Since playing pretty regularly from launch up until the end of 2018 and never missing a season I have since taken off up until now as I anxiously await the start of season 18.
Ive been glancing at the leader boards and playing my old now non season characters as I try and decide which class/build I want to work towards when I noticed just about every position on the leaderboards is now a non set build (Except Crusaders). I personally have no issue learning and adapting to non set builds but I am curious as to if this is the "future" and sets are just a step towards this new style.
If so Im wondering why they are putting effort into the new sets if the game is now headed towards these builds. Obviously nobody can see into the minds of those working at Blizzard, but have we officially seen the death of sets as the best builds for most classes or will sets see some improvements and become viable again?
Just watch that, gives you a nice lil list of builds. LoN is in the lead for a lot of classes, albeit only slightly. I do feel like there moving towards the idea of sets being a stepping stone and using LoN to add more value to collecting ancients which personally I feel adds new life to the game given how quickly they give you your set now.
Sets are still relevant because you've gotta do a fair bit of farming to have a full ancient set, and depending on the class you pick you may not be swapping until every slot is ancient. I expect soon they'll try to bring sets up to match LoN but I hope they don't as LoN is significantly hardly to get a full set for and as such deserves to be the next tier in power.
Thanks for that link, Im deaf and dont do much youtube, but their shitty auto captions translate enough for me to understand where hes headed with this
