So does anyone know what's up with Fable 2? I'm skeptical at best whether it's going to be a good game or not. The first Fable is somewhat controversial among gamers since many people acknowledge how short a game it was with many pointless features, yet still fun to play nonetheless.
Lionhead has definitely made some other frustrating games as well. I'm thinking especially of Black & White. A neat concept for a game, but I think the whole thing was poorly executed and not tested enough.
With any luck however, Lionhead paid close attenton to gamers' feedback on Fable and incorporated some criticisms/suggestions into the development of its sequel. But like I said, I'm skeptical at best about this game. Some of the screenshots so far appear pretty bland. http://www.lionhead.com/fable2/index.html
(although i have been extremely skeptical and even critical about some aspects PM talked about, mainly the "death/scar" system and the "dog can't die" aspect, amongst other tidbits).
I remember watching that video journal thing about the dog though and they just thought it was so brilliant of them to have this dog that has its own special AI thing and responds to you differently and all this other stuff. But I seriously didn't think there was anything that remarkable about it.
I'm hoping Fable 2 will be awesome because they realized there mistake with the first one (hopefully) with being able to beat it in a day easily. So with a new one it will be alot longer.
max stats, max spells, all the weapons (well minus one, you either get the good sword of aeons or you get the bad version), owned every building in every town, married 4 or 5 times i forget, all 6 dolls (well its 7 dolls if you count the jack doll which i had as well), both temple titles, got all 25 keys, opened all 20 chests, opened all the demon doors, even had fun at the one where you spell HITS, lol what other word has those letters SHIT? maxed out goodness then i maxed out evilness, (go punching kids in Bowerstone!!!, people are like immortal in that town). uh what else is there to do in that game? uh oh yeh i got a bunch or trophies and some junk.
I hope F2 is much, much longer. not sure i like the idea of having a gun, but its not a 1945 machine gun so it might be ok.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
Fable was a good game in it's own way. What really killed the game from an interest/anticipation standpoint was how Molyneux talked about all the features they were bringing to the table only to have half of them cut prior to final release. If you noticed, there has been very little mentioned about Fable 2 because Molyneux realized he needs to keep his mouth shut.
As far as the dog in Fable 2 goes, it's a good idea and its executed well... not great, but well. I don't believe Lionhead thinks is fantastic from a technological standpoint as much as its fantastic from a mental/emotional angle. They believe they created a character players will get attached to. A character players will almost learn to love for real. Personally, I say hobbycock but they can believe what they want.
I made the mistake of buying an Xbox for Fable... that mistake will not happen again (even though I already have an Xbox 360 (No Halo 3!)). I don't like when games are hyped only to fall incredibly short. It's why I wait right until release before I invest my hopes in a game.
PGR4 + BioShock are all I need for now.
StarCraft 2 and Disciples 3 are what im looking forward to in the future.

As long as I can do as much or as little with the dog then I suppose it's alright. I just have these awful memories of playing Black & White where I was trying to train my creature using the three different leashes and it was such a pain in the ass and distracted me from just running the simulations. Most the time I'd just have my creature on a short leash tethered to a tree. But then I'd look at my creature's stats and it was all saying how I don't love it enough and stuff like that and I'm actually feeling guilty at this point and trying to bring my creature up to happier standards.
I think Fable is such an interesting game cause you can talk for a long time about what is good and bad about it. I often focus on the barage of useless features in the game such as getting married, owning a house, the different expressions you could use such as laughing, sneering, farting, flirting, and posing.
I also thought your own character looked really strange once he became big and strong. Like, he didn'tl look like he had defined muscles or anything, but more like he had even distributed elephantitis all over his body.
I did happen to find the combat pretty fun though. A bit too easy not to die, but still fun. And seriously, who didn't just start dumping their skill points into Enflame and use that most of the game?

I hated to be able to max all skills though, oh and i hate Oblivion because of the same idiotic gameplay designs too, it just completely contradicts roleplaying.
Yeah, I've heard many compelling arguments on how Oblivion is simply not an RPG game. I'm not exactly sure what Fable was either.

Many game reviews focus on Artificial Intelligence. CounterStrike Source, great graphics, great everything. Using the same engine as HalfLife: 2. However the "bots" in CSS do nothing when flashed. They walk forwards while looking backwards. They stand in the same spot jumping without doing anything, and when they get shot they spaz out or sometimes disconnect.

But I digress. It seems to me like Lionhead really is impressed with itself for creating this dog.

Siaynoq's Playthroughs
Even if Fable 2 had a different storyline and more gametime, I'd still play it, even though there'd be no new gameplay content. It's just that fun
"Cards and flowers on your window, your friends all plead for you to stay,
sometimes beginnings aren't so simple, sometimes goodbye's the only way."
