has, plus a handful of other games.

well heres something i just thought of. if they do have agree to hostle how will it work. will you have to click the swords to cross or a totaly new button.
YOu would probably click the swords yes. or it gets changed so in nice big letters, so it shows up like the "agree to join" appears.

ya i was just wondering how that would work with all the talk about it. it would be a good idea and it seems like it could be done. they might have it be that and bug fixes and better hacking security.

how about just no hostiling hardcore? and reapportioning stats...i still think thats an awful way to make chars...be like a time macine... say when ur 30 u spend 10,000 and buy x-stock and it was a bad decision...u lose 3,000 on it cuz the stock plummets...ur left with the 7,000 u have... u mess up ur character...deal with the consequences...nuff said
A possibility, yes. I don't mind not hostiling in HC, since I never do it.

stupidest idea u morons have come up with yet, even if they did put that in it would only be for hardcore anyway but otherwise it would completely ruin dueling and if u guys didnt know half the people on b.net just play to duel
Some people people play Diablo for the quests and story you know. The only time they are concerned with dueling is when some one joins a game with a name like Act 2 quest 2, and they run around trying to get people to duel with them.
Shouldn't the name of the game given them some hint as to the players is said game's intentions?

ya but it doesnt matter anyways. because if you make a private game then you wont be able to play with that many people. you would have to know who you are playing with to play private. "oh well what about the chat room" you say. well ya you will play with more people but then those people who want to pk you because they are bored and have nothing else to do will just look at the chat room and join your game. if you want a more civilized hostiling then the best and simplist way of doing so would be to put a agree to hostile button. and maybe they put a duel function. so when you make either a duel game of a act 2 quest 2 game there is a button at the create a game menu that will either let it be activated or if its clicked on no duel then you can not duel in that game. once agian just ideas pulling out of my head.
