I thought this was the best place to put this but I really have no idea.
I wanted to ask you guys about this since I really have no idea and wanted some opinions before I started trouble shooting myself.
Anyways, it seems like everytime when my computer boots up, my LCD stays in "Stand By" mode. I really think its the LCD problem(but, to make it seem like it wouldnt be is the fact I bought this LCD like 1 year ago, during dec.).
Then I also thought it could be the video card doing this. That I also bought a year ago. I really have no idea, I know brand name usually doesnt matter, but if it is a problem with this "Samsung" LCD I'd be suprised for sure, since I have another Samsung LCD, thats been living for like 9 years now(seriously too).
Anyone have any ideas? Like I said, its not a big issue, but i did pay mad money for this LCD and I hate having PC problems. For someone who uses their computer EVERYDAY for long hours during these days, I want it fixed.
I buy all my computer supplies from Newegg, so I know for a fact if I have any issues they will be nice enough to help me return the items.
It seems like every time you boot up it's in standby or it really does do that every time? Are you saying the image is coming up? Could be something wrong with the monitor. Are your video card drivers up to date as well?
Yeah, I gotta try to put it into another computer. But its like everytime I boot up, I just got back from work, and my computer was on but my LCD went was off and turned back on in seconds. It just mainly happens when I try to boot up. Its like I no longer see my boot up screen, and like my MOBO screen. Usually now when it actually turns on, its at my desktop already.
PC spec:
Video card: MSI Radeon 5770
Edit: Hmm, well today I actually reconnected all the cords, and I just got back from work, so I decided to shut down my PC and my LCD, and it didn't do it this time. So, I mean, will see how it is tomorrow when I reboot but it seems to be fine now.
Sounds like the monitor may have some bad capacitors in it, and is taking a while to "warm up" so the back light can turn on.
Before you go to bed and turn off your computer, go to monitor settings and reduce the brightness, reduce it enough to were you can still see it though. The next morning if you turn your monitor on and it instantly comes on (with the reduced brightness) then you probably have some bad capacitors.
It sounds like this is the problem since you said if you turn it off and back on, it does not happen. This is because the monitor is already "warmed up".
Anyways, I would test the monitor on a different computer, or test a different monitor on that computer to make sure that it is actually the monitor.
If the monitor is still in warranty RMA it, other wise if you have some soldiering skills you could spend 20$ to POTENTIALLY fix it.
Otherwise, I suggest waiting for your monitor to die, then going over to newegg and you can pick up a 23" 1080p LCD(TN) for around 150-200$.

ya I called all the places, no one will take it back not even samsung or newegg. This sucks since I just bought it last year, and its does excatly what you said. And it just did it again bro, IM FUCKING PISSED. Cause I paid this LCD with my own cash it was alot, $229 to be on the dot! Sucks man, but ya, I'm going to try doing that brightness thing that you explained. Its totally doing what you posted, sometimes it does, then it doesn't.
I dont even wanna wait, FUCK IT. Its time to go with a Asus...maybe. What do you guys think? I'm deff going to get a extended warrenty too if they offer it.

If ALL ELSE FAILS WITH SAMSUNG (TRY, Call, look around online ect) then call newegg and tell them that Samsung is not upholding their warranty, but be very nice about it, and they may hook you up.\
If it is out of warranty... then.. where do you live? I am sure somebody locally fixes elections.
When it becomes un-usable I may pay shipping to get it, before you throw it out.

Actually man, I dunno I'm starting to think its not the LCD. But I cant tell, because you said it would take several minutes to warm up if anything. When you say this.... Does that mean, NOTHING IS DISPLAYED AT ALL!? Cause I can display "Anaglog, HDMI, Digital" and "Testing Good"(fuck whatever that means). But the menu doesnt show up thats all.
Today I woke up, turned my PC on and my LCD. I think my PC totally booted up, and I must of waited like about 15mins or 10mins, and this fucking screen didnt turn on. I constantly just clicked the power button, I waited a bit after clicking it, then try to fuck with the screen button see if they did anything. Then I fucking got pissed a bit slammed the LCD on the table, cause this fucking shit should be working.
Anyways, I dunno guys, Maybe its not the LCD. Cause then after awhile, I was like fuck it, I hate the restart button on my tower and there it was, the screen was showing the boot up screen. I dunno, I really gotta try another LCD on this maybe, I think it couple possible be the "MSI video card" or even worst fucking mobo going to shit. I really have no idea whats causing this problem, but this isnt the best time to break down on me...

