Watched the presentation vid for this and thoroughly agreed with the direction they are headed. Everything is nicely done and organized. I feel its worth the wait if this this is the package they will have ready for us next year.
I wonder, though, if the new Bnet 2.0 will have a lightweight chat system extra.
For example; Everquest servers back in the day had a seperate server for chat. This allowed Sony to build a chatting IM-style program that dialed straight into the chat server so people could stay connected while at work (because EQ didn't take up enough of people's time). I, for one, would enjoy something similar for Bnet 2.0. While I'm at work, I could use it instead of relying on two or three programs to keep in contact with other friends spread across several forms of IM.
(( By the way, if you're like me, I recommend Trillian as a way to combine different IMs in one program. It's free. ))

I just read the slide that says how the community will be split into several different leagues, and ranked within each league. My initial reaction was "Holy shit, they got it right!" I honestly think this is the best idea i've seen seen for ranking competitive play online in a long, long time.
It perfectly mirrors how it would be outside of a game: you really don't like facing people a whole let better than you in competitions, but you also want a rank amung the people of similar skill & time investment levels. So you form leagues with similar skilled people. I love the idea of using this for a RTS ranking system, I hope they get this just right because it surely has the potential to be a great ranking system. Much better than the murdered ELO system they tried to do with WoW arena.
You know, I had my doubts. Though I know it's not perfect, I'm hoping that a matchmaking system based on weighted ability is utilized. Some people do get off on going to lower levels just to destroy "nubz".

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
