I don't know :p. But so far we have established that the arreat crater is from the worldstone, the meteor hit tristram, and we don't know wtf is in it.
I'm willing to bet that the left over Barbarians in the mountains scrapped together a force and built Bastion's Keep to keep watch over the Arreat Crater - making sure nothing emerged from it, which in Diablo III, looks to be happening.
Did the explosion of the Worldstone create some kind of interdimensional rift that opened a gateway to the Burning Hells? Is that what Tyrael meant when he said that Baal "corrupted" it?
You've opened a big can of worms. I would assume (if it is the last of the barbarians) that they became uncivil, crazy-dangerous, and reclusive. Or they became even more graceful in their ways of living, so that they can live in peace (like the druids) but the pictures don't really point to that. Either way, I think it really screwed the barbarians up. The rift could be how they connect the demon plot.
I think I mentioned this before, but would it not be awesome if the barbarians gained even more of a burden by this, having to contain what would come from the crater from hell? They would be the most loyal beings in Sanctuary. Maybe they become corrupted...
Bastiions keep is not manned by the barbarians. Abd al-Hazir says in his own writings on the subject that he went searching for the Barbarians and couldn't find them. He also mentions that he stood on the ramparts of the ancient Bastion keep looking out over the remains of arreatt:
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]"Fool! You have just ensured the doom of this world. You cannot even begin to imagine what you've set in motion this day. Go to the Temple of Light, in the eastern ciry of Kurast. There you will find the gate to Hell opened before you. You must find the courage to step through that gate Marius. Take the stone you hold to the Hellforge, where it will be destroyed. Now run! Take the stone and run!"
Maybe the meteor was actually a spell. Maybe it's purpose was to unlock some sort of evil being that was trapped under the cathedral since the days of D1.
Hm... Yeah, that's an interestingly simple idea. Perhaps the Cultists somehow summoned it through some grand sacrifice? Or maybe it just got summoned by a powerful spell caster- since we have the Zann Esu who can call down meteors.
In fact red meteors isone of the best "clich?ts" about bad omens... it's always cool to see a red badass meteor falling and awakening the darkness in the world. eheh
Yeah but red meteors that leave behind blue light?
Nah it's not from King Leoric. His chamber doesn't have near enough blue light near or around it. Whatever it is seems to be farther down in the cathedral.
I agree the majority of the blue light seems to have appeared later on, but in the cinematic there is traces of blue light in the meteor right before it hits. The first two pictures may look normal but the last is what looks odd to me, it doesn't look natural, more magic or perhaps a angels wings if you choose to believe that.
I see something like a tail (probably not one) wrapped within the flames. It may be hard to spot, it is next to the candle with crosses on it. I guess it does look like something is crashing to the floor.
Ya I can kind of see a tail though I always see things in the meteor. Lately it's been a figure flying back first toward the ground, let me highlight what I mean.
Your highlight is wrong, though you are correct -
It seems to be a body as if thrown down. It looks like it's falling on it's back/face up and a bit towards the camera. *It has hands and something shorter (like wings) on him as well. They're bent upwards because of the velocity... *He's falling at an angle away from the camera and rotating around a horizontal axis as well (you can tell if you look at them one at a time in a fluid motion; the planks tell this as well). I really think it's Imperius.
I believe that's Leah in the center? She's crouching and got her arm over her head attempting to protect herself from the impact.
EDIT: It is not a tail in the third picture. You can see that even in the first picture (in the post above this one). In Daemaro's previous post - the last (third) picture you can make out the smoldering fumes just like the "tail" around the "flaming body".

lol it can still easily be a ranger since who said you cant shoot arrows at melee distance xD

The Barbarian is from Arreat, a very cold snowy mountain top, but they are much tougher than normal humans, so they don't need warmth.

Where are Barbarians originally from? Sumeria, or more specifically Mesopotamia, AKA Europe. Think the Alps and the Pyrenees
Epic quotes... all of them

Lots of things to think about...

Just a short remark.

Fuck you, I'm a dragon.

but judging by this picture, I'd say the ones in the Cathedral area are Diablo worshippers.
Teeth of Diablo spikes.
Rise and rise again, until lambs become lions