When the computer is on, but the monitor is blank, take the BRIGHTEST FLASHLIGHT YOU HAVE and aim it at the scree. If you see stuff then it is definitely the back light. (you may have to angle it around and tilt it to see something)
When you are switching inputs I bet the backlight is turning on for a split second then turning off.? Does this sound like what is happening?
Regardless, don't destroy it.
Do you have a laptop? Plug the monitor into the laptop and see if the same symptoms occur.
So you try to turn on the monitor and it doesn't want to show a picture?
I'd put money on bad capacitors. I run my PC through an LCD TV and I have a LED indicator that tells me when the TV is supposed to be on. Well, about a year ago, I would go to turn on my TV and the light would turn green (indicating on), but the picture wouldn't change to anything. Then, after a while, it became harder to turn on, such to the point where I thought it was a loose connection between the power button and the power source. I would have to resort to pressing hard by the LED to get it to turn on correctly. Then it wouldn't turn on at all.
My dad and I went in, completely dissected the thing, and almost all of the capacitors were shot. Just completely fried, corroded, and busted. We actually bought some from an online store and installed them and my TV works good as new.
So, I would take the suggestions that other people have provided (switching PCs and monitors) and if it is definitely the monitor, then take it apart and look at the main circuit board. If you see any capacitors that are busted open at the top (they usually crown and have a great bit of residue on them where it opens), then you need to order new capacitors. They should be fairly easy to recognize.

It could be a connection between your graphics card and the PCB its on.
I guess this is a possibility, take your graphics card out and use rubbing alcohol with QUE TIPS and clean off the gold part, and then reseat it ensuring that it is in the mobo correctly.

I didn't do the flashlight thing omega, but I now know for sure it was the capatiors you were talking about. Cause I just booted up my PC today, and besides being not patience today, i decided to wait to see if the LCD would actually pop on, like it used too.
And what do you know.... once I came back to my computer my LCD was on and running. So I'm guessing its only a couple weeks till it totally blows out
I actually found out it isn't the LCD(ever since I started this thread, it took longer and longer, for the LCD to kick on after being on standby, now finally it just doesn't wanna turn on with my PC). I used a different LCD and it also went to standby, (nothing worked, at all). I also took my LCD that I always use for my PC to another computer, plugged it in, and it worked just fine. No standby problems or anything.
I swapped my video card into different slots of the PCE-Is and nothing worked. My LCDs still wanted to stay in standby, but the video card was on and everything, so weird. (everything turned on fine, including all fans, and CPU fan, and all fan LEDs.)
I was telling my brother one day, that this did happen to my old Alienware back in the day actually. (I just thought of this, earlier, when I was messing with my PC). Well, it also had a ATI, AMD config. I did have a custom built Intel computer before, but this never happen.
I actually I'm starting to think I might need to just clean it out a bit. I did noticed the fans were dusty a bit, but it wasn't that bad at all. It was only the back tower fan that was really dusty, I was even showing a flashlight and I didnt really see much dust around in different areas. To be honest, the CPU fan barely had any.(I do try to clean my PC over so many days, thats why).
Anyways, I called up my MOBO company "Asus" and they said they are going to see if they have the mobo in stock, then email me. Then if it is, they will send me the same one, if not they will fix it. So, thats one thing I got done actually.(I did this, cause when I went to newegg.com the most recent reviews were all shitty ones, talking about problems similar to mine actually. Well more like "Black screens" "random restarts" "crashing" "USB ports going bad" all types of problems actually.)
But like I said before, I think it might be the dust thing, cause I do remember something similar like this happen to my Alienware(trust, I dont buy them anymore, I make my own PCs) and I had no idea what was the problem, and honestly, eventually one day it just starting working fine again, then LCD turn on and everything. (It also was a AMD processer and ATI video card.)
But I read the one post above this, saying to clean to gold plates on the video card, I really wanna do that, so tomorrow ima give it a try, then go to work, then buy some duster(thats what we call the cans, its to spray away dust inside ur PCs).
Hopefully this dust shit is the issue. I didn't really think it would be intill I seen that guys post about the gold plates and cleaning it. Anyways, I figure i'd update you guys at where Im at, and hopefully you guys have something to say! lol
P.S.
I'm not even on my PC anymore, thats how badly this problem is. I'm on my Laptop...this thing is an HP with an internal video card! Diablo 2 anyone?? lol.
Edit aug 23rd 2011: Im finally back, found out it was the power supply, bought a new one and a new case! soo happy my pc is working again! All set for diablo 3!
