Soon (not to be blizzard...sometime today), Junction and I are working on some basic info so that you guys know what is going on with the RP and the genre you guys have chosen. After the results are posted, we will introduce three key plots in which we will hold another vote.

It was a close vote with many other options only a vote or two behind. If anyone is unhappy with this genre, they are free to drop out if they would like.
Junction and I have created a website with basic information of the RP. We have named the RP the Dark Abyss with our group name being the Revenant. More information can be found HERE. Please take the time to read over the information.

Our next action for the RP is to decide an overlying plot for the RP. The choices are:
1. Fight for survival against an Evil presence.
2. Neutral bounty hunters who travel from planet to planet looking for work.
3. Planetary extension of our group through conquest.
The voting for the plot will begin now and will end on Wednesday. You get 1 vote this time. Please pm your votes to junction3.
After the plot has been chosen, we will focus on creating our characters. We have decided to create the races and classes ourselves to maintain a cohesion amongst the players. Basic information can be found on the site for the different races and classes. We will leave it up to you guys to take these molds to create unique characters. More information will be released later on how to create you character.

I understand that not everyone will be happy with the genre. I ask that anyne who is niot happy with the result wait a awhile and see if it grows on them and of course, anyone can drop out if they want.
The plot votes should be PM'd to junction3. Just to reitterate, the plots are overlying themes. There are many chances for tons of side stories to happen. We are hoping that you guys help create some of these side stories.
We decided that we would create the races and classes for a few reasons.
1. While we want this to be a collaborative effort, we need to ensure some cohesion for better and clear understanding of the RP.
2. We wanted to make sure classes were somewhat balanced and make sure nobody created. "superman"class.
3. We are hoping that ou guys can be creative in your characters specific stories and skills. The classes mentioned are meant to be guidlines for your character.
4. We wanted to make sure that the characters have distinct types that will be recognizeable.
If you have an ideas or changes please let us know. We can change anything, anytime. If you have a great idea for a race or class, please share it.
Also, I apologize forthe typos and a few mistakes on the website. We threw it together quickly to give you guys some info. I will take the next few days revising it.

I will say that diablo and medieval were the two runner ups. Diablo lost by 1 vote and medieval lost by 2. I hope you do not mind that the rest will be kept a secret.

And Turmobil, while I don't have anything against your idea... it just seems like you've taken one of the already existing races, and just given it a rename.

I understand that swords can vary. I mean from a character design point, there is not much difference. At least not enough to add the class or change the pre-existing one.

That's where we differ.
Each and every sword type has a different weight, feel and style. Let's say you're using a two handed 1.70 meters long sword. You'd probably be going for sweeping strikes since thrusting would be difficult and easy to parry. But if you got one of them short swords you'd rely on thrusting more since it would be faster, deadlier and easy to use.
Now obviously energy swords are a bit different. You could probably say that they are nigh weightless and thus would be easier to handle. That's true in a way but you'd still have to play by the rules. A shorter sword for thrusting, a longer for sweeping.
You're totally about to get nerd-owned.

So basically, you correctly outlined the way that old-school swords work. By that, I mean swords made out of metal. Shorter swords had to be used for thrusting, since they could not achieve momentum necessary to cleave off limbs that the larger, heavier swords could manage.
Thus, you got thrusting with smaller swords, and cleaving with the larger swords.
But the difference lies in the materials.
Energy swords, which we would assume are made of materials that can cut through fucking everything (as noted in the class description provided by scyberdragon), would not have the differences in styles.
This, once again, is due to the momentum. If the material itself (energy) is capable of cutting through anything, then momentum needed to cleave, is no longer needed, thus removing the thrusting and slashing roles of small and large swords.

You're basically swinging around air.
You wouldn't even be getting any resistance from the air, since the energy itself would burn the oxygen around it.
And if the longer swords need more space to handle them, then wouldn't they be better served to thrusting attacks instead of slashing?
Your character can use different types of armor if you wish. Just remember the lore behind the characters when deciding to change things.
