Will the extra life make you clear rifts 4.1% faster? Doubt it.
An argument could be made for certain classes running the CDR gem that the extra CDR lets them clear faster or do higher difficulties more efficiently leading to more XP per hour than running a ruby.
an amethyst in helm can help you clear rifts faster yes... if you don't have to run away just to not get killed as opposed to a ruby which will not make you clear anything faster... 4.1% is just the xp you gain nothing to do with dmg.
The 4.1% will not help after lvl70. You will be MUCH further ahead to use the Amethyst (purple) gem for additional life or diamond (grey) gem for cool down reduction (CDR). All the others are practically useless in the helm slot and have been for a long time.
Well, if you're using a build that has cooldown skills that are important, the Diamond is obviously the better choice. If you find yourself nearly dying, then Amethyst, otherwise, if neither of those benefit you, then definitely take the Ruby.
Depends on what you want to play but all the strongest individual skills in the game are cooldown based.
I tried the other day doing a GR with Leorics crown and Ruby about half a dozen levels back from my max and then a diamond on my max (build is very cooldown dependent) and I found it was quicker to level up on the higher rift.
I use Emeralds when solo lvling new chars, using puzzle ring method. It works great up to lvl 50-55. After that I use ruby until I hit 70.
Also, if solo playing fresh lvl 70 char on HC, I like to use topaz on low torments. Idk if that improve chances of legendary drops, but for some reason I think it does..

The red gem seems still to be working, according to the top players who are actually using it for xp-runs. Arkismall etc. (In grifts that is.)
Are you sure cause the top streamers i follow hardly use red gems mayb" here & thier but i dont think it will be that great in helm
It says ingame that it doesn't work in GRs, but u never know blizz logic and code can be hard at work.
Yep, I forget how it's worded in game. But if you look at the Bonus XP gained and hover over it. It will say bonus XP is XXX% -The XP bonus in Greater Rifts is reduced by 100%. Now, Blizzard math? If you can get up to 105% you'll have 5% gain in GR? Or, how I think it's meant, put all the bonus you want in here and it means nothing in a GR.
I remember we tried this last season and made a true xp run. All 4 of us had Ruby's in our helms. I think we had 3 Hellfire rings and 2 Leorics. The 5 runs we did to test we averaged 20% xp less per run compared to the same runs we were previously doing. These were taking 1-2 min longer to clear.

Greetings,
4.1% after level 70. Is it still worth to wear a red gem in the helm? It seems quite low compared to a life gem.
I would like to have your opinion.
Thank you

And may the odds be ever in your favour.

Like all gems, there is no choice. Diamond in the helm on all builds, ofc.

Diamonds or Amethysts, depending on builds.
